History : Amelia went in to the military after high school mostly due to her fathers insisting.

"You need to learn discipline," he'd insisted, "you lack discipline and structure. The military can make you in to a better adult than I can, and I won't let you become some slob who lives at home. It's military or out."

So she went, albeit begrudgingly, and it actually didn't turn out too bad. She rose through the ranks as a model soldier amongst her peers not special enough to stand out, but not stupid enough to be singled out by sergeants. A few months before the announcement she even gained the rank of Lieutenant....and then the news came. Of course she wanted her father to come, an old Navy captain could be extremely useful on the new planet. He had more experience than most, but he was being stubborn.

"Someone has to stay back to serve and protect," he'd sigh, "besides I'm an old dog. That colony is for you new kids. All the rest of us belong here."

So he stayed, and she went.

lol, he doesn't get annoyed very easy, hell, he enjoys some playful cattiness in his staff. He'll prolly just put up with it like the softie he kinda is.
