Talvon woke up in the small cell that served as the brig for a docked frigate at Atlas's military base.
The illisium, as she was dubbed, was the ship he was assigned to as a specialist. But after his last infraction last night he doubted if he would have that title soon. He knew many of Atlas's financial elites, his Uncle included wanted him drummed out and forgotten. He was half certain if it wasn't for his mother and aunt he would have been disowned already.
Talvon could hear the voices of two soldiers as they approached and wondered what the odds were that this was going to be his last day as a soldier.
"I can't believe their pulling him out early, It's not like we really need him but... You don't suppose they know something we don't?"
"I'm not payed to question their orders Lav, I'm just pulling this sad excuse for specialist out of the brig and sending him to the bridge like I was told"
"Yeah, OK Sarge" the first voice said resigned as they came into view. The door to his cell already opening
It seemed the first soldier was holding a case that Talvon recognized as the storage unit for his sword
"Guess I'm being pardoned." He said wryly while pulling himself to his feet.
"Shut it Schnee, you're going to the bridge." Sarge barked as Talvon rested the weapons case over his shoulder. "lead the way."
Talvon was waiting on the bridge for about ten minutes before General James Ironwood strode in alone.
the fact they were meeting alone set Talvons suspicions on edge. But he saluted the general anyway not wanting to dig himself too deep without more info.
"Relax Schnee, this is going to be off the record" Ironwood said in a professional manner he reserved for mission briefings and announcements.
"Umm OK, so whats going on. You didn't pull me out of the brig for a pep talk did you?" Talvon asked suspiciously.
"No, a Maidens gone missing." James said sliding a scroll toward the young man
"WHAT!?" Talvon shouted forgetting his composure. "What do you mean "gone missing" General"
