History(At least a paragraph): Andi is from a long running Wereclan nestled in the Sierra Nevada mountains. Unlike Native American tribes who have Skinwalkers and the like, Andi is from a village of pure Werecougars. There are many stories about their origins, they were the cursed children of the Star People, they were the blessed children of the Star People, they are the products of some mad Wizard, even they have just always been appearing in the world along with the rest of the monster races.
All Andi knew was it was boring most of the time, the hunting and tracking was fun, but the cooking, cleaning, gathering, child rearing and all the other stuff women are expected to do in her tribe bored her to tears, quite literally sometimes. She doesn't hate being a girl, it's fun to tease the boys with her developing body sometimes.
She just hated being expected to settle down and give birth to cubs when her true love and skill was in hunting. As she grew her parents saw the restlessness in their youngest daughter and grew worried. They tried to set her up with eligible boys her age and try to convince her of the importance of her role in the tribe and how the tribe couldn't survive without homemakers and gatherers like her mother and grandmother.
None of it would sway the feisty little girl though so her grandfather, the Tribe's Chief gave her the chance she wanted. He knew about a school called St, Lorelei's where young Andi could become more than just a wife. The only hitch was this, she needed to hunt and bring down one of the White Rams that roams the high peaks, this was a test given to all young men before they could be called Warriors in the Tribe. If she killed it and brought it back he would allow her to go to the school. If she failed though she must promise to stop fighting the issue and settle into her expected role in the tribe. The young girl took the chance and the next day she was packed and ready for the long haul.
Leaving at dawn with her oldest brother Sorn acting as both a judge and guide for her. The trek up the mountain lasted well past midday. This wasn't uncommon, it often takes three days to a week to track down a White Ram and kill it. Her brother told her this but Andi was determined to be the exception to the rule, and prove she was ready to leave the tribe. Working hard through the night Andi and Sorn found their desired prey. It was in a snowy dale down the slopes of a mountain. Stalking after it the pair finally reached the dale of the White Ram. Night had just fallen on the end of the second day and Sorn forced his sister to rest and purify her body, otherwise she would taint the hunt. So reluctantly she meditated and slept for the night.
At dawn she woke up with the sound of Sorn lighting the fire. Having to stay pure Andi passed on the breakfast and went scouting. The rams had moved deeper into the dale and the young Were had to run to catch up. By late morning she was back on the trail of the ram, her body quivering with excitement as she got within range of her prey. Notching the blessed white arrow she was given for the sole purpose of killing the ram. She waited for the perfect shot, after a few minutes she saw it and took it. The bow string twanged softly and the arrow shot off like a beam of light. It plunged into the beast's side just behind its shoulder, the creature let out a gurgle before it fell.
Her whole bright future flashed before her eyes and the ram fell in slow motion. She hoped Sorn had seen that. A rustling made her heart skip just waiting to show her big brother the kill. The light left her hopes when it wasn't her brother that came through the brush, it was three fully grown Werewolves from the Blackclaw tribe that roamed around these mountains. The biggest one smiled evilly and looked the girl up and down and spoke.
"Well, well, such a pretty little poacher on our lands." He licked his lips undressing the girl with his eyes which considering she was just wearing a thin and short animal skin dress and moccasins wasn't too hard.
His friends laughed as one and the gray furred one spoke.
"Oh yes indeed, and cats are so flexible, I say we have some fun then leave her for the worms."
The leader laughed nodding.
"I agree fully." As they approached Andi the girl shook with fear, she was only given one arrow and she had already used it on the ram, she had a knife but it wouldn't do her much good. Dropping her bow she quickly changed into her Were form and tried running, but the Wolves were quicker pouncing on her the two cronies grabbed and shoved her down letting the leader have fun first. Luckily though Andi wasn't alone, with an ear splitting roar Sorn tore through the trees in his Were form. With surprise on his side he was able to kill the gray furred wolf quickly by ripping his head from it's shoulders.
"Run Andi!" He shouted to his sister kicking the other wolf away slashing at him with his long knife. Andi didn't need a second urging and took off on all fours into the trees, even in her fear though she couldn't abandon her brother. Climbing up the nearest tree she watched the bloody battle waiting for a chance to strike. The second cronie put up a fight and managed to hurt Sorn with help from the leader but that ended with Sorn ripping the dog's throat out. With his helpers dead the leader doubled his efforts in killing Sorn. They were both skilled warriors but Werecougars will always be stronger than Werewolves. Ten minutes passed and it looked like Sorn was going to win but the small hill he was on crumbled and he tumbled down losing his bloody knife.
Howling with glee the Wolf jumped down the hill and drove his knife into Sorn's shoulder pinning him to the dirt.
"Time to die kitty cat! Now I'm really gonna make your sister pay!" The Wolf went to rip Sorn's throat out with his teeth, but ever the fighter, Sorn held him off. Seeing her chance Andi jumped from her tree and drew her knife sneaking up on the wolf. She jumped onto his back and jammed the knife in deep enough to puncture his heart. Tossing Andi off his back and howling in pain the wolf went to slash the girl to bits but the damage was done with a huff and spitting up blood the wolf fell over dead. Crying softly Andi crawled to Sorn's side and pulled the knife out.
"Sorn! Sorn! speak to me!" She shook her big brother until he coughed and held his shoulder where the knife was.
"I'm good, quit shaking me. I saw both of those kills, good job." He slowly got to his feet and stumbled to the dead ram with Andi helping him walk his blood dripping over her. There was only one thing left to do, kneeling by the ram and dipping his hand in the beast's blood he slapped his paw onto it's side and wrote his name. Kind of like writing off on her passing grade. It was the last thing he would ever do sadly, with a sigh he fell to his back and smiled up at the sun before his spirit went back to nature, leaving his body behind. Upon seeing her bother roll over like that Andi screamed tears pouring down. Burying her face in Sorn's bloody chest she wept into the night.
When the tears finally dried up the young Were had a choice, she could carrying the ram down and show that she had passed the test because the dead and marked body would need to be seen, she couldn't just skin it and leave the meat. Her other choice was to leave the ram and bring Sorn back to the village for a proper burial. In the end the choice was clear waiting for Sorn to transform back into his human form she picked up his long knife and chopped off the right hands of the wolves that had attacked them. With everything in place she hefted Sorn onto her shoulders and trudged out of the mountains with the heavy body of her brother dragging along on a pine-bough skid behind her.
She reached her village at the end of the fifth day, her body sore and her eyes red from crying. The look-outs raised the alarm as they passed the gates. She was surrounded by the villagers asking what had happened and where was the ram. She spoke to none of them and pushed on through to her grandfather's long house. He met her at the door and simply nodded, she had made the right choice and he would keep his end of the bargain. With all her dreams coming true Andi fell over onto her brother's skid a deep sleep overcoming her.
She awoke two days later with minor injuries and hunger overruling her sorrow at losing Sorn. The next week went by quick, Sorn's funeral, a meeting with the Blackclaw Chief to stave off a war, this was easier when the news came across those three had just been thrown out of the tribe for dishonoring their way of life. And finally the day of Andi's enrollment in St.Lorelei's her grandfather met with the Senior Master to hammer out the details then the big teacher took the young girl with him when he went back to the school. Now with everything set and all her clothes brought to her dorm she's ready to start school.
