Tom was silent for the longest time. She forgave him? That was huge... And quick. He suddenly felt very alone in his pain. To him, the fact that they even committed such atrocities was a bigger part of the problem than the fact that he and Lily had found out. He knew it was never his parent's intention to let them know. But that didn't change what they did. He felt a little sick all of a sudden. Lily seemed to have made up her mind already. She was siding with their parents. She was endorsing their past, and she was not going to turn them in. And now it was just him that still needed to choose. Just him that still thought this was bad enough to break their family. He would not only hurt his parents if he went to the police... he'd hurt his sister too. He'd probably lose her, if he wasn't already. That was the last thing he wanted. For this to come between them. He needed her, but he couldn't agree with her right now.
"...I think I need to go," he said softly, and then hung up the phone. He ran his hands through his hair and then bit down on his sleeve, trying to keep himself from screaming.
