Alicia smiled a bit. "Hey kids. Did you have a good walk?"
"yeah mom." She said softly. "Did you eat everything?"
"Yeah, it wasn't too bad."

Tom didn't say anything. He just sat down in a chair, watching them. Julian looked at him and then back at Alicia. "Maybe we should all get some sleep. It's the middle of the night, and we've had a long day."

Alicia smiled a bit when Julian spoke. "Yeah. I'm still pretty tired. Who would have thought that eating would be tiring?" She couldn't stand the silence, especially Tom's silence. She knew that they needed to talk but she was too tired now. Hopefully the morning would bring clarity. She sighed a bit. "Well... Good night every one. Sleep well."
Lily smiled. "Good night mom." She replied, stifling a yawn. She looked at Tom and smiled as well. "Try to get some sleep Tom."

Tom glanced at Lily and looked down. "I... I think I'd like to go home," he said softly. He got up slowly. "I just need some... space. I'll be back in the morning. I'm sorry." He bit his lips and left the room. Julian frowned and got up to go after him.

Lily looked up at him, she was about to go after him when Julian got up. She looked down again before looking at Alicia. Alicia coughed a bit and winced as the door shut behind Tom. She closed her eyes and tried to hold back tears. She wanted to cry but she couldn't. She didn't have any tears left.

Julian squeezed her hand gently before going after Tom. "Tom!" he called out when he spotted him, and caught up to him. Tom had his arms wrapped around himself and shook his head, not slowing down. "Tom, come on," Julian said, grabbing his shoulder. Tom moved away from his hand and looked at him.
"Dad... Please. I said I need space. Let me have it." Julian looked at him for a moment, and then pulled him into a hug. Tom closed his eye and hugged him back.
"...I'm sorry. I'm just worried."
"...I deserve that."
"Should I be?"
"...No. I... I don't think so."
"I'm sure Lily will come with you if you ask."
"I don't want that. I just want to be alone."
"...Okay. I trust you." Tom pulled away a little and looked at him.
"Even after this morning?" Julian nodded.
"We'll talk about everything tomorrow. I expect you to come back safe and sound." Tom nodded.
"I will."
"Good. I love you, son. We all do." Tom bit his lips and nodded before turning and walking outside.

Lily sat with Alicia in silence. Lily was worried about Tom but she knew that their dad could handle it. Alicia opened her eyes after a while and looked to Lily.
"Hey... I'm sure he'll be fine. We're going to talk in the morning. Get it all out in the open. Okay?" Lily nodded
"I know. I just...."
"You worry like your parents, Lil."

Julian watched Tom leave, and then went back to Alicia's room. "Tom will be back in the morning," he said softly. "He said he wants to be alone."

Alicia smiled weakly. "Okay. I'm sure he'll be fine. Just.... Try to sleep."
Lily nodded. "Okay mom. Good night." Lily curled up in the chair that Tom vacated and closed her eyes in an attempt to sleep.

Julian went back to sit next to Alicia, and wrapped one of the blankets around himself. "I'm right here. Get some rest, okay?"
