After the initial invasion, Shinnok, the fallen Elder God tried to conquer Earthrealm with the aid of his servant, Quan Chi. He is, however, defeated by the remaining Earthrealm warriors, due to Johnny Cage's Mediterranean abilities. This resulted in Shinnok being sealed within his amulet and Earthrealm remaining in relative peace for the next 10 years.Spoiler: Prologue"It was ten years ago, when the last tournament was held. It was the last stand for Earthrealm. The battle between it's forces and Outworld in the past having resulted in nine Outworld victories.
Johnny Cage was the first to be called forward, within this new tournament, by Shang Tsung to fight Reptile and Baraka. Cage defeated both opponents and was ordered to "finish" Baraka, but didn't comply. Immediately afterwards, Cage is congratulated on his victories by Raiden who, along with Liu Kang. They also warned him, however, that Earthrealm is in grave danger, but he did not take their warnings seriously.
The Shirai Ryu wraith, Scorpion, deceived by his creator Quan Chi, into believing that the Lin Kuei and Sub Zero personally, were responsible for the eradication of his clan. Rage tore through him, as he demolished Bi-Han in the Netherrealm. However, learning of his brother's death, Kuai Liang ventured off with fellow Lin Kuei named Smoke, to find his brother's killer.
Raiden then spoke to Sub-Zero's former friend, Cyrax, who vowed to make Scorpion pay. Unfortunately, this conversation led Cyrax to being ambushed later on by Baraka and Sheeva, who had been sent to kill him by Shang Tsung. Cyrax was victorious over both warriors, and confronted Shang Tsung as he was conversing with Sektor.
Tsung scolded Cyrax for having jeopardized his plans by speaking with Raiden. Sektor nevertheless explained that Cyrax will continue his mission, which was to kill Johnny Cage. Immediately afterwards, Cyrax fought and defeated Cage, but refused to kill him, leading him to rebel from his clan.
In time, Liu Kang emerged as the only Earthrealm warrior left in the tournament. Shang Tsung summoned Ermac and had him fight Liu Kang, but Kang stood victorious. Watching the fight, Kitana told Tsung she would ensure Liu Kang doesn't reach the next match. While training for the next fight in the courtyard, Liu Kang and Raiden discussed the god's visions more, especially the sentence of "He must win!" Believing that "he" referred to Kang, The Thunder God further encouraged him.
Later, Kang was ambushed by Kitana, but when he defeated her, he spared her life, even though Kitana asked him to kill her. Instead, he remarked that they truly had no encounter, and expressed a desire to meet her under more favorable circumstances. Kang later fought Scorpion, Quan Chi, and even the reigning champion, Goro.
Yet, it was in vain, as Liu Kang had managed to successfully defeat them all. With those victories, Kang was next to face off against his last opponent: Shang Tsung himself. As Raiden foresaw, Kang bested the sorcerer, who conceded defeat, handing victory to Earthrealm.
After that humiliating defeat, Shang Tsung was brought before the emperor. Shao Kahn ordered Kitana to execute him in his anger. However, to save his skin, the sorcerer quickly made a new proposition to Shao Kahn.
Liu Kang is presented in a ceremony as the new champion of the Mortal Kombat tournament, with Kung Lao, Johnny Cage, Sonya Blade, and Jax in attendance. Meanwhile, Raiden had takem notice of a revitalized Shang Tsung at the Wu Shi Academy, where the sorcerer proposed an offer from the emperor: A single tournament, replacing the original system of ten. Along with this, he told Raiden that if Earthrealm were to win this tournament, Kahn would be forced forever abandon his claim to Earthrealm. On the other hand, should Outworld win, Kahn would merge Earthrealm with Outworld.
Initially, Raiden dismissed the offer, which resulted in the Wu Shi Academy being overrun by Tarkatan warriors. In the chaos, Sonya and the Shaolin Masters were kidnapped and brought to Outworld. Raiden received another image, showing Liu Kang winning the new tournament.
He decided to accept the challenge, but concluded that he must change the outcome of this tournament, as Kang's victory over Tsung had no effect. In Outworld, Raiden sent Liu Kang and Kung Lao to tend to their masters whilst he, Jax, and Johnny Cage begun the tournament. Jax stepped forward to find Sonya, only for Shang Tsung to declare this as Jax volunteering for first kombat. The first round of the new tournament saw Jax defeating Baraka, but the tournament was briefly postponed after Reptile informed Shang Tsung of some "pressing matters".
By the time Liu Kang and Kung Lao return they found that things are going badly for the Earthrealm warriors. Smoke and Johnny Cage have been defeated. Sonya and Jax had already left Outworld. Shao Kahn demanded that Raiden send in a champion.
Liu Kang however, believing that he is not "He [who] must win", refuses to compete and goes to free Kitana whom had been betrayed by Shao Kahn to be executed. Thus, Raiden selected Kung Lao in his place. Lao managed to defeat Shang Tsung, Quan Chi, and even Kintaro.
With Shao Kahn as his final opponent, the two of them clashed. It was a grueling battle, and it seemed that Kung Lao had emerged having bested Outworld's Emperor. Shao Kahn however, was a poor loser and went for a backhanded attempt to kill Lao. Yet, this was prevented by Liu Kang, and they used their combined might to again overpower him.
While this would normally seem to be great news for Earthrealm, the Emperor was not killed by the young warriors. Instead, it seemed that he had been healed by the Netherrealm sorcerer Quan Chi. Deciding that Shang Tsung's failures were enough, Shao Kahn had the Sorcerer killed, to instead fuse the souls to the former Edenian Queen, Sindel whom Quan Chi had resurrected.
She was the former Queen of Edenia along with her daughter, Princess Kitana, whose realm was conquered by Shao Kahn. Her resurrection however, was due to her placing a barrier on Earthrealm so as to prevent Shao Kahn before she had taken her own life. Under compulsion of Quan Chi's magic, she sword loyalty to the emperor.
With spiteful vengeance on his mind, Shao Kahn used her to once again invade Earthrealm. Many of the Earthrealm warriors were lost in that battle to her hand. This included her own daughter, Kitana who had sided with the Earthrealmers as she had discovered the truth. It required the sacrificial power of Nightwolf, so as to be able to defeat her at his own expense.
In the end, when Raiden finally realized that Shao Kahn must attempt to merge the realms, forcing the Elder Gods to react, was when Liu Kang decided he'd finally had enough. They had lost too many, and Raiden's visions were leading to nothing more than tragedy. So, instead of placing his faith in Raiden any longer, he decided to stop Shao Kahn himself.
This, however, led to a battle between Raiden and Liu Kang. Kung Lao did what he could to try stopping them yet, in the end, by Raiden's lightning coupling with Liu Kang's fire, severely burning Liu. Lao and Raiden ran to his side, only for Kang to retort to Raiden with the last words "You've killed us all..."
Now with Shao Kahn having broken the barrier to keep him out of Earthrealm, Johnny Cage and Sonya Blade attempted to rush him, only to be cast aside like mere children. Kung Lao didn't initially leave from his grieving, and thus, Raiden submitted to the Outworld Emperor.
Shao Kahn beat the Thunder God to a bloody pulp. Kung Lao had eventually tried to step in, but it was void. It seemed that Shao Kahn had won, until the Elder Gods empowered Kung Lao.
Using his combined grieving rage and desire to end Shao Kahn, the power of the Elder Gods overwhelmed Shao Kahn. From there, they took him away for punishment....
All the while, in the shadows, a new threat would emerge from the Netherrealm...."
Mileena took over in Outworld after her father's defeat, and she looked to gain revenge on Earthrealm. However, with Outworld weakened as well, she was advised by Quan Chi to look back within Shang Tsung's chambers to see if she could find anything of use.
Through some searching, she discovered his flesh pits, finding the other several thousand copies of herself that Shang had created. With them, she intended on using it to attack Earthrealm. However, Quan Chi had her keep it a secret to instead use Outworld's new warriors as a distraction for Raiden.
Having overseen that something is awry in Outworld, Raiden asked Kung Lao to investigate, finding that Mileena had rose to power. Seeing this, Raiden determined that Mileena would've been looking for vengeance for Shao Kahn. With the threat of Outworld's new warriors, Earthrealm prepared its defenses. Quan Chi seemed to have remained hidden in all of this, leaving Earthrealm to sulk in the uncertainty. So, in desperation, Raiden must seek out new warriors to defend Earthrealm.

Name: Kai Liang
Age: 17
Gender: Male
Race: Human
Realm of Origin|Realm Alignment: Netherrealm|EarthrealmSpoiler: AppearancePersonality: TBDSpoiler: Combat Garb
Abilities/Skills:
Majikkujutsu - Kai can utilize mystical combat in multiple forms of martial arts. Many of those who train in martial arts gain superhuman capabilities by learning to harness multiple forms of magic or other supernatural abilities.
Some techniques are often either a form of excellence or perfection of an existing martial art and sometimes users of the original tend to change or innovate the martial art to make it their own.
Cryokinesis - He can create, shape and manipulate ice, water frozen into a solid state and appears naturally in forms of snow, hail, icicles, ice spikes and candles, glaciers, pack ice, frost, polar ice caps, and cold by reducing the kinetic energy of atoms and thus making things colder, for various effects and combinations.
Heat Immunity - Being that his mother was a higher demon of the Netherrealm, Kai is immune to intense levels of heat and fire.
Origin: Kai, is known to be the bastard son of Bi-Han, the Original Sub Zero, and Sareena, one of Quan Chi's former servants. For the majority of the time in which she spent in the Netherrealm, she had kept her pregnancy hidden as surely Quan Chi would've disposed of the child or tried corrupting him. Though, as time was moving forward, it was getting more and more apparent.
Thus, despite the differences they had as Sareena had attacked him when in demon form, she desperately sent a message to Kuai Liang. It was a little while after the boy was born, that Sub Zero had arrived. By that time, the boy had already been born.
Word of this spread across the Netherrealm as well to Quan Chi. He had known of the special relationship that Bi-Han and Sareena had carried in the past. The Netherrealm ruler found it only fitting, as his father was under his control, that he'd have the child to corrupt and harness the potential.
This led to Quan Chi's sending a squadron to dispose of Sareena for her lack of obedience and to bring him back the child. They had fought hard, however, the forces of the sorcerer within his own realm were beginning to overrun them. With them seeming to be losing the battle, Sareena told Sub Zero to take the child and go. With that, she fought to her last breath to ensure Kuai's escape before she was killed at the hands of Liu Kang.
For the next 17 years, as Sub Zero reformed the Lin Kuei, he had raised the boy as his own. He trained the boy in his ways, and taught him how to better use his power of Cryomancy. However, he hadn't told the boy of the specifics of his past to keep him from a life of striving for vengeance. The Grandmaster, instead, told him that his parents died at a very early stage in his life.
Kai was now assigned to aid Raiden in this cold war with Outworld in any way he could, to be part of the Special Forces' "Elite". However, he was to always uphold codes of the Lin Kuei, and not be swayed by the others of Earthrealm's forces.
Spoiler: Juno - Lady CelesteName: Juno
Age: Unknown (Late 20's Biologically)
Gender: Female
Race: Outworlder
Realm of Origin|Realm Alignment: Outworld | Earthrealm
Appearance:
Spoiler: Face Detail
Spoiler: ClothingSpoiler: Amulet
Spoiler: Civvies
Spoiler: Fighter
Personality: Juno possesses a natural charisma, and this coupled with her sweet and almost motherly personality helps to make her allies feel more at ease and often cause enemies to underestimate her. However, her generally pacifistic nature belies a sharp mind and a strong will, making her more reliable in a pinch than one might expect at first glance.
Abilities/Skills: Juno's most notable supernatural trait is her immunity to conventional poisons and diseases, to the point where she can even heal the afflicted by mingling their blood with hers. In addition, though not a sorcerer per se, Juno is well-versed in the natural and magical properties of various plants, minerals, and other items found in nature in each of the realms, and is often able to use this knowledge to her advantage in any given situation.
In terms of more mundane abilities, Juno is very knowledgeable of the cultures and histories of many of the realms, and this coupled with her natural charisma makes her an ideal diplomat.
Origin: Originally from a realm that was merged with Outworld thousands of years ago, Juno's people gradually lost all memory of their native realm and their original culture, the latter of which was actively suppressed and erased by Shao Kahn in an effort to permanently wipe out their independence. As a result, the cultural identity of Juno's people has since been forgotten to such a degree that hardly anyone can remember the original name of their realm or their race. Growing up, Juno always dreamed of reclaiming her people's lost identity, and this desire fueled a lifelong pursuit of knowledge about other realms and the cultures and histories of their peoples, all in hopes of someday rediscovering her own lost culture.
In her pursuit of knowledge, and as life in Outworld became increasingly unbearable, Juno longed to one day leave Outworld and travel to other realms, but always feared that she might be rejected and sent back due to Outworld's reputation as a realm full of bloodthirsty tyrants. However, that quickly changed after Shao Kahn died and Outworld's government collapsed almost to the point of anarchy. The ensuing political unrest soon took its toll on the realm and forced increasing numbers of refugees to flee Outworld; Juno thought they would surely be doomed with no other realm to flee to, but to her surprise, soldiers from Earthrealm helped the refugees escape to Earthrealm, despite the historically hostile relations between the two realms. Juno quickly seized her chance and fled to Earthrealm with the other refugees, but was so moved by the Earthrealmers' compassion that she felt compelled to repay them any way she could, and now volunteers as a healer at the Refugee Kamp.Spoiler: Psych - Pyro-SenseiName: Nina “Psych”
Age: Appears to be in early to mid 20s, actual age unknown
Gender: Female
Race: Chaosrealmer
Realm of Origin|Realm Alignment: Chaosrealm|Edenia
Appearance:Spoiler: Full Body
Spoiler: Close Up
Nina stands at roughly five feet, seven inches. She is lean and angular with long limbs but muscle definition. She has waist length dark brown hair that she wears in a single, messy braid and lightly tanned skin. Her face is obscured by a red mask and dark goggles. She wears a dark red tank top with black knee length pants, black knee high boots, and a white sash around her waist. Her hands and forearms are bound with faded wrappings.
Personality: FOIG
Abilities/Skills:
Chaos Powers – Nina is highly resistant to pain and injury, and is extremely flexible. She has a slight healing factor, making her wounds heal more quickly than a human.
Unique Powers – Nina has a mild psychic ability, hence her nickname, that enables her to cause mistakes in others (tripping, losing balance, missing target, etc.) and completely blacks out when enraged, becoming a vicious berserker.
Skills – Nina was trained in defensive martial arts her entire life, her adoptive mother teaching her to deflect and redirect attacks rather than strike. She became an expert with the use of a sash, augmenting her defense. Training every day has made her reasonably strong. When enraged, however, she lashes out in an almost animalistic manner, intent on the kill.
Origin: Nina was born in Chaosrealm but abandoned shortly after birth. An Edenian anthropologist named Kalliope happened to be near enough to hear the infant’s cries and decided to adopt her. Nina was then raised in Edenia, and taught ethics, art, music, and, most importantly, self-defense and survival. Kalliope thought it best to quell the chaos within her, encouraging her to live a peaceful life.
Unfortunately, the chaos could not be contained forever. A group of five Outworld deserters, former soldiers from the occupation who remained in Edenia as civilians, harassed a teenage Nina in a marketplace, deciding to secretly follow her home when she ignored their comments. They then held her and Kalliope hostage, terrifying them with threats of torture and death. The threats eventually turned to violence, Kalliope’s defiant attitude resulting in her being beaten into silence. Frightened and angry, Nina broke free of her captors and blacked out.
When she came to, Nina realized she had killed two of the men and escaped into the woodland at the base of the nearest mountain. The remaining three hunted her, furious that she had managed to evade them a second time. Using her well known environment to her advantage, Nina held out for three days in the highest branches, watching as one by one, the men fell to Edenian wildlife, be it predators or poisonous plants. The last one sought to leave the forest, giving up on capturing her, but had become hopelessly lost. Nina then left her hiding place and used her repressed psychic power to force him to trip over a root and land on a partially hidden rock, killing him instantly.
Since then, Nina has been training in the mountains, vowing to kill any Outworld warrior, former or current, who crossed her path. She has just left Edenia and is almost actively searching for a fight.
