Personality: Drake has a tendency to be very short tempered and never had a knack for patience. He can be extremely stubborn if he thinks he's right, but he never puts his own beliefs before the safety of others. He's steadfast when committing to something and will apologize if he's wrong, but be prepared for gloating if he does happen to be right. Drake can be strategic, but often opts for fighting first and asking questions later if it's a life or death situation. He's hard to get along with, but once you befriend him, he isn't likely to let you down in the end.

Gray guards are less restrained by their knightly vows, doing what must be done, no matter how unpleasant.

Now, this still does not mean they can do direct evil lie, harming an innocent (that they are sure is innocent, no slaughtering children), but...anything goes, really. Lying, cheating, torturing, going full on punisher/batman to nab the guy and cut his head off.

Cfavano, I like the premise, but would they have a reason for finding the lake? It's cool if so, you don't need to tell me if you don't want to, but yeah, they gotta have a good reason for wanting to find it other than 'it's the right thing to do'

Also, sounds like this sort of knighthood would be associated to a faction of sorts? A country, a family, etc. This what you're thinkin? :0

Name: Lazarus the Hollow

Age: Looks to be just about a thousand years old, maybe more

There's almost no way to tell Lazarus apart from the usual desiccated corpse in the deserts of Moshuar apart from the fact that he's moving around while his less animated counterparts are, well, dead. He dons a heavy cloak that covers most of his body, but still gives him enough mobility to go about, as well as a small cap that looks almost as old as he does. His skin looks and feels rough and hard to the touch, but also sort of crisp, like old wood, which makes his face passable as "just a mask".

Under the cloak, he wears a simple bronze-colored breastplate with greaves, and under that, a ragged tunic and matching pants, very obviously patched up time and time again. Whatever rips and tears that remain unstitched reveal sections of his body that are heavily, but somehow not professionally wrapped in bandages that have slightly browned with age.

On his back he carries a small quiver, along with a rucksack and water canteen. His bow is always either strung across his back as well, or simply held in his hand and used as a walking cane. Like much of his belongings, his bow comes off as quite odd as well. It sounds and looks just about ready to snap like a twig, and yet it somehow gives off the feeling that it requires good strength to wield. Streaks of dried red sap go along the entirety of its length.

Lazarus comes off as very non-confrontational and antisocial. He spends most of his time camping out in the deserts and living off the land. Given the nature of his appearance, most people tend to avoid him, and likewise, he tends to avoid most people. When he does speak, though, it becomes apparent that he shows no real fear of interacting with others, only a genuine disinterest. In fact, it could even be said that he speaks in an almost confident and clear manner, save for the lack of manners and monotone. He picks his words carefully and tries his best to avoid any conflicts, but always remains on edge, as if to warn that he can and will become hostile if things turn sour.

Living mostly alone in the wilderness gave Lazarus a taste for the simpler things in life. He's not one to shy away from getting down and dirty if he needs to, whether it be sleeping on the dirt, eating strange meats and plants, or even crawling through muck. This goes for his morals as well. Lazarus is willing to do less-than-moral acts in order to survive or to get what he wants. He often loots corpses and caravan wrecks, but only ever keeps what he needs. The rest is sold for coin, which is then spent on more necessities. All in all, Lazarus has a very bare-bones approach to life, much like his own appearance.

Spoiler: Backstory 

There's not really much to say about Lazarus' backstory. When pried for answers, all he says is "What can I say? I was young, I raided one tomb too many, some old spirit got all pissy, and poof, now I look like a dead man."

Beyond those words, he hides a strange past. He was a bandit, a grave robber. Born into less-than-decent conditions, he got with the bad crowd. Tomb raiding gave quite a bit of coin, despite its dangers. One day, though, his little band hit the motherlode: an ancient mausoleum half-sunk into the sand in the middle of what seemed to be nowhere. They headed inside and ignored the warnings on the walls, looting anything shiny and within reach. The real kicker was when they found the coffin. Eagerly, they opened it with crude tools, expecting riches. What they found instead was an angry djinn who showed them no mercy. Each of them were cursed with an ancient disease lost to history that made their flesh look rotten and dried, "like your wretched souls", so the djinn said. With a flash of blinding green light, the band was cast out back into the wastes, and the ancient tomb sank into the sands, never to be seen again.

Since that fateful day, he was cast out of society itself, driven away from every town and treated like untouchables or bad omens. Over time, angry mobs, infighting, and the harsh desert wastes whittled down his group of bandits until it was just him left. By that time, people eventually became more lenient towards him, seeing as he never actually made any real trouble. They still remained very much wary, though, and he was still barred from all but the shadiest of settlements. His strange appearance also made him some sort of minor urban legend in some circles of Moshuar as well. Ask around the caravansaries or taverns and you'll possibly hear some talk about "the hollowed man" or "the deadwalker"

He embarks on his quest to find the lakes since he remembered one important fact about his seemingly dream-like encounter with the djinn. His curse was not purely a magical one, it was a disease. Certainly not one any back-alley physicians have heard of, let alone treat. If anything was going to break this curse, it would most definitely have to be that fabled lake. Not that he's sure if it'll do the job, nor does he fully believe it even exists, but it's his best bet. If anything it'll be a quaint little adventure before he goes from looking like a corpse to actually being a corpse.
