He hugged her back, stroking her hair. "Me neither," he said softly. He closed his eyes, plagued by guilt. He should have imagined it. He should have been prepared for this. Maybe then he wouldn't have given away the truth like that. He could have kept his composure and told Lauren to shove off. Now... Now he had confirmed everything for her.
She started to cry again. "I'm just... I'm so scared." She held him tightly as she sobbed into his shoulder. *I.... I don't know what to do. I have to meet with her. But I have no control..."

He silently cried with her as he held her. "...We have no choice," he murmured. He took a deep breath. "Listen, it's going to be okay. It has to be." He was convincing himself as much as her. "We can pick the time and place."

"Me too," he said softly. "I can ask her to meet us tonight. Somewhere far from here."
She nodded. "What about the kids?" She asked softly. She wiped her tears away, trying to calm herself down. She was terribly shaken from all of this. She never imagined that anyone else would figure out who she was. "She's too much like you... I hate it..." She whispered.

He huggedher tightly again when he saw the frihhtened look on her face. Gods, how was he going to tell her that this was his fault? He should have expected this, he should have been prepared... And he taught her all about hunting people down. This was such a cruel twist of fate. He stroked her hair and rocked her a little. "...I'm so sorry," he murmured.
She buried her face into his chest as she held onto him. Her rock. Her partner.... The one who saved her. "Don't apologise..." She murmured. "We will fix this like we did everything else..."
