    Default [M] Battle of Rundown

    1 AD, August 8th

Rundown, its name said all that needed to be said. This filthy broken city was covered in whatever sludge the demons had left behind. A thick layer of grime coated everything while deep ditches surrounded with slick mud up and down their surfaces. The city lacked walls but was quite large, its infrastructure was a shame to behold. Buildings were makeshift, slapped together out of whatever materials had been handy at the time. It had been built upon the ruins of a city destroyed by the Great Destroyer himself back in his early days. Now it had become a hive of decadence that the demons cherished every moment of.

Trolls were the first line of the assault on the city. They raged as they charged across the fields leading to the outer rings of Rundown. The tactics here were very simple, invade and conquer. The Southern Kingdoms and Trolls were being led by the young Anais Philandouil. She rode behind the line of Trolls atop a white steed while wearing a set of heavily polished armor. It had wings upon the back with a banner prominently flying her colors and the heraldry of the Southern Kingdoms. She led a group of knights that flocked behind her with wings and similar armor. These were the mighty winged hussars of the Southern Kingdoms, some of the best lancer cavalry that were available anywhere.

Following them and the Trolls were marching formations of infantry with spears at the front and archers backing them up, at each flank were armored infantry that acted as shock troops typically. The demons were expecting them. Rather than forming a battle outside of the city they welcomed the invaders and held on the outer ring of the city just inside the perimeter behind the ditches. At their forefront were massive creatures, minotaurs and cyclops that they were going to use to absorb the charge. Nearly naked warriors with bows sprinted about the streets going back and forth while their demonic kin stood and awaited the battle that was coming for them.

"You want to help them, don't you?"

"They're likely to need it. The fool leading them is charging the city as if it were a line of infantry, between the mud and those larger creatures they are pissing away one of their advantages by leaving the slower forces to struggle into that mud"

    "Not to mention
Anything they buried in it. Hells it's going to be a bloodbath."
Durako pushed off the tree he had been leaning against, Warren kneeling next to him as the pair watched the beginning of the battle start to unfold. It didn't take long for the cousins to gather their things and make for the city, heading towards the far end from the Southern kingdoms army to try and avoid association. Both hoping that if anyone only a small group of duller Destruin had stayed to defend this side of the city.

It took them some time on foot but they eventually made it to the outskirts after navigating the mud, Warren now covered in mud from having slipped. By now the battle would be underway although the pair could no longer see what was happening the sounds of death crept through the streets.

"We should head towards any kind of command structure and 'report in'. I know how much your ego loves this part."

"Quiet slave, you should watch your tongue if you wish to keep it." A sly grin crept over Durako's lips while Warren simply rolled his eyes, his cousin enjoying the act far to much.

"Me'lord would do well to not fall on his own sword in this thick mud." Warren was sarcastic in his response but kept it formal enough to hopefully convince any nearby patrols that may be close enough to hear them now they had entered the city, hopefully undetected.
We all hide behind a mask to protect who we really are. Some of us just happen to hide behind many, to hide just how broken we are without them.
