Rated M for violence and mature themes.

    OOC

It is the 41st Millennium. For more than a hundred centuries the Emperor of Mankind has sat immobile on the Golden Throne of Earth. He is the master of mankind by the will of the gods and master of a million worlds by the might of his inexhaustible armies. He is a rotting carcass writhing invisibly with power from the Dark Age of Technology. He is the Carrion Lord of the vast Imperium of Man for whom a thousand souls are sacrificed every day so that he may never truly die.Yet even in his deathless state, the Emperor continues his eternal vigilance. Mighty battlefleets cross the daemon-infested miasma of the Warp, the only route between distant stars, their way lit by the Astronomican, the psychic manifestation of the Emperor's will. Vast armies give battle in His name on uncounted worlds. Greatest amongst his soldiers are the Adeptus Astartes, the Space Marines, bio-engineered super-warriors. Their comrades in arms are legion: the Imperial Guard and countless planetary defence forces, the ever-vigilant Inquisition and the tech-priests of the Adeptus Mechanicus to name only a few. But for all their multitudes, they are barely enough to hold off the ever-present threat to humanity from aliens, heretics, mutants -- and far, far worse. To be a man in such times is to be one amongst untold billions. It is to live in the cruelest and most bloody regime imaginable. These are the tales of those times. Forget the power of technology and science, for so much has been forgotten, never to be relearned. Forget the promise of progress and understanding, for in the grim darkness of the far future there is only war. There is no peace amongst the stars, only an eternity of carnage and slaughter, and the laughter of thirsting gods.

Thought for the day: Only in death does duty end

Several Shuttles have just docked in hangar bay 3, Bringing in New members to the Deathwatch. Though they have just arrived, they have already been chosen. Though, they do not know it yet. Their armor has taken on the Deathwatch Black already. They stand now in the hangar as their shuttles depart, awaiting instructions. Starkad Stormfang, Watch-captain Mori's Sergeant, stands looking at them. He was not so new to the Deathwatch, but his appointment to Mori was. He only infrequently passed by him in the six months since his tansfer, and knew very little about him, other than his honor roll, which, while long, was not overly long for someone of his age or lineage, especially considering how long he had been with the Deathwatch.

The new members stand there with their luggage being ported by Servitors. They were told to wait thereu ntil given orders, but they may still interact. Perhaps introductions would be best?

Aurius went down the ship. With his Kraken-loaded Bolter in his hand. He looked around, only to see a few Servitors and other veteran Deathwatchers. He looked around, he saw men from different chapters, such as the Blood Ravens, Ultramarines, Imperial Fists and more.. He said to himself, "Looks like I will purge some filthy Xeno creatures with my boltgun,"

Nothing seemed to be at rest in the hangar. Servitors had already taken Floki's less important items already. Other marines had been dropped off in the same hangar, all from different chapters it seemed. At the moment he was apprehensive of speaking to any of them. A strong drink might help that, but there would of course, be some kind of briefing or something of the sort. Best it be over with soon... he thought. He asked loudly from where he was, "Where are we supposed to be?"

    "Don't go~"

Aliss had to give the small group of girls a rather sad look. Most of them were teary eyed, but it wasn't like he could do much but say his goodbyes. "I'm afraid I can't do that..." The raven haired male said with a sad smile as one of the girls jumped on him for a hug, followed by another, and another, and another, until he had them all clinging to him. Chuckling, he patted their heads and smiled. "You've been good company too... But maybe next time after this?" He said with a wink as they moved away, wishing him well. Adjusting his scarf, he let out a breath and walked forth with a blinding smile on his face.

Upon arrival, his green eyes curiously scanned the faces around him, some old, most new, but nonetheless, there were some recognizable faces in the crowd. He wasn't really sure if he should draw attention to himself, and this made him run a hand through his slightly longish black hair, hands resting crossed on his chest as he continued to observe the new faces some more.

Renshii stared at the book in front of him staring at it before shutting the blank pages. It would be a future journal for him. He wanted to keep his memories for when the Deathwatch dragged his mind away. The man looked around the final memory of the room he was in before leaving and shutting the door behind him. Morning had just begun and it was time to join the other new arrivals. He had spent the night beforehand preparing himself for the following day. They were shipped off and sent to a new location. Renshii grabbed the little bit of luggage he brought with him. Not wanting to part with his sword he placed the back strap on and adjusted the sword to a comfortable position. From that point, Renshii slung one of the bags over his shoulder and picked up his second bag carrying it off the shuttle. He could see many of the other new arrivals ahead of him each parting from their ships.

Iain stood there waiting for the command, having brought nothing with him but his equipment. He held the sword in his hand, a claymore of old make and a lack of any technology whatseover, but powerful enough to slice through power armor if wielded correctly. He gazed upon it and the runes etched along the handle, recounting the names of each previous member of clan Ciar who had wielded it in the Emperor's name, either as a Space Marine or as an Imperial Soldier. He would not fail, he would not disgrace the Storm Wardens or his clan.

Adjusting his back, Aliss noticed that there were some roaming eyes. Well, he too was staring and observing but, there really was nothing wrong with the staring. Abs besides, it didn't make him feel any less uncomfortable, already quite used to eyes on him. When he locked eyes with someone, the dark haired male smirked, winked and raised a hand in greeting. He wasn't sure if a fist would come flying straight at him so he maintained his distance. "Hey there."

The new members were lead through screening before being allowed to go to their quarters. Several weeks passed, giving them time to acclimate, but then they were called up into service, and were instructed to beard the Strike Cruiser Dauntless Vengeance. They were given the information on why they were being sent, About the massive WAAAGH! tearing through several sectors, and how they were expected to stop it. They also learned they'd be working with the Ordo Xenos Inquisitor Bettanicus, who had focused the last sixty years of his life studying Orks.

Their vessel exited the docks and began, moving a safe distance away before activating its Warp Drive and making the transition to the immaterium. Suddenly, the universe went GLORP! and tasted like purple. Several weeks passed as they traveled, and they grew to know each other, but they had yet to meet their Kill-team leader. They knew nothing about him, and yet they were expected to trust him to lead them?

As they reached their destination, they shifted back into realspace. The universe when PLORG! and tasted of yellow for a second before returning to normal. Then suddenly, the ship was rocked with explosions as alarm Klaxons went off. An announcement over the speaker system announced they were under sudden attack by an Ork Kroozer and its escort ships. The Dauntless Vengeance's escorts began dealing with the Kroozer, as yet an unidentified ship, as Navy ratings began rushing to their stations.

"Proximity alert! Boarding pods inbound!" Crackled the automated voice over the speaker system. Ranmaru heard this, and he looked up from his meditation. He was in his private quarters. Sparse and spartan, just like the room of any member of the Adeptus Astartes. The only ornamentation was a small shrine dedicated to his chapter...his Daimyo, who he failed to protect. He stood, taking his helmet and placing it on his head. With a faint click and hiss, he was once again wreathed in the artificial atmosphere of his armor, painted black as the void, save for the Silver pauldron bearing his mark as a member of Deathwatch, and the other pauldron dedicated to his chapter. He took his word from its pedestal and mag-locked it to his waist, and his other wargear from the various shelves also found their places. It could be said he was slow in reacting. Though he wished to hurry, he must honor his wargear. He knew it was wrong, that he should react, but he could not help himself but do it.

Alarms continued to blaze as post after pod breached the hull in hundreds of locations, disgorging their swarms of green warriors. Instantly, the vox channels were flooded with reports of combat. The orks were blazing through the corridors, and several sections of the ship were surrounded and overwhelmed. The Medbay where Alisster was stationed was quickly flooded with wounded, and he could hear, with his heightened senses, Orks were coming this way as well.

"This is Captain Mori Ranmaru." Came an austere and calm, but commanding voice. "Members of Kill-team Mori, advance from your positions to Deck sixty-seven, midship-section four-two-two-six. We must combine our force to drive these foul Xenos." This was the kill-team's private channel, so, it HAD to be the Captain. Suddenly, over the Vox, emanating from the captain's transmitter came the sound of combat. "And do hurry, if you would. FACE ME, HONOR-LESS DOGS!" The voice finished, then shouted, most likely at the Orks, then the transmission cut off.

Iain had been contemplating the history of his clan, something he had been taught to do from a young age, when the alarms suddenly began to rouse him. He quickly donned his power armor, setting his helmet upon his head in case of encountering a hull breach, and drew his Sacris Claymore, uttering a small prayer to his ancestors and predecessors for protection and guidance towards glory in battle. With a cry of rage, he threw open his door and slashed at the nearest green-skinned foe, noting briefly their strange mode of dress that included very light armor and cutlass shaped weapons. Very unorthodox for Orks, but then again nothing truly was with them. He managed to slice through the Ork's arm, sending him realing in pain to the ground with a cry, alerting the others currently in the corridor. "For clan Ciar and the Emperor!" With that, Iain again let out a cry and began slashing his way through his foes to meet his comrades in arms at the specified position, focusing first on which Ork seemed the strongest or most skilled, and then dealing with the others.

Renshii stumbled upon impact of explosions. After regaining his balance, he grunted and straightened up back to a stand. Grumbling, Renshii looked to the screeching noise of a loud speaking coming across the loud speaker. "Proximity Alert! Boarding pods inbound!" "Already? Are you kidding me, we just fucking got here." Renshii rushed towards his quarters making his way quickly. The beasts would be upon them soon and they would be destroying everything in sight. The thing he disliked most was them just now getting here and already they were being forced into battle.

Upon entering his room, he grabbed his bolt pistol as well as his Power sword. Checked to make sure the pistol was ready for fire then moved over to his desk picking up the two combat knives laying there in a cross formation. After finishing up, the screeching came across once more. "This is Captain Mori Ranmaru." It had been the commander this time shouting orders. "Members of Kill-team Mori, advance from your positions to Deck sixty-seven, midship-section four-two-two-six. We must combine our force to drive these foul Xenos." Renshii grumbled and rushed to the deck mentioned in the announcement. The quicker these things were gone the better.
