Appearance:
The most stunning feature Constantine could boast is her stunning pair of heterochromatic eyes. Her left eye is a rare shade of amethyst, slightly tilting to pink around the center while her right eye is a shade of unnatural gold. Stunning as her eyes are physically, they rarely show any emotion beyond irritation, arrogance and indifference. Despite this, she seems to at least have quite a small sense of humor lingering on her lips. If she could talk, she’d probably be a sarcastic sort. Long, golden brown hair tumble past her shoulders, giving her an almost small, yet fragile look with the way she carries herself. Constantine is short, something she has accepted in her entire existence of being 5’1. And yet, she cares little for her lack in height, might even exploit it. Petite, with all the right curves in the right places, it’s no surprise that she dresses to her heritage. Often wearing dresses, the young brunette is considered to be a buttoned-up sort of lass, not finding it necessary to show skin under her clothes. There are times when she does decide to change her outfit for the sake of necessity though. She looks quite comfortable in her Victorian frills and wavy skirts.
A constant companion she has was a dainty white eksheed with brown eyes. Nanashi was her constant companion, and the dainty little thing carried the same quiet and almost haughty demeanor of her master, but was more polite about it. Dressed in a tiny coat, with ribbons adorning her fur, she serves mostly as a messenger from home, and Constantine’s guardian angel. The eksheed brings messages and may appear at the most random at times.
Personality:
Quiet; The one word that describes her perfectly. She doesn’t talk, at all, and no one is sure if it’s because she can’t talk or if it’s because she refuses to talk. Either seems plausible. Constantine acts like the young heiress she is destined to be; all prim and proper, with polite table manners and an elegant gait. No one is even sure why she joined Fairy Tail in the first place. Her silence keeps her shrouded in mystery, and she prefers it that way. Obviously, she doesn’t like people getting in her space, though for some reason, she fits in well with the social crowd.
Her means of communication are her pens and sketchpads, sign language and her PDA, a tiny electronic device that taps into the user’s mind in order to convey what they want to say. Mostly, she prefers her PDA and is never seen without it. On the other hand, Constantine is very animal friendly, to the point that she wouldn’t mind if a large group of bears kidnap her and let her in their cave to rest. She has a way with them, and, is by no means, fussy about it. Animals can get her clothes dirty. Humans cannot. She will turn them to stone if it’s the last thing she does.
Also, the young lass prefers to work in small groups, alone if she could help it, but mostly agrees to work in two’s. According to her, a large group is troublesome to watch over, and they mess with her capabilities. Needless to say, she may be pretty, but isn’t the most well-liked person in the guild. However, Constantine has proven herself loyal to those around her, to her team, to her guild and to her cause. Her ways of mischief are almost underhanded at times and since she does try to stay relatively away from the brawling crowds (no one knows how she gets away from the everyday chaos of the guild) you’d find her in the corner, from the shadows, sipping her drink and eating cake, elegantly deflecting anything and anyone flying her way. Same goes for her style in battle. You almost forget she’s there before you find her already poised to kill you.
Cold and usually unattached, she seldom sheds tears and her smiles are often sardonic, taunting and generally uninterested. There are those tiny, playful smiles though, but mostly, her genuine grins are rare. It’s as if she had cut herself off from the world, unafraid to hurt others if it meant protecting someone else. She was likened to a rose, beautiful, but has sharp thorns ready to cut your fingers if you go as far as touch her. Her rare, soft, happy smiles were reserved for those only close to her heart. Those who are able to see such a beautiful picture would often say that she was a young angel, constantly worrying with eyes as bright as the stars, or something just as poetic.
Brief History:
The Von Schwerze bloodline is composed of musicians and painters aiming high in the social ladder. They’re well known for their music and portraits, but not so much as their magic. That said, when Constantine was born, it was strange to see the girl’s affinity for magic. She was the perfect heiress; smart, beautiful, talented and was sought after by many. However, what set her diffe4rent was her abilities, making her even more special as her family began to treat her like a prized possession. She didn’t mind though, and never voiced out a complaint.
The youngest to three siblings, the older two of which are boys, left her as the constant trophy. The eldest, Miles, was an upcoming musician who her parents were very proud of. Like her, he too was a prim, and proper young gentleman who obeyed his parents and was set to be at the top of the music industry. She looked up to him, still does. However, when he turned twenty-five, the entire family was scandalized to find out that their little golden boy refused betrothal, and opted to run away with his lover, another young man who was supposed to be Constantine’s own future husband. She didn’t mind the arrangement at all, and rumors say that the family disowned Miles, though it was strange that he was still in contact with his family and little sister. She often visits him during Sundays and Saturdays, staying over for dinner and tea while teasing her brother on his non-existent cooking skills and asking him when she would get a niece or a nephew. While the upper class turned their noses up at this, she welcomed it, her family trying their best to cover this up.
With the attention off her eldest brother, it was set on her second eldest, another young man with a smile as bright as the sun itself. Carmelo was the one who definitely didn’t look like his siblings. He was well known for his natural tan, blonde hair, bright eyes and a heart warmer than the sun. He was a playful thing, and a flirt, often got booted in the ass by both his siblings, a sign that despite their elite status, the children could kick butt, and was there to support the family with his smiles and unwavering optimism when Miles ‘ran away’ from home. He was the first one to tell his parents I knew it. You owe me twenty. While his parents forked over their money to him. He was also the one who suggested to fake everything else, while keeping their family knitted together. He was the sun to Miles’s moon, and Constantine the stars.
But the happy days after the storm were not yet over.
Now, the Von Schwerze family was also known for being avid animal lovers; their arms open to any stray. The estate was full of dogs, cats, birds… animals. There was even a bear by the back woods. All the children had their own pets, but one night, a small, tattered dog stumbled into the estate, and as expected, the family took the poor thing in.
The days started to go downhill from there. There were threats sent to the last of the children, showing interest in their so-called powers. This frightened her parents considerably, and as a precaution, kept their precious daughter safe and sound. It was all good, for a while. With all the attention on Constantine, No one had noticed how Carmelo was starting to fade into the background. No one noticed him, sans his little sister. Two months later, he disappeared from the closed confines of his room, the tattered puppy they took in left as a foreboding warning of his disappearance. The second child disappearing sent the family into a frantic panic, until Constantine decided that she had to take matters in her own hands. The evening she told her parents her decision, a letter was slid from under their front door. It only had four words.
-I’ll be waiting Constantine.
Magic:
The Orchestra
The Orchestra is magic apparently from earlier generations of her family that was lost for the last couple of years and has two (currently) known forms, for Constantine at least. It’s powerful, but very draining magic and it will take time for her to be able to use her magic in long battles. As of now, she could hold herself relatively well for give or take five hours, but reaching her maximum would leave her exhausted and in need of rest.
It works similar to that of a re-equip mage with their swords, except, she summons musical instruments and the occasional form. The Orchestra’s weakness, of course, is that it affects her allies as well, usually the same way it affects her enemies. That, and after every concert, she is completely vulnerable and possibly drained of magic to the point of collapsing.
The Orchestra: Concertino
Her main weapon is her armonica, a glass weapon that she uses in both combat and everyday life. Pretty much anything that produces sound can be a weapon, however, her armonica is the instrument she is most familiar and comfortable with. Her other common instruments are the keyboard, the flute, an orcania and the violin. Concertino is mostly a support/passive-offensive type of form, compared to The Orchestra’s more aggressive other form Maestro. It drains her of magic while the music plays and is left usually open and/or vulnerable to outside attack. Unfortunately, two spells cannot be cast at the same time, and once one stops, the other starts, thus effects cannot be stacked and at some instances, may even cancel each other out.
Largo (A Rank)
Largo, slow and dignified is a support-type magic that could work well for her allies or not, depending on her perception of them. Largo slows down infections and bleeding out, as well as the spread of poison. It also slows down her enemy’s movements, making everything very fast for them while it gives her allies the effect of being faster than normal. However, it also comes with bouts of nausea and confusion that would often times cause changes in vision and mild auditory hallucination.
Adagio (A Rank)
Adagio affects those who hear it based on her perception of how she likes them. Technically, it heals allies, if she considers them as such with friendly emotions, but will cause vibrations in the air that will mess with the enemy’s state of balance, causing nausea, headache, and on severe occasions, nosebleeds, auditory and visual hallucination and confusion. It can happen to allies too. A positive effect of Adagio is when it heals wounds that are not so life threatening, such as a stab would or poisoning. However, when the person is minutes from dying by bleeding, there is nothing she can do.
Presto (A Rank)
Presto means very fast, as fast as possible. Her allies would gain speed, as fast as possible, though it may not have the desired effects most of the time. Her enemies, on the other hand would be susceptible to seeing white flashes in time with the song, causing distortion in their sight the more they hear the music. Presto also slows down their perception of time, making it easier for them to be attacked than to attack. Again, the effects of Presto is also affected by how much she considers her allies her ‘allies’ and while they may have the bonus of increased speed, they could also experience sharp, white flashes that would disorient them, and in worst case scenarios, cause hallucinations of the auditory and visual kind.
Dolce (C Rank)
Compared to her earlier spells, Dolce is a sweeter spell, a sweeter hymn that sweetly lulls children to sleep and invokes mild visual hallucination of saccharine and sweet moments in a person’s life. It calls upon those moments which they treasure dear, manipulating them to see it again in such sweet, loving tones that often let her enemies lower their guard. Dolce calls upon the loving innocence that is usually present in lovers, children and families, removing all the bad temporarily from the picture into a sense of gentle security, which may or may not be exploited by her allies. Some allies allegedly claim that along with the music, they hear a soft, sweet, child-like voice that keeps them rooted to reality, something enemies cannot hear apparently. You just have to strain your ears to listen to it. Constantine makes no comment on this.
Pesante (C Rank)
Pesante is probably the cruelest of spells in her spell set. Unlike Dolce, Pesante invokes auditory hallucinations of the darkest and most painful moments in one’s memory. It relives the auditory torture, drowning out other sounds and more often than not, completely overloads one’s hearing to the point of pain. Pesante hurts you, calls upon your fear and your past failures. It makes one in pain, bringing heaviness in their heart. Unfortunately, it also affects her allies. Again, allies claim to hear a soft voice tearfully calling out to them, begging them to focus and not waste any opportunities. They say the ‘voice’ lulls and secures, giving one a gentle, calm peace of mind that overrides the horrible hallucinations. You just have to listen for it, hard. Again, Constantine makes no comment on this.
Constantino Overture (S Rank)
Following the tempo fast-slow-fast, Constantino Overture, or just Constantino for short, would send out music that freezes those who would hear it, only allowing them to move in the speed of the opposite of the current tempo. For example, the tempo starts fast; the enemy’s movements would be delayed, while her allies would gain speed. If it starts slow, it would speed up her enemies and disorient them while granting a healing effect to her allies. However, the quick change of tempo may cause nausea and confusion to both parties and it leaves her disoriented in return.
The Orchestra: Maestro
Maestro only has one weapon, a long rapier with music notes adorning the handle. Unlike Concertino, Maestro is an offensive form of The Orchestra. It takes up less energy and is one of the main reasons she prefers going solo. Since it focuses on offense, it leaves her vulnerable and is easily knocked down if she takes a hit, if you hit her that is. Maestro’s effects can be simply described as precision, tempo and form. The added bonus is that you could hear music playing as she moves in to attack. Unfortunately, it’s not very good for stealth.
Pianissimo (A Rank)
Accompanied by a soft tone, Pianissimo’s movements are agile, swift, focusing more on the fluidity of movement as she speeds up, creating a warping effect. Her strikes are soft, barely felt and feather-like, but they sap energy, more focused on subtly harming her enemies by bringing them to complete and utter exhaustion with every hit. It relies heavily on speed and footwork so the desired teleporting effect would be achieved. However, the more she uses it, the slower she gets after every hit.
Fortissimo (A Rank)
On the other hand, Fortissimo is loud, accompanied by booming tones to startle or disorient enemies as she attacks them with rapid, strong slashes and finishes up with shooting a sound wave from the tip of her blade. The ‘wave’ can cut through rock and bend steel when up close. It focuses more on form as her position often guides how strong or how weak her strikes are. However, each strike may leave her a little unbalanced, teetering on her feet during a particularly strong strike.
Tremolo (B Rank)
Her sword slashes cause multiple vibrations sailing through the air, slicing anything in their path. It can slice cleanly through wood and dent metal. The farther the target, the stronger it is. The closer the target, the weaker the attack. The only downside is that this attack is rather slow as it travels so unless you’re really caught unaware, there’s a small chance of one being hit by the sound waves, especially since they create a loud booming sound in their wake.
Constantino Overture (S Rank)
Unlike its other form, Constantino is a mixture of swift, precise strikes and heavy power, kind of like a merge of Pianissimo and Fortissimo played in one tone. It’s fast. It’s deadly,. It’s Powerful. It’s completely exhausting. The attack form is her last resort. After the attack, Constantine would pass out from exhaustion almost immediately, leaving her completely vulnerable to any and all attacks, kind of like a one-time use power-up or a last hurrah before she passes out.
