Alicia froze. The answer got caught in her throat. For a moment, she thought that they knew. They knew her past. Her history as the phantom. She had a panicked look on her face for a moment before realizing that Rory must have told them about her kidnapping and how she escaped. "Y-yes... Yes I did." She said softly, looking down trying to compose herself.

Tom noticed her panicked look, holding on to his sister still. "...Out of self-defense?" he asked, wanting her to say yes, to tell him she had had no other choice.
Alicia slowly nodded. "Yes. Out of self defense. They would have killed me otherwise." Wasn't a complete lie. It was self defense but they also had to die because they knew her secret.

Tom looked at her intently. "...What exactly is your connection with the phantom?"
She took a deep breath. "Well. I'm connected to your father and I was vulnerable." She said. "They wanted to contact the phantom or something and wanted to get me to find her for them. I didn't know how to of course. No one has seen the phantom for years. They threatened to kill me. I managed to escape the ropes. Had lots of practice in my childhood with that."

Tom frowned a little. That didn't add up. At all. If this gang wanted the phantom, why go through all the trouble of kidnapping her under the assumption she could somehow contact the phantom, even though she had never officially been part of the investigation? Using her as leverage seemed more plausible, but still a little far-fetched. Going after their dad would have been the more logical option.
"...Who were they?" Tom asked slowly, ignoring her remark about her childhood for now.
Alicia bit her lip and glanced at Julian. "I don't remember... I tried to forget that entire experience." She said softly. "It was some local group that have national ties."
