I read through some old battles where the person who killed their opponent lost the judging... didn't make much sense to me.

Did you read through last year's fights?

Or at least have defeating the opponent count for something of the judging. X points to one of the categories.

Some of them, yes. In this fight and this one, the people who obviously died in battle magically got resurrected through "act of judge" and won, even though they died. That doesn't make much sense to me.

    Naw

Defeating people shouldn't count. That doesn't reflect the skill of the writers.

Of course it does. A skilled writer knows how to win. That's all that matters in a fight... winning or losing. Who lives to fight in the next round, and who dies and is eliminated.

No, it doesn't. It's reflective of strategy, not writing skill. The judging should be based on the talent of the writers.

In that sense, you're heavily penalizing strategic writers who know how to win a fight but don't like to write five paragraphs describing a flower.

Combat is about strategy, pure and simple.

But this is a writing challenge, for people who write.

BUTTTT--instead of winning or losing, creativity would be an acceptable substitute.

The best strategy in the world is useless if you lack the ability to effectively write it... so in essence, both of them are essential if you're going to win a fight.

Some people have much more strategic and tactical ways of writing combat than others do. They shouldn't be penalized for being effective, that makes no sense to me.
