Default [M/IC] War of the Hidden (Numbers and Naming)

It was hard to dislike the human's festivals, all things considered.

Under normal circumstances, Shivali was not the biggest fan of such traditions. The music and dancing could be fun, but the conversation only seemed to grow less intelligent as the night wore on and all the locals drank themselves into a stupor. The enjoyable gathering of friends would only grow loud and obnoxious, and they often insisted on burning things that they had spent months building for just such a purpose. The Tehnu woman couldn't help but think of such as an extraordinary waste, though perhaps that was merely because of her own people's history of frivolity and how it had brought them to ruin. Most of her find viewed such excess as a thing to be avoided, for the most part, or indulged in only very rarely.

Of course, it wasn't all negative. Even if the streets became so crowded that simply walking from one side of the road to the other could prove to be a struggle, it helped this particular outsider deflect attention away from herself. Normally even the most inconspicuous cloak could not hide Shivali in towns like these - she found herself attracting stares regardless. It was understandable enough, given the swirling patterns that blanketed her skin, but annoying nonetheless. Whispers and stares seemed to follow her wherever she went in towns like these, and rumours spread like wildfire, making it hard to stay hidden. During festivals like these, however, there was a notable difference. She was paid less attention, and treated like less of an outsider by those who did deign to take notice. Indeed, most of the residents seemed friendly enough if they spoke to her, and refrained from any of their usual questioning. More often than not she was simply asked by strangers if she wished to dance.

Shivali refused, of course - she had her own matters to attend, and saw them as being infinitely more important than simple, frivolous merrymaking.

Such was the mindset of the Tehnu woman as she ducked and weaved her way through the town square, whilst occasionally brute-forcing her way past those too intoxicated or enraptured to notice her passing. As the girl moved, she spared a glance for the source of their attention - a trio of gigantic straw effigies that had been erected in the town square, and were waiting to be burned. The lighting of them had some symbolic value to the humans, doubtless, but she knew not what it was. Only that the conflagration would mark both the closing point of the festival, and the height of the celebration. Shaking her head, the Tehnu warrior-servant would press onwards.

For the time being her goal was merely to make it towards the other side of the square, where she could slip from the main roads and into the backstreets, which should prove significantly less crowded at this time as everyone gathered for the finale.

Her actual objective was equally simple, in theory, but would prove much more difficult to fulfil in practice.

After what felt like an eternity of shoving her way forward with shoulders and elbows, Shivali finally burst from the crowds on the far side of the square. She would take a few steps away hastily, before glancing back - taking in the sight of the veritable sea of people she had just managed to cross. Had her own people been so prominent once? It was hard to believe sometimes. Regardless, she was quick to slip into a nearby alleyway, heading away from the town square and further towards the city's extremities. She walked with grace and purpose, at a pace that was hardly leisurely. Still, even as she pushed forward, the girl couldn't help but worry inwardly at the magnitude of her task.

Find the runaway princess. Take her into custody, protective or otherwise. Escort her away from the city and out of reach of the rest of her people

One person, on the run and trying to hide, in all of this. Its going to be like trying to find a needle in the world's biggest haystack

Despite her concerns, though, Shivali pressed onwards, head held high. She was a warrior-servant of the Lotus. One of the chosen few, the blessed warriors believed to be the peak of her dwindling kind. She would not fail in her objective, even if it meant she needed to search every room in the city one at a time.

Christina moved quickly from the left to the right, dodging as the cross-bolts shot at her. Her body was moving quickly, her ears were perked up and her tail followed in a more loose fashion to keep her steady. Her whole body head to toe was covered in armor as her bodies worked to protect her. As she saw different parts of buildings near her, she would swing her arm and in turn, make a blade of bodies fly through the air to cut parts of buildings to make them fall behind her.

It was a good thing that a festival was going on right now because she was making plenty of noise. She quickly ducked as she was running as a few more bolts shot over her head. As they landed on the ground in front of her she jumped over them and then moved to slide along the ground under a sword that went to swing at her. These special forces were good, she had to hand that to them. Being good wasn't enough though. She quickly turned around and swung her arm again making another blade slice through the air, slicing the soldiers leg off. In her mind, she sent silent prayers but even though they were her people, they were her enemy right now.

How they found her so quickly this time was a mystery to her. Her father must be really wanting her back now and probably has the whole scout army on the lookout for her in order to alert the special forces. Another bolt shot at her and without the room to dodge, her bodies quickly made a shield of earth grow from the ground to take the bolt. Good thing she was short. She turned a few tight corners and kept moving around. For a moment she had a quick breath and she looked for a new way to move. The roofs would be easier for her since they would be open and leave for fewer surprises for a sword user to get her as well as more room to dodge the bolts.

Christina quickly moved to one of the sides of the buildings and quickly climbed up it's side to the top. She heard some shouting behind her and saw some of the agents already jumping from roof to roof. How many of them were dispatched? She had already knocked out five, chopped the legs off of another three, and had gotten another ten stuck under rubble. Was the whole special forces team after her? They were a smaller army, only about a hundred of them at most and she had already taken over ten percent of them down.

However many they sent, she didn't have time to think. She quickly looked around and started running again, jumping from rooftop to rooftop. As she ran and dodged more bolts she started to get a headache. A low voice could be heard in her head. "Approaching stage 2. Please confirm." Christina cursed under her breath. She knew that it was incoming and had denied it a few times already that night. However, at this rate, it was simply going to force it on her. "Confirm." She said aloud. She was going to need to find an open area for stage 2 to take over.

She kept looking around and found a much more open area. It was only accessible by rooftop and alleyways. It looked like it was part of the poorer area of the town as there was a bunch of poor quality buildings around the open area with a well in the middle of the area. She quickly jumped from roof top to roof top, occasionally passing above someone who was in the alleyway. Someone who was probably drunk. She didn't have time to worry about them.

As she got to the open area she quickly jumped onto the ground next to the well and fell down to one knee. The agents after her quickly jumped down to the ground as well. In total, there was twenty of them surrounding the area on the ground and some more crouched on the rooftops. One of them walked forward and the armor he wore marked him as the commanding officer.

"Well, are you ready to come home with us princess? I don't know why you ran, but if you tell me why I'll do my best to make sure that the wrongs are corrected." Christina looked up at him. She had known the commanding officer for a while. They were childhood friends. "I'm sorry Chris, but while my father is in control there is nothing you can do to protect me." She stood up weakly and put her fists up, ready to fight. "If you marry me, then your father will be forced to give up the throne as part of the law." Christina shook her head and Chris seemed disappointed. "I'm sorry Chris, but he would never let that happen. He has too much to lose from this. How much have you been told about my weapon."

Chris paced from side to side thinking for a moment. "That it's dangerous, and that without proper training you will die. It doesn't matter what else there is to it if it can kill you I want to bring you home. So please, don't fight." He stopped again. Christina shook her head again and Chris sighed before pulling his sword out. "I'm sorry my princess. Alright, men! Remember, we are taking her alive." With that, he took one step forward before Christina fell to the ground again. She quickly moved into the fetal position and let out a loud noise. It almost sounded like that of a banshee and was loud enough to force anyone that could even slightly hear it to cover their ears as it pierced them easily.

As everyone closed their eyes and moved to cover their ears that was when it happened. Loudly in the minds of everyone, a deep voice could be heard. "Emergency! Mother is in danger! Protect Mother! Stage 2 Activating!" The banshee noise died out and as everyone opened their eyes they could see a beast quickly start to form out of the air. Where Christina was, she was no more as she was visibly enveloped into the body of the beast. The beast quickly finished forming and after a few minutes it was fully formed. It was huge, it forced all the agents to the edge of the 50 opening. Those on the top of the buildings even had to back up some as it was easily fifteen feet tall.

It let out a loud roar before talking in the tongue that everyone understood. "Rest now Mother. We will take care of these insects for you. We are Legion, we are her child of the ages, we have served mother for thousands of years. We will continue to serve her and protect her. Retreat, or die." As no one went to move away, it narrowed its eyes. "Very well. Die you insects!" It moved in a way that was fearsome. It's tail quickly lashed out and sliced through the buildings behind it, making them quickly fall to a destroyed rumble as the agents near them and on top of them were forced to retreat to a safe distance. Then it quickly lunged forward making the agents in its path roll away as it landed on the buildings in front of it, flattening them to the ground and grabbing some of the agents in its mouth, it swallowed them down in one bite while speaking. "Food for the Legion, Energy for the mother."

As the agents watched three of their own get swallowed in one go they quickly started to retreat. Chris put his weapon away and yelled out to the agents. Retreat and regroup at the command post!" With that, the agents started to retreat and the beast watched them leave before lowering its snout to the ground. It smelled around for a moment before speaking. "We know you are there. Identify yourself. We know you are a race that we are at war with." It opens its mouth as it spoke and a black smoke came from its mouth moving into the direction of the enemy it could smell. "Mother wishes to speak with you, so show yourself quickly, before we decide you are a threat." The beast new it was on a timetable. If it stayed out for too long Christina would pass out which would leave her defenseless. So, for now, it quickly started to shrink in size until Christina was standing there on the ground. She was leaning on what appeared to be a black metal cane. She was looking at the ground and she quickly spoke up.

"If you do not hurry I will be forced to fight you." Her energy was extremely low. If she had to fight the beast would finish the fight before taking her somewhere remote where she could pass out safely and rest. She would rather not do that though since she knew if that happen, the bodies would pull energy from the surrounding nature, killing it in order to heal her.

Having finally managed to escape from the crowds, Shivali was somewhat content to wander the alleyways aimlessly for at least the next few moments. Trying to find her target by searching through the crowds in the town square was simply out of the question - there were so many people out there that it would be extremely difficult to distinguish faces from one another, or make sure that she had managed to search an entire area. Moving would be difficult, as she had already proven, and there was no way to make sure that the missing princess was out there to begin with. No, she would much rather devote some time to simply wandering about the alleys, whilst trying to puzzle out a better way to accomplish her goal. There had to be some course of action, some option that she could pursue, if she could just think outside the box a little.

Continuing to walk, the Tehnu warrior picked turns seemingly at random as she moved. There was no rhyme or reason to her movements, really - it simply helped her to move as she tried to think, so she continued to march forward. She made certain to stay aware of her surroundings, just to avoid somebody catching her off guard, as she knew just how dangerous alleyways like this could be in big towns. Still, she was more than capable of defending herself from cutpurses or muggers, and the likelihood that anyone was lurking about with those sorts of nefarious intentions was low during a festival such as this. The bulk of her attention was focused inwards as she tried to figure out the puzzle of a task she had been given, and come up with a solution that was both realistic and efficient.

Unfortunately, her pleasant goal wasn't to last. Shivali's wanderings continued in earnest, but before too long, they were interrupted by the tell-tale metallic twang of crossbows being fired. Snapped out of her stupor, the warrior-servant froze, listening attentively. A few more shots rang out, spaced only a few seconds apart, and then...silence. Pushing her current thoughts to the back of her mind, Shivali was quick to move, rapidly picking up the pace. She broke out into a quick yet stealthy jog, moving as fast as she could whilst keeping her footfalls relatively silent. If there was fighting going on, she didn't wish to give herself away - better to stay back and take stock of the situation, so that she could engage when on her terms, in a manner that she chose, and with a concrete plan in place.

She turned down one alleyway, then another, steadily weaving back and forth as she headed further into the backstreets. It was hard to judge the exact location she had heard the shots ring out from, but Shivali systematically made her way in that direction regardless, doing her best to track down the source with the limited information that she had on hand. Still, with so many twisting turns and no clear and direct path to use, it ended up taking her a fair amount of time to close the distance.

When Shivali finally came across the small clearing, she was certain to stick to the shadows. She stayed hidden in the mouth of one of the branching paths, leaning out just enough to catch sight of what was going on. The sight was...unexpected, to say the least. The sight of so many enemy soldiers in one place was enough to make her breath catch in her throat, and that was before she turned her attention to the hulking thing that stood at the centre of it all. From the sounds of things, that was the princess she was supposed to be tracking. They had known that she held some sort of importance, given how badly the rest of her kind wanted her back, but this was far beyond what she and the rest of the Tehnu people had estimated.

She watched most of the resulting chaos in silence, right up to the point where the scouts announced their retreat. As the larger part of the group scattered - those who had survived, specifically - she was surprised to find two of the scouts heading straight towards her, seeking the safety of the alleyway that was currently serving as her hiding place. Well, there was no way that Shivali was going to risk them taking note of her, and retreating with that information.

She would step forward, raising both of her hands and clutching them around the hilt of an imaginary sword...or a very real blade that was just yet to appear. A scattering of mist began to coalesce around Shivali's hands, before forming into a single gigantic blade.

The sword was almost as large as the Tehnu woman herself, though she hefted the thing without any visible effort, as if the entire blade were weightless. Slightly curved and more than a handspan wide, the lower part of the blade was covered in wavelike serrations, while the tip curved back into a slight hook. The metal gleamed even in the low light of the alleyway, and was covered in some light condensation - a result of the mist that served as part of the summoning process. Even a senile farmer would know just by looking that the blade was a masterwork - its construction was flawless, even under close scrutiny, and the metal seemed to have been formed in ways that was beyond even master smiths of the current day and age. Despite its excessive size, the blade itself seemed to exude both grace and menace in equal measure. Both the pride and livelihood of the Tehnu people, soulblades were a truly magnificent thing to gaze upon. It was often said that those who died to soulblades were often so entranced by the weapons themselves that they didn't even think to try and defend themselves, and looking at a weapon such as this, one could see why.

Shivali was quick to act, and cut down the first scout headed towards her before he even realised what was happening. She stepped forward to meet him, swinging the blade in a wide arc with both hands. She felt no resistance other than the slightest of tugs as the soulblade passed through the scout's chest, but the effect of its passing was instant. While it left no visible marks on his body, the scout dropped instantly - his eyes burning and shrivelling in his skull. Dead, without a doubt.

The entire process, summoning and attack both, had taken no more than a few seconds in total. She wasted no time in confirming her kill, turning her attention to the second scout immediately. With another stroke she dropped this one too, cutting him down just as easily as the first. In a mere instant, she had killed both of the scouts, and done so without so much as flinching. She regarded their bodies only briefly, before promptly turning her attention back to the open area laid out before her. She did not dismiss the blade - Shivali knew that she might need its assistance again, and while summoning it was a quick enough process, even just a few seconds could make all the difference in a fight.

The words that followed were unexpected, but not as much of a surprise as the beast's appearance itself. Weighing up her options rather quickly, Shivali would make the obvious decision. She would step from the shadows and out into the opening good and proper, soulblade gripped in one hand. She held the blade out by her side as she walked, tilted at an angle to avoid the tip digging into the ground. She would walk forward until there were only a few metres between the two of them, at which point she would come to a stop, before raising the blade and resting it atop one of her shoulders. It was hard to make a soulblade look unthreatening, but this was the best way she could both showcase the thing while remaining as close to physically relaxed as possible. At the very least, she was clearly not in a combat stance, so hopefully that would be enough to keep the princess' drones pacified for the time being.

"A pleasure you meet you, Nekorian. Can't say I've ever had the pleasure of getting to chat civilly with one of your like before. That said, I can't say I've ever seen any of your kind turn against each other like that, either, so I suppose there are an awful lot of firsts happening tonight" Shivali would offer. She nodded to the other as she spoke, in some form of simplistic greeting, but a wry smile flickered across her features throughout. Fighting whatever it was she had just seen was a daunting prospect, and whilst Shivali was confident in her own strength, she would rather not test herself against such a thing if not totally necessary. There was no certainty that she would be able to come out on top, after all, and now the thing knew she was here, she had lost the advantage of surprise. Still, since the voice had informed her that she merely wished to talk, Shivali was more than happy to oblige. Hopefully such proved to be the truth.

"You wished to speak to me?" she would add after just a brief pause, tilting her head briefly as she fixed the Nekorian with her gaze. No-nonsense and straight to the point, as was common for the Tehnu woman. Given their current situation, there was little she could do but wait and see what it was that the other had to say.

Christina cocked her head to one side as she listened to the stranger speak. "You're a Tehnu correct? How funny, that we would meet one." Christina continued to lean on the cane as she walked over to the Tehnu. She was more curious as she was looking at the sword with eyes of interest. "Our kind isn't necessarily against each other. My father wants me to do certain things and I don't want to do them. I ran away and he sent the special forces to bring me back home before I get myself killed. Though all it served to do was, in fact, kill some of them, critically injure others, and knock out a few more. Though I guess this encounter them does mean I'll have a few days of rest."

She went to continue speaking but her ears twitched for a moment. Sounds, people, they were probably guards coming to investigate the sound they heard. "Come Tehnu, the humans are coming to investigate. It's better if they don't know that we... I... am here. That is unless you want to see him again." She said with amusement in her voice before she started to walk in a direction that was opposite of the approaching humans. The bodies did quick work to her appearance though. Her ears and tail disappeared and she took the hood of her cloak, putting it on top of her head to hide more of her features. Now she simply looked like some short traveler. That was something else Christina had noticed about her guest, she was tall... Really tall. She chuckled slightly under her breath at the thought. She might not actually be tall since she, herself, was actually just short.

Assuming that the Tehnu would give chase though, she walked through the different alleyways while still talking to her guest. "Anyways yes I want to talk to you. More specifically I am in need of your services, temporarily that is." She wasn't putting her weight on the cane anymore, even though it hurt a lot not to. Instead, now she twirled the cane through the air around her fingers in a circle over and over again. "The reason is that fighting uses a lot of my energy and he uses, even more, energy than I have to use sometimes. I also prefer to not fight if possible anyways, so my request is to protect me while I travel. Obviously, I have to constantly be on the move since I am always being hunted. One day in each town is what I am allowed. Which means besides protecting myself, resting, consuming food and drinks, I have little time for my real mission!" She turned around at the last part quickly with a huge smile on her face. "To enjoy all the different things life has to offer me!"

Shivali remained largely motionless as the stranger began to speak, though she did nod in simple acknowledgement as the other made a simple observation about her race. Similarly, the woman did not seem put out in the slightest as the other decided to approach, slowly and steadily closing the remainder of the gap between them. She simply listened in relative silence, a small smile curling at the edges of her lips as she listened to the explanation that the stranger had decided to give her about their current situation. At one point she did open her mouth to reply, only to be interrupted by the Nekorian announcing that there were others approaching. Shivali heard nothing, but she decided to comply, as the stranger's hearing was likely better than her own.

Without so much as hesitating, the Tehnu woman would set off after the stranger as she picked another alleyway seemingly at random, quickly falling into step beside her. Shivali would finally take it upon herself to dismiss her blade now, too, since it seemed that she had already committed to this venture. She would raise the thing off her shoulder, before simply opening her hand. Almost instantly, the entire blade dispersed back into mist, which quickly scattered and disappeared from sight. Whilst the blade was physically gone, however, Shivali could still feel its presence lingering at the fringes of her mental perception, ready to return the instant its owner called.

"Well, you certainly speak like a politician, talking around and around in circles like that before finally deciding to get to the point" the Tehnu woman finally replied. Far from annoyed, however, she sounded thoroughly amused by the observation. Indeed, her wolfish smile seemed to have grown just a fraction throughout the earlier stages of their conversation. It was at about this time that Shivali decided to keep her own goals and mission hidden, since it seemed that the Nekorian's desires aligned with them...well, to an extent, at the very least. Better to let the girl think that Shivali was doing her a favour for the time being.

"If the other Nekorians want you back, then that's reason enough for me to assist you. Simply denying them their wishes is enough of a reason in and of itself. All the better if I get to kill a few in the process" she said out loud, talking through her own thought process as much as she was speaking to the other person. After a few moments, the Tehnu woman would give a bit of a casual shrug - it seemed a stark contrast to the childlike demeanour of her new travelling companion, but such was simply the way of things.

"Very well. Consider me your sword and shield...for the time being, at least" the woman would finally offer, face blossoming into a full grin now that their deal had been struck. She would continue to stroll along idly as she glanced across at her new friend, taking in the sight of them with a little more attentiveness now. The sudden absence of her race's identifying features was somewhat strange, but hardly the most unsettling thing that she had seen tonight.

"I'm Shivali" she would offer rather simply, giving her name rather plainly and straightforwardly, as was only polite. She refrained from using the formal greeting methods of her people, opting to use human ones instead, as she doubted the other would be able to make sense of the Tehnu customs. Regardless, from there she would simply wait for the other to return the gesture. They had to start somewhere, after all.

Christina turned around as her new companion started to talk. She bent forward some as she looked at her new friend. "Shivali... Hmmm... My name is Christina, Princess of the Nekorians, and the next in line to rule. You won't regret deciding to be my friend, especially once I rule my people. My father wants to destroy you and enslave the humans again. I don't agree with his policy though. I believe in ruling over the humans like my empire does now, from the shadows, but not to make them slaves. In fact, I hope to one day return my people to the light, where the humans can learn to not fear us and love us. As for your people... Well, I don't wish to destroy your race, but I'm certainly not afraid of war if the need arises. Hopefully, once I rule there will be peace and cooperation among our people. Like there is between the two of us." Christina closed her eyes happily before turning back around to start moving again.

She looked up the sky for a moment, thinking about what to do. "Even though the agents have been taken down, we can't stay here in this town. My kingdom is to the northeast, my plan is to head southwest to a kingdom of humans. There I will catch a harbor town and take a ship to another continent. There on that continent, I will live my life as I see fit, train my weapon, have fun, recruit those who are like me and wish to see peace. We have had Nerokians leave our empire to the other continent, wanting more than what we could offer. I could never understand what they meant before, but that changed recently. Now, using the aid of some retired agents who are loyal to me, I have the means to find those who left." She turned a few more corners until she found herself at the edge of the town.

A sprawling forest lay in front of her, heading in the southwestern direction. "I hear the next town has literally the best pancakes ever. There's just a stack of them just covered in all the works!" She said with an amused purrr at the thought.

A dry chuckle escaped Shivali as the Nekorian she now knew as Christina gave her own little introduction, alongside a rather extensive rundown of the current situation her family was in, and her own personal beliefs. She was rather surprised by the sudden outpouring, but the Tehnu warrior was not going to complain. It would allow her to better understand her new travelling companion, and her ideals did seem preferable when compared to those of her father - assuming the girl was telling the truth, at the least. She had no real reason not to trust Christina, though it seemed only natural to hold some suspicions when dealing with a member of the race you were technically at war with.

"A rather extensive list, princess...and a rather optimistic one too, at that" she would offer as their little duo came to the outer edge of the town, smile fading briefly as she considered what it was that the other proposed. While she had seemed to have some idea as to what she was doing at first, the comment about pancakes seemed a little...out of place. It made Christina a hard one to judge, all in all, the way she seemed to swing wildly between noble woman and child like that.

"Its as good a plan as any, I suppose. Still, I hardly think your father would let you go so easily. If things start to get too hot, though, we can always head back to my homeland. Your father wouldn't be able to reach you there, and the other Tehnu people wouldn't dare raise a sword against you if you arrived under the protection of one of their own" she offered nonchalantly as the two slowly wound their way out of the city limits and onto the open road beyond.

"In any case, I doubt that we'll reach the next city tonight, unless its a lot closer than I imagined. Do you plan on marching through the night, or are we going to find somewhere to camp once we put enough distance between ourselves and this place?" she questioned throwing a questioning glance down at Christina as the two of them continued to walk along at a decent pace. The Tehnu woman felt she probably could force a march that long, if necessary, but her shorter companion was another matter entirely - especially if she had already spent a large portion of the day running and fighting.

"Mmm on my current level of energy, I will have to rest after an hour. At the very least though, it will serve to put some distance between me and those loyal to my father." She continued to walk with her new companion. "I don't think going to your land would be a good idea though. After all, the power I hold, if it accidentally goes wrong, it could make your people so angry that the war gets even worse. Not to mention, just knowing that I would be going there would bring my people to your doorstep. No matter who wins, my people will suffer heavy casualties which isn't what I want." She nodded her head as she spoke as if confirming what she was saying.

"At least if I go to the other continent, searching for me will become much harder since they won't know exactly which port I will be heading to. Not to mention, the retired agent who is loyal to me, only gave me a map showing different landing locations that could be used instead of ports, so not even he will know where I'm landing if the information is tortured from him." She said with a sly smile as she continued to walk leisurely with her hands behind her.

As they continued to walk, She could start to feel the drain of energy kick in. She looked around the area and saw a sort of grove in the forest that was a small sort of clearing. She quickly ran over to it before running through the open part of the grove. She took a dead stop in the center of it and did a quick 360 as she scanned the area quickly. "This will work!" She said with a smile. She let herself fall back onto the ground. As she laid on her back she thought of a few important things to tell her new companion. "Tonight, I must ask that you stay one meter away from me in any direction. I wouldn't want my new friend to be killed during the night because my body is healing." As she said that, the reason why started to become slightly more clear. In a circle around her with the radius of the circle being one meter, the grass quickly turned a lightish brown as a small blanket almost formed out of the air covering most of her body except her head. "By morning, this circle will simply be black charred like earth. I would hate for you to be accidentally included in that." She said with a small giggle.

A small frown would flicker across the Tehnu woman's features as she listened to the plan that her new charge had formulated, but she decided to avoid pushing the issue. Shivali herself was eager to head back to her homeland, as such was her overall objective. Christina's plan, however, was well thought out enough to boast some level of merit. It would take longer, but perhaps it would be better for her to simply play along for the time being. It would allow her a chance to gain the other girl's trust, learn more about her peculiar abilities, and just make it easier to convince her in the future regardless. She would have to find a way to let the rest of her tribe know regardless, but there was plenty of time before that would become a major issue.

Such was her mindset as they marched on in silence, putting as much distance between the two of them and the city as possible, until they came across he small grove where her new declared that they stop for the night. Not opposed to this plan in the slightest, the woman would nod briefly, though she would raise an eyebrow at the process her companion described concerning her recovery abilities and what they necessitated. Regardless, she was quick to remove her pack, dropping it down inside the perimeter of the grove, before moving towards the outskirts. She would take a seat there, facing outwards, with both of her legs crossed. Hopefully it would prove a safe enough distance to avoid coming to any harm from the process Christina described.

"Do whatever you must to recover. I shall sit here and meditate, so that I might keep watch while you rest" she offered, not bothering to do so much as glance back over her shoulder at the Nekorian as she spoke. She trusted that the girl would hear. "My kind can go without sleep for extended periods of time if given the opportunity to meditate instead. Its not exactly restful, but allows us to conserve energy whilst keeping our ears open. Should any of your father's soldiers try and come after us, I will know far enough in advance for us to prepare a hasty defence" she offered rather simply, placing both of her hands on her knees. She maintained near-perfect posture without, sitting with her back straight and her shoulders pulled back. "You have no cause for concern with a Tehnu on guard duty"

"I may have no cause for concern, but I do have reason to fear. I do not believe you will try to kill me in my sleep, but I can not say the same for my abilities." Truth be told, there was plenty of reason for her bodies to not trust the Tehnu. They were an old weapon, something that went from each chosen host to the next. Sometimes it would only be a few decades before a new host was chosen, or it would be centuries before a new host was found. At first, she didn't realize just how intelligent the bodies actually were. In the first stage, they could only communicate through feelings and memories. The second stage they could talk and in the third stage, which she had only done once before successfully, they could communicate in much stranger ways. A way that only required them to touch a being, not to even use verbal communication. The first stage was how she did most of her communicating with them though. They had shown her the chosen that came before her, mainly, her mother.

It was important to her because her mother died shortly after she was born. She never knew why or how. Even now the memories that the bodies could show her weren't capable of showing her death. Not yet at least. She had figured out that the stronger she got, the stronger her connection, control, and sort of fusing with the bodies got. As those got stronger, she would gain more access to the memories that had locked within. She did know that something had happened to her mother and that she herself was born in a way that was considered very strange. "Goodnight my friend." Was all she said as she finally allowed herself to drift off to sleep.
