Born on Sabilis, the individual known as Amax Holder, also known as “Tip”, now more widely recognized as the Lord of Sabilis, Trist Maxillium, lived the early years of his life in the undercity of Evata, the primary hive and planetary capital of the Imperial fringe world. Like most youth of that world, he was quickly absorbed into the criminal enterprises of a small gang, one of many such in the bowels of that world. Naturally, he was caught up in the Underhive Wars that raged with such ferocity and unusual circumstances that it would attract the attention of not one, but two inquisitors; inquisitor Galvin of Ordos Xenos and inquisitor Sharia of Ordos Malleus. Though linked to what followed, this event was to be utterly paled by the Sabilian Wars of Succession from the Holy Domains of the Imperium of Man that followed.
When rebel nobles assassinated the proper Imperial Planetary Governor of Sabilis and declared succession, they drove elements loyal to the Imperium, even inquisitorial agents, underground. It was in the rubble that was what remained of the underhive that Amax encountered Isha Kainate, the daughter of the deposed Imperial ruler and the rightful heir to the throne. Under evident duress, the underhive ganger was ‘recruited’ into her resistance force as she fought to retake the world for Emperor and Imperium.
During his tenure as servant, advisor, and ‘friend’ to the so-called “Princess of Sabilis” throughout the Sabilian Wars, Amax would lead loyalist forces including reinforcing Imperial Guard remnants, forge alliances with Adeptus Mechanicus elements (who largely tried to stay out of the conflict), and fought the xenos of the Orks and Dark Eldar. The closing years of the conflict saw him fight shoulder to shoulder (figuratively speaking, given their height) with warriors of the Fourth Company of the Redeemers Chapter of the Adeptus Astartes, who had (belatedly) arrived to deal with the Dark Eldar incursions.
At the conclusion of the Sabilian Wars Isha Kainate was affirmed to the position of her father. Initially for his loyalty and dedication to her cause (to say nothing of any of the rumors swirling around the pair) and later affirmed by gene-testing that revealed his noble heritage (albeit to a rebel noble since excommunicated by the Ecclesiarchy and executed), Amax “Tip” Holder was raised to the station of Lord of Sabilis and rechristened Trist Maxillium.
In recognition to the not-inconsiderable efforts of the newly-minted rulers of Sabilis during the Sabilian Wars, the Adeptus Mechanicus and, more unusually, the Adeptus Astartes, lent considerable aid in reconstructing and redressing the world. Though previously an obscure world rumored to be ignored even by the tau, research and development hubs as well as significant manufactorums built upon the world have given it recognition well used by the ruling pair to expand the world’s influence. Rumors persist that more than the princess’ initiative to save Mechanicus facilities during the war contributed to their unusual amount of interest and strong ties to the world.
