Ant
Region: North (Rare), South (Common)
Description: Though found most often in the southern region, ants will sometimes find their way up north. They are usually best left alone, however ants will attack anyone and anything that comes close to their nest. They’re particularly found in cave systems nearer the mountains, but sometimes will be found in the open desert. Whether they tunnelled there or not, will probably be left unknown. Though rarely seen, when an ant colony feels threatened wing soldier ants emerge from the nests in Oregon.
Black Beetle
Region: North (Common), South (Rare)
Description: Usually restricted to dark moist areas, Black Beetles are large dog-sized beetles that are largely docile. They are a scavenging species that are quite like radroaches, only larger. They seem to detest sunlight, only coming out at night.
Bloatfly
Region: North (Common), South (Rare)
Description: Bloatflies are enormous blowflies with a mean streak. They pose only a minor threat to the prepared, but may prove lethal to unwary travelers. They found most commonly in the northern region, but can sometimes be found further south, preying on loners
Cazador
Region: North (Never), South (Uncommon)
Description: These nightmares are new to the wasteland, at least this far north. Not much is different from their other regional counterparts, other than they live in smaller colonies. Unfortunately, they’ve moved into stay, and left unwarranted, they could be in the region for good.
Mantis
Region: North (Very rare), South (rare)
Description: Another new arrival to the wasteland, these however, came with a purpose. It seems some bright spark was bored of having a big horner ranch and decided to try his hand at breeding Manti. Unfortunately, he ended up dead, and the bugs spread into the Wasteland
Radroach
Region: North (Common), South (uncommon)
Description: They can survive just about anywhere and can be found just about that too. Though they’re mostly found north, quite a few have been seen south, scavenging whatever they can
Radscorpion
Region: North (common), South (Very common)
Description: Feared practically everywhere, Radscorpions show up to ruin your day. The High Desert Wasteland is no different and most varieties can be seen. Careful you don’t stumble into a nest. These things are quite aggressive however, and will often find themselves enticing the ire of a bigger, meaner beast.
Scorpion:
Region: North (uncommon), South (common)
Description: Though the lesser of their bigger meaner cousins, scorpions can surprise the unwary traveller. They show a reluctance of travelling north, but will on occasion track their prey up there.
Big Horner
Region: North (Very Common), South (Very Common)
Description: “If you haven’t seen a Big Horner, you haven’t been to Oregon” or at least that’s what the locals say (or should do). Big Horners, along with Brahmin are the most common sight in Oregon; vast herds can be seen from miles away. They don’t seem to mind if it’s dry or wet, they move in and you’ve gotta like it.
Brahmin
Region: North (Very Common), South (Very Common)
Description: Though they’re far more common in inhabited areas, Brahmin can be found across Oregon, stumbling into nests and doing dumb things. Though they’re usually harmless, a Brahmin stampede can kill.
Coyote
Region: North (Common), South (Very Common)
Description: Another very common sight to Oregon, particularly in the south is coyotes. They travel in packs of 5 to 9 at any one time, so if you see one, you can bet your ass you’ll see more.
Dog
Region: North (Common), South (Common)
Description: Sometimes seen in packs, sometimes on their own. They’re usually found fighting coyotes for food, or hassling some stranger for theirs. Dogs will sometimes be adopted on homesteads, or just sneak into town and steal what they can. Largely, however, dogs are pretty harmless… unless they’re rabid.
Feral Ghouls:
Region: North (Common), South (uncommon)
Description: Oregon doesn’t lack any feral ghouls. They tend to wander about, attacking anything they see, although they seem to prefer the rockier lands to the north. Maybe it’s the irradiated soaked soil, or maybe they just prefer it chilly. No one particularly knows or cares why they’re up there, just that they are.
Giant Rat
Region: North (Common), South (Common)
Description: Rats go where there’s activity, and they’ll often be found trying to scavenge off anything they can… though usually if it’s bigger and meaner, they have the patience and the sense to remain hidden until nightfall. Though they’re harmless by themselves, stumble on a bunch and you might have some trouble.
Mole Rat
Region: North (Common), South (Uncommon)
Description: A bit bigger than their “giant cousins”, Mole rats tend to live in burrows in the north. They come south every now and then for food, but mostly, they keep to themselves. Rumour has it, some even keep them as pets.
Night Stalker
Region: North (Uncommon), South (Common)
Description: Nightstalkers seem to have followed the coyotes from the south and have now began to “stalk” the High Desert. Though they are rarely seen in the day, they come out of their dens at night and stalk homesteads and whatever easy meat they can find. It is rumoured that a pack of two-headed Night Stalkers stalk an area of the High Desert Wasteland.
Yao Guai
Region: North (uncommon), South (Never)
Description: Yao Guai’s have always seemed to live in the northern regions of the desert, though they are never seen in the warmer regions. They’re quite an uncommon sight, and are always alone. Though females will tend to appear with their cubs, when they do, they’re at their most dangerous and will attack on sight.
Deathclaw
Region: North (Uncommon), South (Rarely)
Description: Recently deathclaws have shown up in the area to the north east, though they’ve mainly kept to themselves, the odd horror story will come into town and give everyone a shiver. ‘cause they know, every now and then a deathclaw ventures south, and one day, they could be its victims. Despite this, Deathclaws are fairly rare, unless you know where to look.
Gecko
Region: North (uncommon), South (common)
Description: A fairly common sight, if you go looking for trouble. Geckos tend to live in the southern region and live in vast numbers. Sometimes they can be seen “hunting” but most of the time they’re hanging around their nests and protecting it. If you know where a nest is, keep your distance and warn others. If one Gecko knows you’re there, they all do.
Lakelurk
Region: North (Rare) South (Rare)
Description: Quite a rare sight indeed, indeed in the high desert wasteland. It seems the bright spark who brought the Mantis, also brought these creepy things in the form of eggs, releasing them into the lakes, so the locals could have yet another danger to go through to find water. Without diving equipment, who knows what you might find beneath the lake.
