The Black Star Privateers: Blood and Blasters
By the rings of Saturn and the tits of Venus, money is our game and defying death is in the contract.
Story: You're looking at the old cracked screen of a wrist-mounted PDA that you stumbled across in whatever town you found yourself in. You push an irresistibly red button and the screen lights up, you see a dangerous looking woman.
Her voice while pleasant sounds bored, she's leaning her head on one hand and playing with some light with the other. Looking off screen she yawns.
"Do I really have to do this Rooster? Don't you have people on the ship to do this recruiting nonesense?"
From off screen a young man laughs.
"Yes, but if you want to get paid Captain says you recruit for us."
The woman lets out a deep sigh and forms a ball of light in her hand playing with it absently.
"Fine." Looking up from her ball of light the woman stares at you through the screen.
"I am Raven, and you just picked up a data-pad for the Black Star Privateers. A group of smugglers and guns-for-hire looking for a few guli... I mean good spacefarers hoping to earn decent coin with only minimal danger to their personal selves. They're looking for..." The sound of a door closing stops her speech and as if tired of this game she leaned forward and changed her tone.
"Look, I don't really care if anyone joins this bunch of psychos, but I don't need any of you fools trying to hunt me down for leading you to your slaughter. So I'm going to give it to you straight. The Black Star Privateers are a group of Space Pirates with enough money and guts to make enemies with the biggest hitters in the universe and come out on top eight times out of ten."
She leaned back in the chair and glancing up at the door off screen before continuing.
"But those two times they don't, well lots of them usually die so they need to keep recruiting like this. The hours are long, the crew is equal parts insane and cantankerous, and while it's nice, the Black Star is still a giant tin can with only enough room to keep the biggest crew members from stepping on the smallest ones. You'll have to be looking over your shoulder in every starport you land in, and just hope you don't do something stupid and make the Captain kill you herself. It doesn't matter to me if you follow the coordinates saved to this pad and plug it into the transport pad then sign your life away being a pirate. I'm just doing this to get Rooster off my back, but if you want a good job with good pay and can carry your own weight join the Black Star Privateers." The door opens and Raven returns to her bored pose.
The man shouts from off-screen again.
"All done?" Raven nods standing up and walking off screen. A few seconds later a cheeky young man pops onto the screen waving at you.
"See you in the Hanger!" He reaches up and ends the video.
Info: It's back folks, Black Star Privateers has returned with a little different pain job. Taking place a few years after the end of BSP: Smugglers and Heroes this will be as much a reboot as a sequel. Like before we will be the members of the Black Star, a Stellar Racer class ship outfitted with enough speed, armor, and guns to get ourselves into enough trouble and make us infamous in the process. We are made up of aliens, cyborgs, robots, and humans all mashed together with a combination of needs to survive, similar skills, and no place better to go.
This time round though Dar-Jeela has taken over for her father Dar-Togga and has taken the Black Star Privateers more into the Mercenary bracket, while still doing smuggling jobs on the side, she wants to make a name for herself and knows no one will be able to top the original crew's achievement of not only finding and destroying the Atmos, but killing the legendary outlaw the Space Specter. Whilst Togga retired after that some of the old crew stayed on to serve alongside Jeela and the new batch of young bloods her change in direction attracted. People who just missed the mark of joining or those who allowed Dar-Togga's ruthless reputation scare them off.
We are still all Rouges, former Military, former Law Enforcement, anyone and everyone that has been stamped under the foot of society one way or another. But as of now we haven't gotten any huge contracts to really blaze our names across the skies so we take any job that come our way, from personal body guards to a high ranking Statesmen to working as escorts for black market dealers moving product (if we can't get the deal ourselves that is). Still stashed away on the scoundrel colony of Carin, we spend our money and wait for the next mission. The right people know where to find us, and we aren't big on publicity. The only interactions we initiate is our wide-spread recruitment. He have transport pads somewhere in many major cities of the universe and every one leads right to Carin.
So far the story is simply this, we are the intrepid, but dysfunctional crew of the Black Star. Mercs, occasional smugglers, and even governmental babysitters when we find ourselves in the situation. We cruise through wormholes, dodge around meteors, evade the planet cracker guns of various Galactic super powers all in the name of money and usually by the skin of our teeth.

Here's an explanation of jobs and ranks, many of these are rather obvious, but some I will explain further.

Gunner: From using the ships Rail Cannons to the heavy weapons of dismount, you are the big hitters and Front-Line Guards of the Black Star.
Mechanic: You fix the Cyborgs, Bots, ship, and gear. You are the master of all things hardware.
Engineer: Like the Mechanic, you are the master of fixing things. But instead of hardware you work with software. Systems for the ship, Bots and Cys are under your sphere of influence. You are also the Crew's resident hacker.
Scout: You are the ship's primary dismounts and intel gatherers. The Gunner is the Guard, and you are the Sniper. Light in weaponry and armor you supplement the Expedition Crew and scope out the terrain before the crew lands.

- All RPA and Mature Rules apply.
- I made this a mature RP for the reason of creative freedom, anything goes for the most part as long as none of the rules are broken
- I am the GM and as such I have the last say in issues.
- Any issues between players deal with in PMs.
- If the problem persists send me both sides and I'll see if I can help.
- If I help and it continues ask a mod or get out.
- Be active and post at least a paragraph a post.
- Ignorance of the rules won't save you if you break them.
- Be smart, have fun, and no modding or powerplaying.
- Any new RP ideas are welcome just run them by me and we'll see about working them out.
- Inactivity will be punished by the death of your char.
- The GM is the only judge of inactivity, when the RP is going well it's a week unless you send me word of your inactivity then I'll pull you along, but after two weeks your character will be on the chopping block unless you have a good reason for not being around. And after three weeks they die no matter what.
- Reserves will only be held for a week before you lose it.
- Keep all powers, mutations, abilities, augs, and skills sensible and not OP.
- Same goes for Weapons and Armor.
- Augs are singular in purpose and just enhance a natural ability. Over use of the aug though will result in it's failure.
- Limit of two chars a player.
- If you've read down this far, add a good in-character at least 2 paragraph scene in the Other section of the sheet.
