Julian opened his eyes when he heard her call. He'd been dozing a little, but now he was wide awake again. He sat up a little, though his muscles ached all over. He put on his best smile as the door opened. He wanted to see the kids really badly.

Lily grinned, holding up the glass of juice. "Daddy! We made dinner for you!" She said proudly. She walked over and handed Julian the glass. Alicia helped Tommy lift the tray onto Julian's lap before lifting Tommy and Lily onto the bed. She smiled and kissed Julian's cheek. "Tommy read the instructions and Lily helped me make them."

Julian smiled genuinely now, taking the glass from Lily. He put it down on his nightstand and hugged both kids tightly. He looked exhausted, and he was still shaking. "Thank you... You're the sweetest little kids in the world.
Lily hugged Julian tightly. "Daddy? When will you start feeling better?"

"Probably in less than a week, sweetheart," he said softly. He kissed her hair. "I love you kids so much."

"Yeah daddy!" Tommy chimed in. Julian smiled and nodded. His stomach ached in disagreement, but Julian ignored it and took a bite of the breadsticks. His body seemed to instantly reject the food, and he had to fight a wave of nausea that brought along the urge to throw up. But he kept it down and gave the kids a wan smile.
"They're so good, you two."
Alicia stroked Julian's hair. She knew that he could barely keep the food down. He did his best for the kids. "Now you saw him. Go on and play. Let daddy eat and rest." She said. Lily shook her head.
"No! I wanna stay with daddy!"

"Me too!" Tommy declared. Julian squeezed the kids' hands.
"I'm very tired, little ones. And I don't think I can eat a lot right now, even though I very much appreciate you personally making dinner in bed for me. If you really want to stay here, I'm going to need you to be quiet. We can maybe watch a movie together."
Lily pouted a bit before smiling. She hugged him happily before nodding. "What do you want to watch?" She asked.
