Spoiler: The Story So Far... 

Spoiler: Centuries ago, in Imperial China,... 

...There once existed the humble riverside village of Chunhou. Despite lacking the opulence of the larger cities and trade ports closer to the capital, Chunhou enjoyed a modest degree of peace and prosperity in its own right, its economy relying mostly on fishing and the occasional arrival of merchant ships. Here was where Yun Wei, a scholar and former commander in the Imperial Army, chose to settle upon his retirement; seeking a simpler life away from the intrigues and corruption in the Imperial Court, Yun Wei also opened his own school in the village, where eager students could learn both the martial arts skills he'd learned in the military and the scholarly works of some of the greatest minds in the capital. Yun Wei's school contributed greatly to the cultural and economic growth of Chunhou and earned Yun Wei a great deal of respect in the village, and as word spread, prospective students from the larger cities soon came to the school as well.

As the years passed, Yun Wei's seven most senior students grew into fine warriors with bright futures ahead of them. Upon successful completion of their final tests, each of the seven students received a commemorative gift from Yun Wei: an ornate amulet bearing an image of the animal of each student's preferred Kung Fu style.

Nearly all of Chunhou celebrated that day, but among the townsfolk and the other students were a number of jealous malcontents who saw Yun Wei's gift to the seven as a blatant sign of favoritism. Among these other students was a sorcerer's son who, despite having failed to complete his own final tests, challenged each of the seven to a one-on-one fight in an effort to prove that he himself was a superior fighter. One by one, each of the seven defeated the sorcerer's son, who lashed out at them with a bolt of dark magic despite the dark arts being strictly forbidden at the school.

The sorcerer's son was promptly expelled as a result, and retaliated by assembling a band of followers armed with black magics to attack Chunhou that very night. The seven students died that night while trying to save as many lives as they could, but Yun Wei led the charge against the invaders and defeated them, driving them out of Chunhou and sending them to flee into exile; hence, from that point on, the sorcerer's son and his followers became simply known as the Exiles.

Yun Wei, however, always suspected that their enemies would not be so easily stopped for good. Taking the seven medallions he'd given to the seven students, he used magic to imbue each medallion with the chi of the student to whom it was given, ensuring that his students' legacy would live on and would be ready to face the Exiles should they ever return again.

Spoiler: Now, in present-day Virtue Bay... 

...The enemies of old are preparing to return, this time on a much larger scale that would have been unheard of in Yun Wei's time. After countless centuries of hiding and gathering strength, the Exiles are now prepared to resurface in modern times, and they are not alone. The Exiles' time in hiding has been well-spent, forging secret alliances with some of the technological leaders of this new age - including, most recently, the CEO of weapons company Romulus Arms - to create an all-new arsenal that combines the potent magics of the ancient ways with the power and versatility of modern technology. If they are not stopped in time, the Exiles will soon be able to bring their terrible vengeance upon the world that had rejected them and has now conveniently turned a blind eye to the old ways.

But this situation is not without hope, and not everyone has turned their backs on the old ways. The medallions of Yun Wei have been passed down to his descendants from one generation to the next, and have now found their way to the Wei family in Virtue Bay. Now owning and running their own martial arts school in town, Yun Wei's living descendants now guard the medallions and continue to train and search for those who might one day be worthy to receive their power.

If and when that time comes, they will be called upon to defend their world from the Exiles and finally end the war that had been started so long ago.

Spoiler: Rules

Spoiler: Yun Wei’s Seven Senior Students 

Yun Wei’s first seven students were the talk of the town in Chunhou. Together with Yun Wei himself, they went on to become the de facto guardians of the village, and each also became prominent figures in their own right. After their untimely demise, Yun Wei imbued their chi into the commemorative medallions that they each received upon graduation, ensuring that their legacy would live on and creating a safeguard against the Exiles should they ever resurface.

Spoiler: Furious Ming (Mantis) 

Ming and his twin sister Jen Zi were orphaned street urchins adopted by Yun Wei shortly after he arrived in Chunhou. As the very first of Yun Wei’s students, the twins played a large role in helping Yun Wei’s school to grow and expand as much as it did. Spoiler: Lu the Prodigy (Monkey) 

Lu demonstrated a talent for athletics and the martial arts from an early age, but as the son of a humble fisherman in Chunhou, Lu had few opportunities for formal training at first. Under Yun Wei’s tutelage, however, Lu excelled far beyond the expectations of the locals, earning him the unofficial title of “the prodigy” and inspiring him to compete in tournaments to earn money for his family, in turn helping to spread the word about Yun Wei’s school throughout the region.

Spoiler: Radiant Jen Zi (Snake)

Spoiler: Scholar Ling (Crane) 

As her title suggests, Scholar Ling was remarkably well-educated for a woman of the time. Born to a wealthy family in the Capital, Ling had received an extensive formal education in philosophy and the arts in the Capital even before arriving in Chunhou. However, not long after she came of age, Ling was kidnapped and held for ransom by a crime syndicate known as the Scarlet Fang; Ling was rescued unharmed, but the ordeal prompted her parents to send her to Yun Wei’s school so that she could learn to defend herself. Under Yun Wei’s tutelage, Ling became a capable fighter specializing in the Crane style and a masterful chi wielder, and her scholarly background and connections in the Capital contributed greatly to the growth of Yun Wei’s school as a thriving cultural center.

Spoiler: Tiger Shen (Tiger) 

Shen (dubbed “Tiger Shen” by the Capital tournament circuit) was already a well-known figure at several underground fighting tournaments prior to meeting Yun Wei. Shen narrowly lost to a masked woman in the final bout at one such tournament, but not before Yun Wei and the masked woman (who turned out to be a disguised Scholar Ling) revealed to him that the entire tournament was a front set up by the Scarlet Fang crime syndicate to kidnap and forcibly recruit new members. With Shen’s help, the corrupt tournament was exposed and brought to an immediate halt, after which Shen became a student and later instructor at Yun Wei’s school.

Spoiler: Wu the Lotus Blossom (Leopard) 

The daughter of a slave woman, Wu was abandoned as a baby in hopes that she would live free, and was subsequently raised by a kindly farmer in Chunhou. Wu’s beauty became the talk of the town when she came of age, leading to many local suitors calling her “the Lotus Blossom”, though Wu herself never thought much of her looks and grew up to be something of a tomboy. Wu also grew to despise slavery and devoted a great deal of her life to fighting against it wherever possible, due in no small part to her own origins and the glimpses she saw of how slaves were treated at the time, especially by the royalty and nobility.

Spoiler: Monk Zeng (Dragon) 

Zeng was originally raised from birth as a Shaolin monk, but as a teenager he longed to see more of the outside world, to the point where his frustrations would lead to the occasional outburst or argument with his fellow monks. The elders in the Shaolin temple realized that Zeng needed time to see the outside world for himself and find his own path in life, so they permitted him to leave the temple for a period of time as a lay monk for this purpose. It was during these travels that he arrived in Chunhou and met Yun Wei, who initially offered him a job as an instructor for the younger students, though as time went on Zeng was eventually taken in as a student as well. Becoming well-acquainted with the other senior students over time, Zeng soon matured into a brave, confident young man and a de facto leader of the seven in times of trouble.

Thiago is the right hand of the Sorcerer, his goal is to help the Sorcerer’s son, ultimately taking the role of babysitter, ensuring that the son of the one he serves completes his task . Sent to infiltrate the school, Thiago hides his secret very well and is one of the top students under his guise.

Short Bio: "I was brought up in one of the hidden temples of warrior monks from generations within the past. I knew nothing of my mother or father, instead, I was looked after and trained more specifically by my grandfather. My home was formerly Kawagarbo, up in the mountain. It was not easy, growing as I was. Being a grandson of one of the two Sensei, much expectation was placed upon my shoulders. As a young one, I was looked up to, or envied, by many of the young students. However, I didn't pay attention to any negativity however, as I focused more on my studies than anything else.

I spent much time alone, training or meditating when I had time of freedom.

For a majority of the time, I did not encounter much of the outside world other than the others who lived near the mountain. My grandfather and Sensei Gohu conflicted on conforming to the modern way of living. My grandfather was still very much stuck to the past, in which Master Gohu wished to lead us in a different direction.

However, Gohu was not exemplary. He may have perhaps had honor at one time, yet, I will not forget what he had done to Fan. Ever since then, I saw how much he had strayed from the path in which grandfather had taught us. He was too quick to anger, brutal, and rarely was remorseful. In my youth, I used to believe that while I did not particularly agree with the things Gohu had done, that perhaps going into the modern world would be better. However, my grandfather, was too the Grandmaster, in which, his word overruled Gohu.

Though, this wouldn't be for long...."

Other Notes: With the master's help, the boy grew into one of the best fighters in the temple. It was even once stated that he could possibly become the youngest to attain the Grandmaster rank in the Leopard Style of Kung Fu.

Short Bio: Seth Grew up outside of Virtue bay only recently arriving for college. (assuming we are going for a more mature theme than high schoolers)He was always a scrapper and found that fighting was good exorcise, to channel this desire in a more constructive way his mother enrolled him int he local dojo and from there he began to compete in tournaments, though he never aimed to win and instead settled for participating in the post tournament exhibition matches. His aspirations to become a teacher lead him to virtue bay and he also hoped to find a new school to train in a new martial art.

Her mother was of the Eagle Claw, and her father, was of the Southern Praying Mantis, so instead of deciding on one, she showed and proved her parents that she was capable of learning both. Lijuan ever since she was young, has had the ability to see a possible future, which she learned it was from her grandmother. She has always lived in Virture Bay, her family has strong ties and family history; however despite this, she was never one to use her family influence to her own advantage, she would only help those who were truly in need of it. Lijuan is compassionate above all else, however that does not mean that she cannot get angry.

In Zheng’s case, he typically uses his chi to supplement his martial arts prowess by amplifying physical attacks, forming energy blasts, and healing himself after a fight through meditation.
Weapons: Zheng doesn’t usually use physical weapons, but specializes in the use of the staff.

Other Skills: Zheng has a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from USC and, although his career has been put on hold in light of the emerging threat of the Exiles, he still frequently helps with the construction needs around the school and enjoys building things as a hobby.

The siblings rarely talk about any specific details, but it is known that they inherited the martial arts school that their grandfather had established in Virtue Bay, as well as the fabled medallions of Yun Wei's seven senior students. It was their grandfather's dream for the school to enhance and strengthen the community rather than taking away from it, and the siblings' management remains faithful to that vision by regularly donating to local charities and actively involving the school in community projects and events, which has in turn greatly boosted the school's reputation and helped it to flourish over the years. More recently, however, the Wei siblings have been devoting noticeably more time than usual toward improving the school and accelerating the offered training programs; these changes are certainly not unwelcome in the community, but have since left many people wondering why.

In Lian’s case, she specializes in healing injuries and illnesses by channeling her chi and that of others to accelerate the body's natural healing processes, although how long and complex a particular healing session may be typically depends on how serious or extensive the ailment is.
Weapons: Lian does not specialize in the use of any particular weapon, but can quickly improvise if need be.
Fighting Styles: Taijiquan (Tai Chi), Shaolin Wushu
Other Skills: Lian is a licensed doctor specializing in homeopathic medicine, and consequently she also has a solid practical knowledge of botany and herbalism.

Lian also teaches Tai Chi at the school.

Short Bio: "I was brought up in one of the hidden temples of warrior monks from generations within the past. I knew nothing of my mother or father, instead, I was looked after and trained more specifically by my grandfather. My home was formerly Kawagarbo, up in the mountain. It was not easy, growing as I was. Being a grandson of one of the two Sensei, much expectation was placed upon my shoulders. As a young one, I was looked up to, or envied, by many of the young students. However, I didn't pay attention to any negativity however, as I focused more on my studies than anything else.

I spent much time alone, training or meditating when I had time of freedom.

For a majority of the time, I did not encounter much of the outside world other than the others who lived near the mountain. My grandfather and Sensei Gohu conflicted on conforming to the modern way of living. My grandfather was still very much stuck to the past, in which Master Gohu wished to lead us in a different direction.

However, Gohu was not exemplary. He may have perhaps had honor at one time, yet, I will not forget what he had done to Fan. Ever since then, I saw how much he had strayed from the path in which grandfather had taught us. He was too quick to anger, brutal, and rarely was remorseful. In my youth, I used to believe that while I did not particularly agree with the things Gohu had done, that perhaps going into the modern world would be better. However, my grandfather, was too the Grandmaster, in which, his word overruled Gohu.

Though, this wouldn't be for long...."

Other Notes: With the master's help, the boy grew into one of the best fighters in the temple. It was even once stated that he could possibly become the youngest to attain the Grandmaster rank in the Leopard Style of Kung Fu.

Doesn't usually like to talk about what happened in his past.

Currently lives with his uncle Sean, whom he had recently determined a year prior.

Fighting Styles: Though Seth was trained in jiujutsu and Shito-ryu he's learned to adapt what he learned into his own fighting art so that he can avoid being read by opponents. He focuses on strong strikes and immobilizing grapples.

Short Bio: Seth Grew up outside of Virtue bay only recently arriving for college. (assuming we are going for a more mature theme than high schoolers)He was always a scrapper and found that fighting was good exorcise, to channel this desire in a more constructive way his mother enrolled him int he local dojo and from there he began to compete in tournaments, though he never aimed to win and instead settled for participating in the post tournament exhibition matches. His aspirations to become a teacher lead him to virtue bay and he also hoped to find a new school to train in a new martial art.

Power(s): Wind, Premonitions
She is able to create small tornadoes and whirlwinds, and for short bursts able to levitate, but then must wait to use it again. She is also able to make the wind cut like a sharp knife.
She was also born with the ability to have short visions of a possible future although it is not guaranteed that it will come true.
Weapons: Sais, and a set of knuckles or her Eagle's talons

• Southern Praying Mantis (Nán Pài Tángláng) - places a heavy emphasis on close-range fighting.
  Chow Gar Tong Long (周家螳螂) is an aggressive style with emphasis on close range fighting.

She stands at 5'7"

Short Bio: Lijuan was born into a family of Wushu warriors although they were never power rangers, her parents were of different fighting styles. Her mother was of the Eagle Claw, and her father, was of the Southern Praying Mantis, so instead of deciding on one, she showed and proved her parents that she was capable of learning both. Lijuan ever since she was young, has had the ability to see a possible future, which she learned it was from her grandmother. She has always lived in Virture Bay, her family has strong ties and family history; however despite this, she was never one to use her family influence to her own advantage, she would only help those who were truly in need of it. Lijuan is compassionate above all else, however that does not mean that she cannot get angry.
