Never-Ending Conquest Places

[Tolvo]

Never-Ending Conquest focuses on the land surrounding a sea known as the White Sea. It is here where the series of intermingling factions and wars can be found. The White Sea is known for being surrounded by the lands of the Barbarians, Western Empire, Five Kingdoms, Destruin, Southern Kingdoms, and Southern Dominion.

Barbarian Lands

Spoiler: Barbardun 

Barbardun was the capital of the Barbarian lands. It was once a expansive city with moderate walls which acted as a hub for the many tribes and clans. Among their lands it was one of the few places of peace. At the very center of Barbardun sits a wooden keep of great thickness which was used most often as a meeting hall where warring groups could hold talks. At times Barbardun was full of tension but never had any of the tribes or clans assaulted its walls. Barbardun is located in the middle of a large forest clearing with roads leading in plenty of directions allowing trade to flourish in the region. Even those of other lands enjoyed the presence of Barbardun for the great exchanges made possible and trade routes made safer by its existence. All of this changed when the Western Empire attacked. During their siege they rounded up all of Barbardun's citizens and slew many of its defenders. Those who were captured were forced into slavery while the citizens were replaced by those who lived within the Empire. Now an Imperial city it is closed off to the West and to the South, remaining only open to the Empire.

Spoiler: Barbat 

A center of trade in Barbarian lands, Barbat is considered a secondary capital to Barbardun. After the loss of Barbardun to the Western Empire the Barbarians have taken to fleeing as refugees to Barbat. It sees many clans using its walls for protection, though they suffer from food shortages. Barbat has the greatest navy of the Barbarians and is ruled over by Brynhildr the Wise.

Spoiler: Brak 

Brak is the Easternmost settlement of the Elves of the Western Wilds. It is here that the majority of Barbarian dealings are made with the elusive and frequently violent Elves. Within Brak one will find both Barbarians and Wilds Elves living in what harmony they can manage. Fights are common and it is expected for one to be armed in Brak, it is a place mainly for warriors. It is within Brak as well that Barbarians who live on the fringe of society make their homes, unable to live among humans and Orcs they turn to the more brutal lifestyle of Elves.

Spoiler: Branse 

Ruled by the Skimdal Clan, Branse is a port city that mainly trades with the far North and Barbat. It is where the majority of giant hunters come from, a business that has ended recently with the inclusion of giants into the Barbarian ranks. Still the Jotunn stay far from this place, as it features many of their bones and is more of an ominous graveyard to them. There is still animosity between the Slayers of Barbat and the JotuNn.

Spoiler: Crone's Tower 

An ancient and powerful arcane tower of mysterious origin is found in the North of the Barbarian lands. This tower is known as the home of a powerful and prophet woman simply known as the Crone. She lives in isolation and only allows those who are destined for great deeds to visit her. To the Barbarians she is a both divine and wicked creature of both order and chaos. Her tower is carved from stone and is impressive in size even by Dominion engineering. Those who wander into the tower who are not worthy are said to never be heard from again.

Spoiler: Dusl 

In the shadow of the Barbarian Mountains rests the town of Dusl. Dusl sees almost year long frosts and is known to be a humble settlement for those who wish to live outside of the tradition of going on raids, or vikings. It is for those who wish to live not as a viker but as crafters, farmers, builders, and much more. Though civilians are found in all Barbarian settlements Dusl lacks any formal warriors.

Spoiler: Fort Barga 

Built long ago, Fort Barga was constructed by Barbarians of old to be a bastion for standing against the giants. It even faced a siege from the ancient Jotunn King Gorgejor who died in battle at Barga. Normally the skull of Gorgejor was kept at Barga but after striking an alliance with the Jotunn a part of their terms was the return of their old ruler's skull so he may be put to rest finally. Barga is a massive fortress made of stone and wood that has stood the test of time.

Spoiler: Fort Grul 

During the ancient Barbarian wars Barbardun wished to be free of the raids of its Western Barbarians. To aid in this they constructed Grul, a large stone fortress at the base of the Great Barbarian Mountains that cut off movement in the North. It forced Western Barbarian tribes to attack Herebjor instead of Barbardun's lands. Now it is the West's protection from the invading Empire in their lands.

Spoiler: Halfjorde Woods 

These are the woods where the Halfjorde Clan used to live before the days of large cities and towns. It is their home again after the loss of Barbardun, where Iskar the One-Eye makes his camps as he raids Imperial lands. These woods were once believed to be sacred places of druidic power but those legends have proven false with the lack of magical babies born within the woods.

Spoiler: Herebjor 

Herebjor was once a mere village that grew over time as more and more of the nomadic Western Barbarians crossed the Serpent River to settle down. Because of this it transformed into a rather sprawling city without walls that uses the natural defenses of the forests and its Eastern towers to protect it. In Herebjor is where most of the Barbarian smiths are found and where it is said some of the best swords and axes in the realm are crafted. Herebjor is ruled by a council of clan leaders.

Spoiler: Hjel 

Hjel is technically outside of Barbarian lands, but was a settlement of theirs. Ironically the Barbarians had taken it from their previous owners and now it has been wrested from the Barbarians by the Western Empire.

Spoiler: Otte 

Otte was once a hellish settlement constantly raided by Elves of the Western Wilds. In recent centuries as the Barbarians and Elves have grown closer what was once a place of death became a quiet and calm retreat. Those who wish to retire their ways of raiding often come to Otte to settle down away from society.

Spoiler: Skimdal Woods 

A teeming habitat, the Skimdal woods are known as the best hunting grounds in Barbarian lands. It is here that one can hunt wildlife without fear of repercussion from roaming Elves laying claim over a land. The Skimdal clan originated from these woods before they migrated and settled across the Serpent River. Still the return to it annually and take part in competitive hunts to prove one's own prowess.

Spoiler: Vintel 

Vintel is a town to the South in Barbarian lands. It is small and meager but boasts a powerful mining tradition. It is from here that most ore in Barbarian lands come and with its proximity to Barbat and Herebjor it sees a good deal of trade. Vintel has a high population of Orcs with a great deal of them arriving to do manual labor long ago. Now it is a majority Orc town though humans and the rare Elf still reside within.

Spoiler: Vulk 

Vulk is a holy land for the Barbarians, it is here that most Valkyr and mages reside. To live in the land is to be considered in the service of the holy ones. No Barbarian warlord lays claim here and all are expected to be humble when visiting. The large town known simply as Vulk at its center contains a mass grave full of various barrows that grow in number every year. It is tradition to bring great individuals here in death so they may eternally rest or be raised by the Valkyr.

Spoiler: Western Wilds 

Along the Westernmost parts of the Barbarian lands are thick woods known as the Western Wilds. These woods are vast and dense and their edges are not currently known, for they expand further than anyone has dared to travel. Even the Elves do not truly know what is beyond their lands. It is these very woods where the majority of Elves live. These wilds are incredibly dangerous and with how xenophobic the Elves are it is far more dangerous to other mortals. It is known as perhaps the best place in the world to find game but the privilege of hunting here is restricted to Elves alone. Outsiders are often shot or clubbed to death on sight.

Destruin's Lands

Spoiler: Armageddon 

Armageddon is a massive Volcano to the Northeast of Destruin's lands. It is there that Great Destroyer Azkayikal emerged into the world alongside an eruption that shook the very Earth. Armageddon is not dormant and still daily oozes lava down its sides.

Spoiler: Demon's Head 

Demon's Head used to be a castle by the name of Lidil, that was all before the Great Destroyer Azkayikal came. During his arrival he laid waste to its armies, killed those who did not bow before him, and destroyed the keep of the castle turning it into a throne large enugh for Great Destroyer Azkayikal to sit upon. Now it is here that he roosts and plans his world domination.

Spoiler: Devil's Wing 

Devil's Wing was constructed out of the ruins of a city wiped from the records of history by Destruin. By using the ruins as a base the demons of this city managed to construct tall spires on which they thrive. It is a community with a lot of flying creatures and those with an affinity for climbing. It is ruled over by the gargoyle Wing Commander Devil's Wing whom which the city is named after.

Spoiler: Evilville 

Evilville is a mockery through and through. It is where most of the lesser demons and mortals reside within Destruin. This city mimics the appearance of a normal city yet once inside it is revealed how horrific it is. Giant beasts roam the streets, blood paints nearly every wall, and masses of crushed bones are used as chew toys for demons with powerful jaws. It is ruled over by Dread Queen Talisandra who likes to host balls and banquets featuring live mortals for meals and not just erotic dancing but shamefully erotic dancing.

Spoiler: Middle Finger 

Middle Finger was once a city under the control of the Empire, that all changed when Destruin was founded and the formerly weak Western Kingdoms were crushed leaving in their stead terrifying monsters and demons. After the conquering of this city which was once called West Ex it was renamed to Middle Finger by its ruler the King of Hate. He named the city as such as its taking was a grand middle finger to the Empire.

Spoiler: Ruination Summit 

Ruled by the Dark Host Kane, Ruination Summit is a massive sprawling and dark fortress that was erected in Destruin's Eastern territory. While much of Destruin is full of chaos there is an order to Ruination Summit that is due largely in part to the rule of it by Kane. Ruination Summit has actual laws. It is from here that many of the hordes of Destruin gain their casters, as Ruination Summit has a large training ground for mages led yet again by Kane. A ley line which is used for drawing horrible and destructive energies.

Spoiler: Rundown 

Rundown is where demons go to relax. It is a large city full of rubble and refuse. When here demons prefer not to fight or do much of anything but rest and eat. Rundown is their paradise and they will defend its existence with their very lives. It is ruled by the Sleepy Bull a giant muscular monstrosity.

Spoiler: Troll Mountains 

To the Southwest of Destruin are the Troll Mountains. These vast ranges and peaks are home to all of Troll-kind. The Troll-kin constantly wage war with one another and only do they settle matters with bloodshed. Cannibalism is very common here with the Mountain Trolls often struggling against their smaller cousins who attack in swarms.

Five Kingdoms'/Ryudeshi Empire's Lands

Spoiler: Bei 

Known as the Celestial City, Bei is the Northernmost of the Five Kingdoms. Its city was built long ago by the ancient people that lived in the region. It was carved into the side of a mountain where it was said tremors could be felt from the dragons living underground. Bei is exceedingly tall with many platforms intended to be used for spotting Celestial Dragons in the sky. This city is the religious capital of the Five Kingdoms open to the public, with Longtan being held as a sacred place.

Spoiler: Burning/Frigid Islands 

A series of islands off the coast of Nan, the Burning Islands are an ancient ally and enemy of the Five Kingdoms. Through the ages they've traded and mixed cultures a great deal to the point where foreigners may not recognize where one ends and one begins. It is ruled over by a shogun who is a supreme military leader. Formerly the Burning Islands had head monarchs but the line of shoguns took over after a bloody series of wars.

Spoiler: Dadao 

Referred to as the "Sword of the North," Dadao is an ancient tower built long ago to aid in keeping invaders out of the Five Kingdoms. It is designed to look like a great sword stuck in the ground. It is built between the Longryu river and the Western reaches meaning any who wish to invade from the North must get past this defense.

Spoiler: Dong 

Dong is situated in the East. It is considered to be the bastion against nomadic invaders from the Northeast. Dong was built long ago as a fort which overlooked a town. Eventually as more people flocked to its safety it grew in size with the fort and town joining into a city.

Spoiler: Faali Shrine 

An ancient shrine of unknown origins. It is believed Faali was first built to watch the dragons in the sky. It has an open ceiling in its inner chambers that can view the sky from atop the mountains. Later on Faali Shrine became a battle site between the Demon Emperor's forces and those of the Nan Rebels. Baigujing, the Demon Emperor, fell during the battle and his body was placed within the shrine to house and protect it. Even later still this shrine would become the initiation spot for the war between the Five Kingdoms and the Deathborne.

Spoiler: Hexin 

Hexin started out as farmlands that mainly dealt with fields of rice. As more and more farmers gathered trade routes were set up and eventually a port was built. Around this port the city of Hexin grew to be. Hexin became the crown jewel of the Five Kingdoms and was known as the birthplace of the first Emperor. From then on each Emperor stayed in the palace of Hexin.

Spoiler: Longtan 

The temple and city of the celestial dragons. This place is one of the most sacred sites in the Five Kingdoms. It is where the dragons rest and live most of their lives, flying in the skies and slumbering underground. It features a massive underground network carved out by the dragons. The city on top of the temple is masterfully built and is designed with art in mind. It is beautiful to behold but has few defensive benefits, though they are not needed for the dragons can defend it all on their own.

Spoiler: Nan 

Nan is the youngest of the kingdoms of the Five Kingdoms. This city was constructed only a century before the rise of the Demon Emperor. It was built to appease the divided household of the then Emperor who had a bold prince who vied for the throne. He was given Nan as recompense and built an entire kingdoms out of the fledgling city. Afterwards Nan became known as the secondary capital. It's academies were highly sought after and often members of the other kingdoms would send their children there to be educated.

Spoiler: Xi 

Xi is the sister city of Hexin. It was constructed originally to protect the North of the river Longryu. This city was used as a bastion against invaders from the North and West. Many passes through the mountains lead to roads leading to Xi. It is in Xi where a great deal of the soldiers of the Five Kingdoms are trained. It is seen as the "Warlord's City" and during times of unrest has been used to control the other kingdoms.

Spoiler: Yinying 

Yinying is a hidden town located in the Western reaches of the Five Kingdoms. The allegiance of its people is most often to Xi though in recent years they've been swaying more towards Hexin. This town is very out of the way but secretly hidden passes in the mountains lead to Yinying making it the fastest way to travel between the Five Kingdoms and the Western Empire.

Yu is a port town located to the South of Hexin. It is a great center of trade between the kingdoms of Hexin and Nan. Historically the town has seen a lot of warfare as Hexin and Nan both have laid claim many times to the territory. It is because of this that the town has thick walls.

Spoiler: Tidren 

In the North of the Southern Kingdoms is Tidren which is split down the middle by rivers. Tidren is well known for its military history and bland cuisine. Nobility in Tidren typically get chefs and supplies from Magnif or Giu Sotto rather than attempt to stomach their own foods. A notable standard of Tidren is the requirement of those who live within its borders to be trained in the use of the longbow. This alone has kept Tidren as a regional power for quite some time with its military benefit.

In the Northwestern-most corner of the Southern Kingdoms is the kingdom of Paisarma. Within the Southern Kingdoms it is Paisarma that deals the most in naval trade. For long the kingdom has had good relations with the governors of the Southern Dominion. It is through Paisarma that most of the black powder within the Southern Kingdom comes. Paisarma is ruled by Queen Maria. Recently Paisarma has had its borders shrink due to the invasion of the Destruin, causing refugees to be spotted in its Southern lands in great numbers. The volcano Armageddon is highly visible from Paisarma.

In the Southwestern corner of the Southern Kingdoms lies the Funzian City-States. While often referred to collectively each has its own individual ruler, government, and military, that act independent of the other city-states. A great deal of mercenaries come from the Funzian City-States and are seen spread throughout the Southern Kingdoms. The fifth Funzian City-State fell during the Destruin invasion.
