    Default One week earlier... (CO-OP)

A car was driving down the road leading out of the city, to an academy that laid beyond the borders of the city. The day was slowly turning to twilight as they continued on their journey. Kaiba had been consulting with the people that run the academy, and they perked his interest on an investment opportunity. They had told him they were working on an advancement on virtual reality gaming and that alone caught his interest. If everything went well, he would be able to not only get his hands on a new form of virtual reality technology, but he just might be able to talk to them about working with him to advance this technology further still. A partnership with them would be beneficial if what they were offering was good.

Though the car ride was taking longer than Kaiba had anticipated, he kept his cool, going through any and all possible ways of getting what he wanted if the tech was good enough. He looked straight ahead as the person driving the car was not Roland. The woman at the academy sent her personal limo to pick him up, and it came with a driver: a man named Aaron. Granted, Kaiba usually didn’t agree to terms like this, but the situation called for it. He then looked over to where his brother was sitting. “So what is your opinion on this Mokuba?” Kaiba said in his normal tone as he waited for the younger Kaiba’s reply.

Mokuba had stayed as close to his brother’s side as possible throughout the entire trip, closely watching the man in the driver’s seat. KaibaCorp never even considered doing business with anyone without a thorough background check first; now was no exception, and by all accounts everything seemed to come back clean. Still, this ‘Rosewood School for Gifted Youth’ was the subject of many an urban legend in Domino, and Mokuba found it strange for them to insist on sending their own driver to bring Seto to the school even though he was perfectly capable of arranging his own transportation. Mokuba had resolved to give them the benefit of the doubt for now, mainly because he knew how much Seto had wanted a chance to properly finish the design of his virtual reality system, which had been left on the back burner ever since the Backstabbing 5 had ruined everything last time. But as Seto asked his opinion, Mokuba figured that now was as good a time as any to speak up while he still had the chance.

“I dunno…” Mokuba said, pausing to glance at the driver again. Making sure that the driver wasn't looking, Mokuba lowered his voice so that only his brother could hear. “I’m looking forward to seeing what they're offering, but is it really a good idea for us to be alone with a total stranger?” After a moment of hesitation, Mokuba continued. “Maybe I’m just nervous after what happened last time.”

Kaiba looked into his younger brother's eyes as he voiced his opinion on the matter at hand. He always knew Mokuba was more of the cautious type, and his own recklessness had gotten him in trouble when his five employees tried to trap him in a virtual world to take over his company. Understanding his worry Kaiba was not going to let anything like that happen again. “Mokuba. I can understand your concern, but the only way I am going to get this project back up and running just might be what these people are offering.” Kaiba said in a low tone just to keep the driver from hearing his conversation with Mokuba.

“Trust me when I say I learned a lesson from that experience. So don’t worry too much.” Seto said as he looked up to make sure the driver was not doing anything he didn’t like. He didn’t trust him as much as Mokuba might have been thinking.

“Alright.” Mokuba replied with a smile. He of all people should’ve known better than to underestimate his brother. Seto wouldn’t have agreed to something this unusual without being prepared, and his confidence gave Mokuba some much needed reassurance and helped to ease his nerves.

Some time later, a sleeping Mokuba gradually began to stir. The younger Kaiba tried desperately to wake up, caught in the grips of a nightmare, and finally awoke with a start to find himself alone in the backseat of the car. Still not fully awake, Mokuba did not move at first, still trying to piece together where he was and what had happened. He remembered being driven to this school with his brother, who was there to look into a possible breakthrough at the school that might be of use to KaibaCorp… but everything after that was a blur. What frightened Mokuba even more, however, was that Seto was no longer in the car with him; the only other person here now was the driver who’d brought them here. Several questions rushed through Mokuba’s mind all at once, but one quickly took priority over all the others.

“Where’s Seto?” Mokuba drowsily asked Aaron as he started to get up, even though he knew how ridiculous the question must have sounded. Seto must still be at his meeting with the higher-ups at the school, right? And Seto was more than capable of taking care of himself even if something did go wrong. But then why couldn’t Mokuba shake off this worry that he felt? The terror of his nightmare still lingered, even though he couldn't remember any of the details, except for one sentence in his own voice that he could still vaguely recall:

No matter what they do to me, I'll do whatever it takes to save you.

Despite how tired he still felt, Mokuba set it aside and reached for the door. He could already imagine how embarrassed he’d feel when - not if - he would find Seto safe and sound and Seto would reassure him that there was never anything to worry about. Mokuba had never liked being embarrassed over anything, but he would welcome the feeling now, because at least then it would mean that Seto was okay.

Just as he was about to open the door, however, the door suddenly opened, and Mokuba looked up to see his brother there.

“Seto!” Mokuba smiled with relief as he hurriedly straightened himself up and scooted aside to let his brother in. But even though everything seemed to be alright now, Mokuba could still feel a distinct tension in the atmosphere. Something was still wrong, though he didn't know what.

“What happened? How did it go?” Mokuba asked his brother, hoping that talking with his brother about how things went might help to ease his troubled nerves and finally put these irrational fears to rest.

Aaron was sitting in the front seat on fth limo as Mokuba started to wake up. He smiled at the young man. “Did you sleep well young man?” Aaron said as the first words were where is his older brother. “Well Your brother is in the school in the meeting. You fell asleep on the way here, so your brother asked me to watch over you while he attended his meeting.” Aaron sad as Mokuba looked as if he was in a panic. He had a concerned look on his face as the young man reached for the door. However, he perked up once Seto arrived. He seemed to be in a better mood, and as soon as Kaiba entered the limo Aaron started the engine and began to return to the city.

When Kaiba opened the door he looked down at Mokuba as he seemed happy to see him. The younger Kaibe scooted over and let him into the car. Once he sat down, and the limo was on it’s way Mokuba asked how the meeting went. Kaiba looked over at his brother with a sour look on his face. “Well they don’t seem to know what they are doing. We are leaps and bound ahead on VR technology. This was a complete waste of time.” Kaiba said with little to no emotion behind his words. “Let’s just get home, and pretend this night never happened.”

“Okay…” Mokuba said, not saying much else after that. That KaibaCorp’s technology was far superior to whatever this school could offer was no big surprise, but Seto hated wild goose chases, and the look on his face coupled with the words he used made it clear to Mokuba that the meeting had not gone well at all, so Mokuba quickly decided to drop the issue for now.

Still, Mokuba couldn't help but glance one last time at the Rosewood campus as it shrank in the distance and then disappeared from sight. The campus looked dark and sinister in the dead of night, like the villain’s castle in a fairy tale, and something about the place felt completely wrong to him... But maybe Mokuba was just imagining things, or maybe he was seeing the school in a more negative light after seeing his brother upset.

Either way, Mokuba would be glad to return home. Seto would never let one disappointment keep him down for long, so Mokuba didn't doubt that Seto would quickly forget whatever had upset him so much, and would be back to his usual self by the time they got back.

One week has passed since the business deal with Sophia had gone sour. Since that time Kaiba has been concentration in his work more than anything. That waste of time made him realize that he needed to step up his recherche department, and make sure that were doing their job. He wanted to get this little project completed before anyone else gets the idea, and finishes before him. So Kaiba has been putting more and more hours in at work, and spending less time with Mokuba.

    -----

Kaiba was sitting at his deck looking over some papers. The blank look on his face as he looked at the papers. He didn’t know why but the numbers weren't adding up. Placing that paper down he shook his head as he picked up the next report. Reading the contents that were presented in the report. Then suddenly he heard the door open. Looking up from the paper he saw Clay walk into the room. Not reacting what so ever he looked back down at the report as the man approached.

“I finished the errand you sent me on Mr. Kaiba.” Clay said in a professional manner as he waited for him to respond.

“Well it is about time. Now stand over there while I finish my reading.” Kaiba said as he didn’t want to deal with Clay right as the moment. He returned his attention to the report.

Mokuba walked through the hallways at KaibaCorp HQ, passing by each department to make sure everything was running smoothly. Over the past week, this had grown into something of a habit for the younger Kaiba; with Seto spending more and more time busy in his office, Mokuba tried to keep busy as well by keeping an eye on the company's day-to-day operations, if only to take his mind off of his own growing frustrations for a while. This was hardly the first time that a proposed business deal with KaibaCorp had gone sour, but Seto would never let something like that affect him this much, let alone for one week straight.

To make matters worse, as Seto spent less and less time with Mokuba over this past week, many KaibaCorp employees began to take notice of the sudden change. Seto was very busy, that much everyone could understand and accept, but the elder Kaiba would always make the effort to spend as much time with his brother as possible no matter how busy he was, sometimes even using his work as an excuse by asking for Mokuba's advice on a new project or other work-related matters. But now, in addition to becoming so apparently consumed by his work, Seto was isolating himself to such a degree that rumors were beginning to spread about him and about his fateful business meeting at the Rosewood School for Gifted Youth. Rosewood was already the stuff of urban legends as it was, so the fact that said business meeting had taken place at the school added even more fuel to the gossip spreading around KaibaCorp.

As the days passed and Seto became more and more withdrawn, Mokuba couldn't stop thinking about Rosewood, trying to think of what had gone so horribly wrong at that meeting that could affect his normally levelheaded older brother so strongly. Every attempt he'd made to try to get Seto to talk about it had gone nowhere, and now it was becoming something of an obsession for Mokuba. Though he wasn't sure why, part of him could feel that the answers he was looking for were at Rosewood, but how to find them was another story entirely.

Passing by his brother's office, Mokuba stopped to peek in the door and saw Seto busy with a report, while his new bodyguard Clay LaVell stood close by. Mokuba was about to walk past them, knowing better than to interrupt his brother's work. But then Mokuba overheard something about an errand that Seto had just sent Clay on, and that immediately caught the younger Kaiba's attention.

"What errand?" Mokuba asked, entering through the door a short ways behind Clay. Seto had never mentioned anything about any specific errand that needed to be run, and it wasn't like Seto to keep secrets from him like that, so now Mokuba was more than a little confused about what was going on.

Kaiba looked up from his papers upon hearing Mokuba’s voice. The young man had overheard him talking to Clay about an errand that he had him run. Giving a light sigh as he put done the report he was reading he looked Mokuba in the eyes as he entered the office. “Mokuba I understand that you want to know everything, but sometimes there are things that even I need to keep to myself. Do you understand?” Kaiba said in an non-emotional voice as he looked at the younger Kaiba. He didn’t want to go any further into explaining himself to his brother.

Clay stood at the door, as he heard Mokuba speak, and stick his nose into his brother's business. Though that was of little concern to him. He was and only to do what Mr. Kaiba asks of him. Nothing more and nothing less. He was only getting paid to do that not have a opinion of his own. He just stood there keeping to himself unless told to do something else.

"Yeah..." Mokuba replied. Disappointed as he was, he wouldn't argue with his brother over something so minor. With that, Mokuba exited the office and left Seto to his work once again.

A few of the employees in the hallways retreated into their offices and breakrooms as Mokuba passed them by. Mokuba didn't know how much they had overheard of that last short talk between him and his brother, but he could tell they were already whispering among themselves about it behind his back, and that only frustrated him more. What secret was so horrible that Seto couldn't even tell him about a simple errand anyway? Mokuba didn't want to start an argument over something so minor, but it wasn't like Seto to keep him in the dark like this without any explanation at all.

And now, honestly, it felt just now like that wasn't even his brother talking to him. Mokuba hated thinking like that; of course it was his brother! Who else could it be? But then why couldn't Mokuba stop these thoughts that kept racing through his mind?

Nothing about this made sense any more, and the more Mokuba thought about it, the more he knew that he needed to get help. He wasn't even sure what he needed help with; all he knew was that, whatever was going on, he couldn't handle it alone.

After one last inspection of the company's operations, Mokuba knew that he wouldn't be needed for another few hours, which was more than enough time for him to get some fresh air and think of who he could turn to. Seto wouldn't give him much of an explanation for whatever was going on, and practically everyone else at KaibaCorp was just as much in the dark as he was, if not more so. Yugi was one option; Seto's supposed 'rival' had always been ready and willing to help them out of a pinch, and was especially helpful in situations with no logical explanation. Like now...

Mokuba hesitated for a moment, knowing that his brother probably wouldn't approve of him turning to Yugi for help again. Seto might have claimed that it was because he just didn't like Yugi, but Mokuba knew that the real reason was because being forced to rely on a 'rival' for help made Seto feel weak and vulnerable: a feeling Seto had always hated. Mokuba would never even think of doing that to Seto unless the situation absolutely called for it, but somehow he knew that it did call for it. Yugi was the only person Mokuba could think of who might understand what was wrong with Seto, so with one last look back toward Seto's office, Mokuba entered the elevator and stopped at the ground floor.

Roland agreed to accompany Mokuba outside while Fuguta stayed behind to keep an eye on the company's day-to-day operations. Neither man needed any further explanation from Mokuba, both having been well-acquainted with the Kaiba brothers for years, nor had they failed to notice the elder Kaiba's increasingly suspicious behavior and Mokuba's growing frustrations over the past week. Mokuba was not unaccustomed to going out alone, especially since his stint as the Battle City commissioner, but ever since last week he didn't feel safe going out anywhere alone, and whenever he did go out, it always felt like he was being watched. So naturally the younger Kaiba soon took to having Roland - one of the Kaiba brothers' most loyal and trusted employees - accompany him whenever he went out, somehow not quite able to fully trust any other employee.

With that settled, Mokuba walked out a back door with Roland dutifully following close behind, en route to Solomon Muto's game shop.

Default The Game Shop Skirmish (CO-OP)

Today was a relatively slow day at Solomon Muto’s game shop, or at least slower than what one might expect of the store where the world-famous Yugi Muto lived and worked. Ever since Yugi’s victory in the Battle City tournament, it was not uncommon for fans and aspiring Duelists to visit the store in hopes of meeting Yugi and possibly getting a helpful tip or two from him. The Duel Monsters champion was notoriously shy and humble, and Solomon pointedly refused to exploit his grandson’s fame for personal gain, but there was no denying that business at the game shop had been at an all-time high since Battle City.

So naturally, the game shop was one of Lydia Walker’s first stops that afternoon after her classes were done for the day. No one would notice she was gone for another few hours or so, but these trips outside always carried some degree of risk, and it wasn’t clear when she might have another chance to see the city again, let alone possibly meet the legendary King of Games. She didn’t usually manage to make it this close to the game shop without getting caught, but today, by some miracle, she did. Now that she was so close, the opportunity was too good for her to pass up… if she could only work up the nerve to actually enter the shop.

“Deep breaths, Lydia… don’t get nervous; you’ll just look desperate…”

The Baby Dragon spirit next to her, however, did not hesitate nearly as much. Passing effortlessly through the door, Baby flew straight into the shop while Lydia was still standing there.

“Baby…!” Lydia rushed in after the little rascal, forgetting her hesitation for a split second… and also briefly forgetting how weird it must look for her to suddenly rush into the store like this, until she was already inside. Baby was already flying all around the shop, excitedly looking around at the different displays and especially at some of the Duel Monsters cards that were for sale, the latter of which he eagerly pointed out to Lydia, who straightened up and tried to play it cool by approaching the displays like any other visitor to the store might.

“It’s not that easy, Baby; you have to buy those cards with money, or trade some of your own cards for them.” Lydia whispered, still trying to look normal. “Now stay close to me, and whatever you do, don’t touch anything.”

Yugi had been up in his room most of the day trying to keep himself from being seen by the people that come to the card shop to see him. Though he knew that he would be unable to hide all day. He just would like a break from his adoring fans. He didn’t ask for this. He only played that game because he wanted to, and he was invited. Who knew winning it would cause such a mess.

(color=red)”Yugi you should be honored that all of these people want to see you.”[/color] Yami said as he appeared next to Yugi with a smile on his face.

Yugi chuckled as he looked over at his partener with a smile “But I am not the one that one that game you are. If it weren't for you I wouldn’t be doing this well.”

“You shouldn’t have this little faith in your skill. I only help guide you in the right direction. You one that match. So you shouldn’t thing you are inferior to other duelists.”

“I know, but still.” Yugi said but stopped talking to contemplate what his partner said. “You are right. I should have more faith in myself” Yugi said as Yami was content, and disappeared from his side.

Getting ready to go down stairs he walked into the gaming shop, and saw that there are a couple of people looking around. One was a young man with long silver braided hair that was looking at some cards on the other side of the store. His grandfather was helping him. Then there was a young lady that had long brown hair. She seemed a bit nervous, and Yugi wondered why. So he decided to help his grandfather out. He reached the bottom of the stairs, and walked over to the young lady. “Is there anything I can help you with?”

Lydia could feel Yugi’s arrival before he even entered the room, though she didn’t realize who it was until she saw him at the stairs. There was a strong energy coming from him that Lydia had never sensed from any reg before; the only time Lydia had sensed anything even remotely like it was at school, whenever the headmistress or Miss Grissom was in the room. Could Yugi Muto really be a…?

She quickly set aside the issue for now. If she asked him that in public and turned out to be wrong, the headmistress would probably keep her locked in her dorm until graduation, not to mention she would’ve just embarrassed herself in front of a Duel Monsters champion for nothing!

“I don’t know; I didn’t exactly come prepared to buy anything, and all I have right now is an old Duel Monsters deck from when I was a kid.” Lydia said first, knowing better than to make a fool of herself by gushing about Yugi from the get-go like some fan girl.

Meanwhile, Baby was also instantly distracted with Yugi, or more specifically, with the gold pyramid thing hanging around his neck. Being a monster spirit, Baby could sense the presence of other spirits with relative ease, and could sense one such spirit inside that little pyramid. Closely approaching Yugi from the side, Baby craned his neck and tentatively sniffed at the little pyramid, lightly pawing at it.

Yugi was relieved that this girl didn’t react to him just talking to her. She acted just like a normal person around him. He just smiled at her and listened to her comment. He smiled at her and looked her in the eyes. “Well no matter the deck. If built with love the deck will respond. So would you mind if I can look at your Deck?” Yugi asked as he wanted to see what her deck looked like. He was unaware of anything that was going on. He couldn’t see the spirit that was clawing at his millennium puzzle.

“Sure!” Lydia said, reaching into her side pocket for the deck. She saw Baby poking at something around Yugi’s neck, but also noticed that Yugi was completely unaware of Baby’s presence. Maybe she was wrong about him before… or maybe he just lacked experience. With him living among regs like this, Lydia wouldn’t doubt it.

Feeling a bit more at ease now, Lydia took out her Deck and set it down in front of Yugi. The cards themselves were not exactly in mint condition, but were in surprisingly good condition for their age despite their edges being slightly worn and a few cards being slightly bent. The monsters in the deck were varied, but most of the lower-level non-effect monsters tended to have relatively high attack points for a strong early offense, but this also resulted in very few monsters having fewer than 4 stars. Effect monsters were far more varied, including Sonic Shooter, Exploder Dragon, Hane-Hane, and others with various effects, and the same could also be said of the Magic and Trap Cards in the deck; in general, the card effects had been picked out to try to account for any possible situation in a Duel, which was a good idea in theory, but in practice this only left one or two cards that might actually be useful in any particular situation, which could leave a Duelist vulnerable unless they happened to have the right card available at the right time to use it.

Yugi smiled at her as she handed him her deck. He looked through the cards and could see the potential in the deck, as well as the love of the person that put this deck together. As he continued to look through the deck he saw a familiar card. One his best friend even had in his deck. Baby Dragon. He remembered the day he gave Joey a card that would help him in the first dueling tournament they both entered. A small smile crossed his face as he looked back up at the young lady. “You have a fine deck, a little all over the place, but a good deck. I am sure that the monsters in your deck are happy to be with you.” He said with a smile as he turned around, and when behind the counter.

He had decided that he wanted to give the young lady a couple of cards to help with her deck. Granted he has only done this one other time, but at least she didn't swoon over him like all of the others that have met him. He looked through drawer and pulled out three cards. That would improve her deck. And he would pay his grandfather back. Turning back around he walked from behind the counter and handed the girl. Polymerization, Time Wizard, and Thousand dragon. “These card will help you deck. Treat them like the rest of your cards, and they will serve you well.” Yugi said as he let the card go. Still smiling as he did so. Maybe this would allow her to get back into the game of Duel Monsters. Maybe one day they could actually duel on another.

A smile crept onto Lydia’s face as she looked through each of the cards. She had heard of Fusion Monsters when they first came out, but never had the chance to actually try it until now. And this particular Fusion Monster was a grown-up version of Baby Dragon; Baby would love it!

“I will, thanks!” Lydia said as she set aside the cards temporarily. “How much? I don’t have any money on me right now, but I can have it by tomorrow.”

In all honesty, though, it surprised Lydia how Yugi could talk about these cards as if he knew of the Monsters’ spirits; most regs didn’t know a thing about spirits and tended to dismiss the cards as ordinary playing cards. Either Yugi had had an encounter with these spirits in the past, or he was more gifted than she’d thought from his apparent inability to see Baby. The temptation to ask him more directly and find out was even greater now, but this was neither the best time nor place for that; the elderly shopkeeper was busy with another customer in the corner, and the ring of the shop door alerted Lydia to the arrival of yet another customer, though she couldn’t see who.

Yugi just smiled at her and shook his head. “No need to pay anything. I am giving you the cards. I am sure they will be happy in your deck. So treat them well.” He said as he heard the bell on the door ring, and he looked to the two people that walked in. “Welcome to The shop. Look around and see what you like.” Yugi said as he looked back to the young lady. “How about this. Give me your name, and never turn your back on you deck and we will be even,” Yugi aid as he reached out his hand to shake hers.

“Lydia.” Lydia replied, shaking Yugi’s hand. “And thanks.” She was about to say more when she felt a sudden pulse of energy, indicating the arrival of another monster spirit. Distracted for a moment, Lydia briefly looked past Yugi to where the spirit was beginning to appear.

The Dark Magician spirit appeared in the shop. He felt a disturbing energy that caught his attention. Though he didn’t know why something like this would bother him. Many magical energies have come and gone, but this energy felt familiar somehow. He didn’t know why but it did. He stood at the base of the stares as he looked around. And then he saw a fellow spirit next to Yugi. He tried to see who this young dragon belonged to. So he walked over to the spirit. “Whom is your Master?” He questioned the spirit.

Baby’s tail wagged as he flew up to the new spirit. The little dragon was always eager to make new friends, and the purple spirit seemed nice. When asked about his ‘master’, however, Baby tilted his head, clearly puzzled. He didn’t have any ‘master’ as far as he knew; Lydia was the closest he had to a ‘master’, but she didn’t boss him around like masters do, so that didn’t count, did it?

One of the new arrivals was an elderly woman in an old-fashioned dark pink gown, her silver hair worn up in a simple bun with several loose ends dangling about. The old woman carried herself with an unusual grace for her age, as though she was actually much younger than she looked, and she looked intently through the shop and at each person who was there. Sparing a glance at Yugi from behind Lydia, the old woman hid a smile that threatened to form, and exchanged a knowing glance with her companion as she idly procured a few cards from a pouch.

“I should probably let you get back to work.” Lydia said at last, pocketing the offered cards with the rest of her deck. “Thanks again!” She said, quickly excusing herself as the old woman began to approach Yugi. Lydia couldn’t sense any particularly strong energy off of the woman, but something about her seemed vaguely familiar. And what was it about their arrival that would apparently trigger the arrival of a spirit whom Lydia now recognized as the Dark Magician? These and so many other questions came to mind, and now Lydia felt slightly on edge.

“Hello, young man.” The woman smiled at Yugi, intently meeting his gaze.

Seeing this, Lydia moved aside and pretended to wait by the restroom, but kept a wary eye on the old woman behind her back. Something told Lydia that the woman was up to something; the woman’s efforts to maintain eye contact with Yugi might not seem too unusual at first glance, but after a while it became increasingly clear that the woman was trying more to stare into his eyes rather than make polite eye contact.

Keeping herself hidden, Lydia focused briefly on the cards in the woman’s hand, one of which suddenly flew out of the woman’s hand over the display case, landing on the floor at Yugi’s feet.

“Oh, goodness!” The woman said in surprise, breaking eye contact with Yugi as the card flew out onto the floor. “I’m terribly sorry about that; excuse me.” She said, briefly searching the room for what could have caused that little mishap; she almost caught sight of Lydia, but Lydia quickly hid in the restroom, so instead the woman moved to let herself through to retrieve the card.

Yugi just smiled as Lydia took his hand and introduced herself. “Well it was nice meeting you, and hope that you come again. I have a feeling we would make great friends.” Yugi said as his new friend let him get back to work. Now there were two new people that were in the store. One was an older woman, but she didn’t carrie herself that way, and the other was a young man with light brown hair the immediately went to one of the card display cases to look at the cards.. They approached Yugi, and the older lady began speaking with him.

Suddenly a card that was within the woman's grasp flew out of her hand and landed behind the counter at his feet. He broke eye contact with the woman and bent down to pick up the card. He found it strange that the card was the Maiden of Macabre. What an odd card for this woman to be carrying Then she tried to get behind the counter, and Yugi stopped her. “Sorry mam. You are not allowed back here.” Yugi said as he handed her the card back.

Dark Magician shook his head at the young dragon as he didn’t answer his question. The young creature probably didn’t understand his meaning of Master. “Let me ask you to whome it is you protect?” Hoping this time to get an answer from the young spirit.

The silver haired young man turned to look around the store as the gentleman that was helping him excused himself to go and help his grandson. He didn’t seem to act out of the ordinary as he walked up to the register ready to pay for the cards he had found. He just waited there patently as the little misunderstanding was taken care of.

Baby’s eyes brightened, understanding the purple spirit a bit better now. He looked down to where Lydia had just been a moment ago, but now she wasn’t there anymore; in her place was an old lady and a silver-haired man. Whimpering in confusion, Baby looked around for where Lydia could be, flying toward a doorway that led toward where the restrooms were. Lydia emerged from a hiding place behind one of the doors, and Baby squeaked happily as he flew straight toward her.

Lydia idly pet Baby’s head, not quite able to take her eyes off of the scene unfolding at the register. The old woman had tried to enter past the display, but Yugi had politely told her that she was not allowed back there.

“Oh no, of course not.” The old woman said, quickly gathering herself as she spared a sidelong glance at the man behind her. Once again she looked Yugi in the eyes, maintaining eye contact for as long as possible.

“You look tired, young man… Why not step outside for a while, and get yourself some fresh air? I’m sure your grandfather won't mind.”

Now Lydia knew that something was wrong. The woman’s eye contact, coupled with the words she used, were a clear indication of some kind of hypnotic spell. Lydia couldn’t imagine what they might want with Yugi, but she knew that it couldn’t be good.

Lydia tried to think of something she could do to distract them, but not much came to mind with so many people - including at least two regs - gathered together in one room. In a split-second decision, she looked for the nearest fire alarm and pulled it. As the alarm rang out, Lydia then ran forward and stood with everyone else to try not to look too suspicious. Hopefully nobody actually saw her pulling the alarm like that, because if they did, she would’ve just landed herself in a lot of trouble. But either way, the alarm would at least distract the old woman from her spell and give Lydia enough time to at least warn Yugi.

Yugi was glad that the woman didn’t have any problems with him telling her that she was not allowed back behind the counter. He didn’t want to have a confrontation with one of his grandfather's customers. So he looked at the woman as she made eye contact with him once more. He suddenly felt weird as he looked at the woman his head was getting fuzzy, and then she spoke about him going outside and getting some fresh air. Her proposal was accepted without a moment's hesitation, and he didn't have to ask his grandfather to leave. He understood since this was not Yugi’s job he was just helping out. As he walked from behind the counter he began to make his way to the door.

The Dark Magician watched as the young spirit suddenly looked frantic. It seemed like it lost it’s master so they were no longer there. However, suddenly the spirit squeaked in excitement as he made his way to his master. He watched as the young woman actually acknowledged her spirit, and even petted his head. Was this woman a mage? He thought as he was about to go and talk to her, but he suddenly felt magic being used, and before he could find out who was casting the spell the young woman pulled the fire alarm. Dark Magician looked around for Yugi. He had a bad feeling about this whole situation.

Yugi was snapped out of his trance by the sound of the alarm, and he looked around at everyone present. He and his grandfather worked to get the few people that were in the building out, and left as well. They both didn’t know what happened, but in the end they would have to wait for the fire department to arrive before going back in.

“Yugi. I know you sad you would help at the shop today, but it seems like that was not meant to be. Go out and have some fun with your friends.” He said with a smile on his face. He knew Yugi wouldn’t want to wait around for everything to settle down.

Yugi looked up to his grandfather with a smile. He knew him too well. So he took his offer. “Well then Grandpa I am going to go find Joey. I will see you later today. If you need anything just give me a call ok!” Yugi asid as he moved away from the chaos of the store to one of the alley ways. This was a short cut for him to get to Joey's house.

Aaron was not happy about being excorted out of the building because of the fire alarm, and knew that this was not anything more than an annoyance. However, their plan was still in effect, and he followed Yugi as soon as he began to move from the location.

Lydia filed out of the store with everyone else. She hadn't failed to notice the trance that Yugi had slipped into, and was glad to see that whatever spell had been on him was now broken, but everything else was a total disaster. Now the store had to basically close down while everyone waited for the fire department; Lydia knew there was no real fire, but if they found out she was the one who pulled it, she would be in big trouble in more ways than one. And on top of all that, that old witch was still on the loose, so Lydia’s whole stunt was only a brief diversion at best.

“Some day out this turned out to be, huh Baby?” Lydia asked rhetorically. If it weren't for that witch, Lydia would be almost tempted to just get back to school and be done with it. But now Yugi was headed through an alleyway alone, where he would be easy prey if the witch followed him, and Lydia had lost track of the witch in the crowd when everyone was leaving. But at least the Dark Magician was still here; it was no secret in Domino that the Dark Magician was Yugi’s favorite monster, so more than likely he was on Yugi’s side in this whole mess. Maybe he could help.

“That old woman is a witch.” Lydia whispered to the Dark Magician once she found him again. “I saw her putting Yugi in a trance earlier; that's why I pulled the fire alarm. I don't know where she is now, but Yugi just went that way.” She pointed toward the alleyway.

Meanwhile, slipping away from the crowd that was gathering outside, the old woman met with her companion just outside of the alleyway, watching as Yugi walked alone through the alley with hardly a care in the world. But now that was about to change…

“I have an idea. Follow me.”

Moments later, as Yugi continued along his way, Joey’s voice echoed from somewhere just up ahead.

“Hey, back off pal! Urgh… You don't know who you're messin’ with! … Let me go!”

The Dark Magician came out of the card shop, and looked around for Yugi as the chaos caused by the fire alarm was still very much in effect. He had tried to find Yugi as the people started to disband. As he looked around the girl that was the Baby Dragons Master approached him. She began to speak of the spell and who was responsible. As well as why the fire alarm went off. Then shew reviled where Yugi went. So he looked down at the girl and smiled. “You have potential. Don’t take your gift for granted. No many can commune with us, let alone even know we exist.” He said with a calm smile. From the direction Yugi was going he knew exactly where he was going. “Thank you for helping my master.” He said with a bow as he moved in front of her to her spirit. “Watch over you master young one.” He said to baby as he turned his back to them, and started to make his way to where Yugi was. He didn’t have too much time to waste. The energy he felt before was very familiar, and it stemmed from his past life.

The silver haired youth walked up to where Lydia was , and placed a hand on her shoulder. “Well Played young Lady.” Was all he said as didn’t look at her or anything. He just moved past her, and walked away towards the street that lead in the same direction Yugi did, but the long way around.

All of this was a lot for Lydia to take in. Yugi was the Dark Magician’s master? That would certainly explain a lot. So he was a warlock after all, but probably didn't know it yet, or at least hadn't had the chance to properly develop his powers yet; that was the only reason Lydia could think of for why he couldn't see his own familiar. Then on top of that revelation, a stranger stopped to apparently complement the stunt she’d just pulled, and then walked in the same direction that Yugi had just gone. The stranger obviously had seen what she did with the fire alarm, but had he known about the witch? And if so, was he friend or foe? He didn't seem hostile toward her yet, but he could've just as easily figured that she wasn't much of a threat; after all, she didn't have much experience with magic outside of a solid knowledge of certain practical spells and communicating with monster spirits.

Lydia was stunned for a moment, not quite sure what to make of all this new info, but she quickly set it aside. Whatever was going on here, she and Baby would have to be prepared.

“Baby, you remember those cards Yugi just gave me?”

Baby nodded, and Lydia promptly took out those same cards.

    “You're going to love this…!”

Concentrating on the Polymerization card specifically, Lydia watched as said card quickly took care of the rest, causing the other cards to glow as Baby aged into the adult Thousand Dragon. Baby looked down at his much bigger form and roared in delight, proudly beating his larger wings.

“Let’s go!” Lydia said to Baby as she headed for the alleyway that Yugi had just gone through, Baby flying ahead of her to scout ahead. Lydia didn't know what was going on here or what these people wanted with Yugi, but they had to do something before it was too late, and at least now they were more prepared for whatever they would have to face.

Aaron smiled at his mistresses plane and flowed behind her. “This is going to be fun.” He whispered under his breath as he figured what was coming next.

As Yugi was still walking down the alley he suddenly heard Joey's voice coming from up ahead, and he began to run in the direction. He knew that his friend was never one to get picked on, so this person must have been new, or stronger than his friend. As he approached he saw that Joey was pushed against the wall with a strange man holding the front of his shirt. “Now Stop struggling and give me what I want.” Yugi heard the man with brown hair threaten Joey as he pushed up on the sirt holding the struggling man against the wall. Yugi couldn’t watch as his friend got bullied, so he ran as fast as he could, and slammed himself into the perpetrator who stumbled away from Joey, and freed his shirt. The man landed hard on the ground as Yugi looked to Joey. “Let’s get outta here.”

Joey straightened himself back up, but made no attempt to move from where he was. Instead, he took out a card that had been concealed in his hands, and held it out in front of Yugi.

“Holding Arms, seize him!” Joey said, his voice warping as his blond hair began to turn grey. The card glowed, and the Holding Arms monster emerged from it and flew directly at Yugi, its shackles latching onto Yugi’s wrists and lifting them over his head. Meanwhile, Joey’s voice and appearance continued to change even more, the illusion dissolving to reveal the old woman from the store.

“My apologies for the deception, little one.” The crone began to say, approaching Yugi while her accomplice regained his composure. “It's nothing personal on your end, really, but I’m afraid we’ll have to borrow your friend.” She said as she reached for the chain around Yugi’s neck with one hand, taking hold of the Millennium Puzzle with the other.

“Do you hear me, Pharaoh?” The old witch cackled, looking down at the Puzzle as she began to remove it from around Yugi’s neck. “Your time has finally come!”

Yugi was looking at Joey as his friend didn’t move, but instead held out a card in front of him. Hand then commanded the card to capture him. With a confused look on his face the monster on the card came to life, and snapped shut around his wrists, and lifted him off of the ground. Holding him against the building. He was in such shock that no sounds left his mouth when this happened. Looking at his friend as he began to speak once more, but his voice and appearance was changing. Yugi had no idea what this old lady was talking about, and when she grabbed his millennium puzzle he began to struggle. “Leave me alone!” Yugi said as he began to struggle, and attempt to kick the old woman off of him.

Aaron had picked himself off of the ground by now, and dusted himself off. He just stood behind his mistress, and smiled at Yugi and his confusion. He also watched with anticipation as the millennium puzzle was being removed from Yugi’s neck. Soo they would have all of the pieces, and he would be able to witness the revenge that was so long overdue.

Black Luster Soldier - Envoy of the beginning appeared in front of Thousand Dragon and his master holding up his free hand to try and stop them from getting involved in what was transpiring. “Young Lady. You need not worry about Yugi. My master will handle the witch. He is more skilled in handling people like her. Besides he hates getting people involved that shouldn't have to. You are a civilian, and shouldn't have to dirty your hands in this war.” He said hoping she would understand. Luke hated when there is collateral damage.

“War?” Lydia asked, visibly surprised. Baby also froze in his tracks, unsure what to make of the new spirit, while Lydia quickly gathered her thoughts. If this one incident was only part of an ongoing war, then all of this ran so much deeper than she could ever imagined. As much as she wanted to help, Lydia knew when to recognize that she was in over her head, but maybe someone else might be of more help to them than her.

“I’m just an initiate, but the teachers at the school I go to are much stronger; they might be able to help you out.” Lydia started to explain. “If you could come with me and talk to the headmistress, maybe she could help.” It was a long shot, and it would mean that the headmistress would find out that she had been sneaking out, but it was worth the risk if a full-blown war was about to break out.

A clapping could be heard down the alley as a young man approached from the opposite end that Yugi entered. It was the same young man with long braided silver hair. “Looks like you finally made your move, you old crone. Instead of sending one of your lackeys to do your dirty work.” Luke said as he pulled two cards out of his pocket. He continued to approach the two that were assaulting Yugi. “My Master sent me to stop you, and guess what? You will remove your filthy hands from the Pharaoh right now.” Luck said as he continued to walk towards them without any fear that there were two of them against him.

The Dark Magician saw what was happening, and wanted to interfere, but knew that he was unable to in his current state. Though he now knew who he was dealing with. The energy was not only familiar, but it belonged to a certain witch that tried to destroy his best friend. Even now he could tell that they were still after the Pharaoh. He hovered in the air as he could only close his eyes as to what was happening. That is when the clapping caught his attention, and he looked at the silver haired young man.

The old crone barely gave Luke a sideways glance. Too little too late, as the saying goes. She literally had the Puzzle in her grasp, and the Pharaoh himself with it; that was all the leverage she would need.

“Watch your step, young one. My hands just might lose their grip.” She said as, with only a brief nod to Aaron, she finally pulled the Puzzle off of Yugi’s neck and held it close to herself, quickly muttering a spell to herself. The spell would instantly transport her and the Puzzle away from here, but the spell would take a great deal of time and concentration for her to use it effectively. In the meantime, she trusted Aaron to be able to keep this little nuisance occupied while she cast the spell, and then he could follow her to the rendezvous point.

Black Luster Soldier - Envoy of the Beginning looked at the young lady as the weight of his words sunk in. However, it was curious that she would mention a school where there were other mages that were more powerful than she was. Looking at her as she spoke he wondered if she was one of the children that went to school at Rosewood. The place where those witches take young mages and brainwash them. Though she didn’t act like one of them. Well it didn’t matter he didn't want to be rude. “Sorry young lady. I don’t go anywhere without my master. I am here to protect the one I choose to bond with. I am his partner, and I will not abandon him. I am sure your spirit feels the same.” He said with a smile as he looked over at the dragon.

Baby nodded proudly, standing tall next to Lydia to emphasize his point and letting out a short, softened bark. Lydia, meanwhile, thought over the knight’s statement and tried to think of a reasonable compromise, wanting to be at least somewhat helpful even if not directly.

“Well, when you get the chance, have your master look up the Rosewood School for Gifted Youth, and ask to see the headmistress.” Lydia explained quickly. “No need to tell them I sent you; in fact, I’d probably get in trouble if they knew I was sneaking out today.” Leaving it at that, she waited there for now, signaling for Baby to do the same. There was no need to get involved if this spirit and his partner really did have everything under control; if anything, it would only land her in even more trouble. But on the other hand, she could not yet fully trust a spirit she had just met, and part of her wanted to at least wait until the threat was over and Yugi was okay before she left.

Luke stopped approaching the witch as she made her threat, and gast a glance up at the Dark Magician that was floating above them. He then looked back to see Aaron looking at him with a smile on his face as he pulled out a card.

“Endymion, the Master Magician, I summon you to this plane.” Aiden said as his bonded spirit appeared in a physical form. “You will not interfere with our plans this time.”

Luke smiled as he looked at the mage before him. “You might think that you are the better mage, but I will prove you wrong.” Luke said as he lifted the two cards to the air, but what was unknown to his opponent is that there was a third card hidden behind the first two. “Evening Twilight knight come to my aid.” Luke said and also under his breath he gave power to the Dark Magician that was the hidden card. The mage would be able to help his master now. “My Evening Twilight Knight. Remove Holding Arms from this plane.” Luke said as the knight pointed his blade at the monster, and a beam of light shot out destroying the monster.

Yugi fell to the ground, and wasted no time running towards the witch, and grabbing the chain that connected to the Millennium Puzzle. “Give me back my puzzle!” Yugi screamed as he pulled back on the item. Not only was it one of his most important items he has. The spirit is one of his friends. He wouldn't allow her to take him away from him.

The Dark Magician could only watch as the puzzle was removed from Yugi’s neck, and he knew that she now had the Pharaoh. Then he heard a voice in his head, and he felt a power rush into him. Then he suddenly took physical form. He looked to the young man for only a moment, and then took the opportunity to attack the witch, and protect his Pharaoh. He rushed towards the witch, and when he got close enough he swung his staff at the witch. “Leave the Pharaoh alone.”

The witch was first distracted when Yugi was freed and tried to take back the Millennium Puzzle, thereby breaking her concentration and disrupting her teleportation spell. Their fight for the Puzzle was in turn cut short when the Dark Magician intervened; the witch did not know that he had also been summoned to the physical plane, so the swing of his staff hit its mark and pushed her back, forcing her to let go of the Puzzle.

Drawing back, the witch looked up and saw the Dark Magician standing between her and Yugi, and looked at the Dark Magician with a soft, wispy laugh.

“I was hoping I’d find you here!” The witch smiled, calmly approaching the Dark Magician despite his obvious hostility toward her. “But come now… there's no need for such jealousy, much less toward your own Pharaoh…”

Aaron and Luke faced one another as everything was happening behind them. This was his plan from the get go, and it worked. The Dark Magician protected the Pharaoh as was his duty as his bonded spirit. Not hearing what was happening between the spirit, and her he was only paying attention to filth in front of him. “Are you going to fight, or run home to your little master like a dog with it’s tail between it’s legs?” Luke asked as he just stood there with his summoned spirit beside him. He knew his spirit didn’t stand a chance, but he did hold one more card in his hand.

Yugi was shocked to see the Dark Magician in front of him like he was a real being, and speaking like he was alive. Though he didn’t waste too much time gawking as he placed the puzzle around his neck once more, and held it close. He never wanted to loose the puzzle ever again. This was not the first time, but it will be the last. He promised the spirit that lives in the puzzle that he would help him, and Yugi planned to keep his promise. “I don’t know what you are talking about? What in the world is going on?” Yugi said as he looked at the woman with a serious look on his face. Yami appeared next to him and looked at the woman. He didn’t know what but her presence felt familiar, but he didn’t recognize her.

The Dark Magician looked at the woman with contempt. He remembered what happened all those long years ago, and he never would let his Pharaoh fall into their clutches once again. “The only thing I harbor towards you is hatred. You and your filthy sister will not lay your hands on the Pharaoh this time. We made a mistake the first time, and that will never happen again” Dark Magician said as he pointed his scepter towards the witch. He didn’t answer Yugi’s question because he couldn’t afford to lose his concentration on the witch. He would protect Yugi and his Pharaoh no matter the consequences.

The witch froze for a moment, genuinely stunned. For what seemed like hours, her eyes never left the Dark Magician, but this time the playful gleam that had once been in her eyes was now gone, replaced by only a blank shock. Her composure returned very slowly as she straightened herself up, standing at her full height now.

“I tried to feel sorry for you. Truly I did.” The witch said after a long while, her voice barely above a whisper. “Part of me always wondered if perhaps you didn't truly deserve what was coming to you.” Her glance lowered toward the cards in her hand, which had hung idly there for some time, and her grip on them grew slightly tighter.

“But that's over now.” The witch hissed, her other hand reaching for one card in particular. “You just destroyed whatever doubts were left in my mind. Shadow Spell!” Whipping out the card, she held it forward as it began to glow. Several dark chains flew out of the card and ensnared the Dark Magician, tightening around him in response to the witch’s seething rage. Not stopping there, the witch immediately used her remaining two cards in a similar fashion, summoning the Maiden of Macabre, whose scythe was then replaced with the Axe of Despair.

“Take him and go.” The witch said sharply with a dismissive wave of her hand. The Maiden of Macabre laughed sadistically at the Dark Magician, flying up to him from behind and seizing him. The Maiden lightly held the edge of her new axe against the Magician’s throat, demonstrating her point to the others present, and then attempted to fly off with him. With that taken care of, the witch then turned to her partner.

“Come; we’ve stayed long enough.” The witch said plainly to her companion, though with a slight edge to her voice. The Pharaoh would have to be spared for now, but she was in no mood to continue with these games, and at least they would not be going away empty-handed.

Dark Magician looked at the witch with a concerned look on his face. Why in the world would what he said cause her to look at him like that? He truly didn’t understand what was going through her mind at that moment. The only thing he did know is somehow he had hurt her deeper that his comment should have. The words she spoke in a whispered voice sounded like she was fighting with herself for some reason. However, before he could say anything further she looked at him with pure hatred in her eyes, and she brought forth a card.

Unable to counter the Trap card that was activated the shadow like chains wrapped around him, and squeezed him tightly. Letting out a scream of pain as he dropped his scepter. The chains continued to constrict around his body causing him to not be able to move let alone breath properly. This was a downfall of being summoned, and given physical form. There bodies were real, and they could feel pain like any mortal. Then the witch activated two other cards, and now he had an axe held to his throat so close he could feel the edge of the blade resting on his skin. One wrong move and he would be forced to die before being returned to spirit form. “Take care of the Pharaoh.” he said as he allowed himself to be taken.

Yugi watched as the Dark Magican protected him from the woman, and how he was now paying for that. Yugi wanted to help but he felt a hand on his shoulder and saw that Yami was there with tears running down his face. Yami felt like he was going to lose a very important friend, but he didn’t know why. This was all causing him to doubt that he was a powerful Pharaoh. He felt so helpless.

Aaron just smiled at Luke and his comment. He wanted nothing more than to teach this young pup what he was capable of, but now was not the time. HIs mistress was telling him it was time to go. Banishing the spirit he gave physical form he just smile. “Maybe next time I can show you a good time, but until then you will just have to wait.” Aaron said as he turned his back to luke and made his way over to his mistress. “Shale we get going.” He said as he grabbed her hand and pulled out another card. “Mystic Box.” he said as him and Naama were covered in a box, and transported to a different location leaving a slime token in their place that soon vanished.

Luke didn’t bat an eye as they left. Since this was not a duel there was no need to pursue them for now. He walked over to Yugi and placed a hand on his shoulder. “I think it best if we go somewhere that we can talk.”

Black Luster Soldier - Envoy of the Beginning nodded his head at the young lady, and smiled. “I will tell my master of your proposal.” He said as he watched her hesitantly stay where she was. He didn’t know how Luke would react to knowing that there was a member of the accursed school that was willing to help him. Turning his back to the young lady he made his way to where his master was.

Several ripples of energy pulsed through the air, but then suddenly they stopped. Whatever had just happened in that alley, Lydia could sense that it was now over, so she felt safe enough to approach slightly closer to the alleyway behind the Black Luster Soldier to see if the danger really was gone. Sure enough, Yugi was okay and the witch was gone, at least for now. The knight spirit approached the stranger who’d congratulated her earlier, who was currently with Yugi mentioning something that they needed to talk about. Satisfied that the danger was over for now, Lydia retreated from the alleyway without a word, and Baby followed closely behind her.

As she was walking back to school, Lydia passed by a man and a boy walking toward the game shop, which was currently being inspected by the fire department. She was a bit wary at first; the boy looked vaguely familiar, and she couldn't feel any obvious magical aura off of either of them, but then again she couldn't sense the witch’s aura either, and these two were both clearly focused on the game shop. But they were both genuinely concerned upon seeing the fire department at the game shop, especially the boy, who immediately broke into a run toward the shop as the man promptly followed him and motioned for him to keep a safe distance. Whoever they were, they obviously didn't mean any harm, so Lydia didn't think anything more of it and continued on her way back to school.
    Thanks for the set, Kicks!

Yugi looked up at the man that had somehow saved the Pharaoh, and even knew about him. Suggesting that they went somewhere a little more private to talk. Nodding his head as they walked back to the card shop. He wanted to get something from the shop before they headed to a more private setting. “I know of a place, but I have to stop by my room to get something.” Yugi said as they made their way back.

“You are heading back to get the God cards aren't you Yugi?” Yami said with a concerned look on his face. Yugi had put them away for safe keeping, but with all that has happened it probably would be best to keep them on himself. He still wondered why he was crying when the Dark Magician was taken.

“Yea. I am not too sure who is after you, but I figure that having their power would be a good idea.”

Luke followed young Yugi as he made his way back to the shop. Black Luster Soldier - Envoy of the Beginning came to his side. The spirit didn’t say a word to his master as they returned to the card shop. As they appeared out of the ally the fire department was there, and talking to Yugi’s grandfather. Luke knew this was going to be a long day. Not only did Yugi's bonded Spirit get taken, but for some reason they left with just that?

Could that spirit actual have been one of The Pharaoh's priests that were trying to protect him, and reborn like that? He would have to ask his master about that, and if it was the case he may have made a treble mistake.

Mokuba could only wait and watch as the fire department was concluding their investigation, but he continued to look around anxiously. Yugi could almost always be found helping around the game shop, but there was no sign of him anywhere! Mokuba didn't want to think the worst, especially not now, but...

Thankfully Mokuba's fears were promptly dispelled when he saw Yugi emerging from an adjacent alleyway. Mokuba didn't know what had just happened here, but at least Yugi was okay, and it didn't look like anyone else was hurt.

"Yugi!" Mokuba called out as he started to run up to Yugi, Roland continuing to follow behind his young charge. Mokuba took a deep breath, but just as he was about to say something further, someone else followed Yugi out of the alleyway.

"What happened? Is everyone alright?" Mokuba asked, briefly eyeing the stranger who'd been following Yugi. He didn't know who the white-haired guy was, so better to wait until he and Yugi could find somewhere more private before he brought up what he had really come here to talk about.

Yugi was not paying much attention till he heard a familiar voice call out his name. He looked up and saw Mokuba running towards him with Roland right behind him. Yugi was glad to see a familiar face, but Mokuba is rarely see without his brother, and Yugi didn’t see him anywhere. Smiling as the younger Kaiba approved. “Hey Mokuba.” He said in his normal happy tone. He didn’t want to get anyone involved with what just happened. But just as Mokuba was going to say something his eyes went to the man behind him, and Yugi knew that this was going to be hard to explain. Then the questions started, and Yugi just sighed knowing that there was no way around this now.

Luke turned the corner, and saw that a young man was talking to Yugi, and something caught his eye. It was the Blue Eyes White Dragon. She was staring right at him, and he at her. Taking a step back as she growled at him, out of instinct he bowed to her our of respect. She was a powerful spirit, and he didn’t want to be on her bad side. After he had bowed she turned her head, and looked down at mokuba. Luke could tell she was worried about something, but was unsure what it was. If this child was her bonded master.

No that can’t be right. Why would the young man have a bonded spirit? He has no magical power that he could tell, and nine time out of ten children were unable to hid their power. Unless they had been trained. He doubted that very much. When the young man began to speak asking questions, and Yugi seemed a little uncomfortable at the line of questioning.

Yugi looked back at Luke as he then began to speak. “Hey Mokuba I know this might be a little strange, but…” Yugi really hated keeping secrets from his friends. That is when Luke spoke up. “I am sorry to say that speaking out in the open might not be the best course of action. Besides Yugi. I don’t like involving people in matters that don’t concern them, but your friend here has a right to know. Since ‘She’ is with him.” Luke said as he move beside Yugi.

“Yugi needs to retrieve something from the card shop, and then we were going to go somewhere we can talk. If you would like you can come along. ‘She’ seems upset as well. So shall we?”
