[M] Unexpected Deadly Romance (Me and NoviDome)

Tom chuckled and sipped at his hot chocolate. "I bet they don't... My teachers can be the same way sometimes. Except dad, of course."

[Sparkz]

She grinned. "I know how you feel. But dad knows you're smart and you pick up on things quickly enough. You've always been that way."

He smiled proudly. "I have, haven't I?" He sighed softly, his mind still going over the case. He didn't think it had stopped since his conversation with his supervisor. Something seemed off, something was... wrong. But he couldn't quite put his finger on it yet.

[Sparkz]

Tom just had this Faraway look in his eyes after a bit. Lily took a sip of her drink before nudging his foot. "Hey whats wrong?"

He blinked and looked at her, sighing a little. "The case, it just doesn't seem to add up... I feel like something's missing. Something big."

[Sparkz]

She cocked her head. "What do you mean? There's a hole in Dad's investigation? He went after the phantom until mom got kidnapped and hurt. Then the phantom disappeared."

[NoviDome]

Tom chewed on his lip. "There's so much more to it. And the fact that the possibility of a mole inside the police force was never investigated further is part of it." He looked at Lily. "We know that dad dropped the case after mom got taken. He was the only one who had ever gotten close to catching her. The Phantom could have had free game after him stepping down, but she disappeared instead..."

[Sparkz]

Lily thought for a moment. "you know... That is weird... The phantom should have continued to strike but she stopped... Couldn't be that dad let her go and made her promise. That's stupid.'

[NoviDome]

"He probably tried," Tom said with a slight chuckle. "But she wouldn't have had any reason to agree. Besides... didn't she kidnap mom to scare dad away from the case? Why would she stop when she reached that goal? Did she want out of the industry, maybe? But why the sudden change of heart? Her behaviour up to that moment doesn't show any signs of stopping."

[Sparkz]

"No. I recall them being signs of a desperate woman." She thought for a bit. "Unless... You think Dad saw who she was but made some deal for mom? Like he wouldn't reveal who she was if she spared mom?"
