About:
'Dare' is an example of interbreeding between humans and magical beings. Those of his type have been seen in the distant past and provided the basis of many legends, but have been exceedingly rare since. Dare himself is tight lipped about his lineage. His mother is known to be Aoife Mac Giolla Bháin, an accomplished Witch and Rainfords Alumni. Operating primarily in rural Ireland and the Scottish Highlands, it is suspected she became entwined with an old power hidden in the region, resulting in Dare.

Dare applied to Rainfords at her behest. The boy, while friendly and attentive to his studies, has continually struggled to maintain acceptable grades and standards of conduct. He excels in subjects such as Rune Reading, Herbology, and Astronomy with innate talent, but suffers abysmally in any subject confined to an indoors lecture hall or classroom space. He has displayed immense magical potential along similar lines, excelling in nature based and intuitive magics while failing miserably in subjects requiring intense concentration and reading. Combined with the troubles surrounding the uncontrollable leak of his powers into his surroundings, Dare has come close to expulsion several times. He has been retained as a student primarily because of his boundless enthusiasm, genuine positive intent, and the need to bring his currently unrestrained powers under reign, lest it damage wider society.

Other:
Dare's innate druidic powers make him highly attractive to animal familiars and plant life. He returns home for one week each April, tied to the height of Spring, when this attraction grows strong enough to potentially influence students and faculty. A close eye must likewise be kept on him during the months of December and January, when he suffers bouts of narcolepsy and otherwise displays an uncharacteristically depressive demeanor.

They got into a fight three years ago which ended in Ferit setting Dare's tail on fire. They avoid each other now.

They were room mates last year. Not friends exactly, but Dare likes him well enough.

Not much interaction, Dare is creeped out by her fire powers.

Probably Dare's best friend. Mateo rescued Dare when he had a narcoleptic fit and they've been friends ever since.

Tanner
Tanner and Dare are pretty good friends, enough to sit together in classes and hang out otherwise.

Cody
Dare has an uber-crush on Cody due to her embracing her sylph heritage and common cultural bonds. She likely doesn't talk to him after he traumatized one of her (possible) friends by accident.

Higurashi, great sheet!! Accepted! I feel like he and Mat would be chums, what with being pals and all.

Gonna start workin on a IC but some questions before I do,

Firstly I'm gonna update the Character sheet with a Birthplace/Home Country section just so we can have a little bit of context on where characters have come from exactly.

Secondly, anyone want any teacher spots just on the sly?? It doesn't matter if not but thought I'd ask before i have to start making up personas or whatever.

Third is a bit of a big one.
I've been thinking, depeneding on what people think/want with their characters, we could go two ways with this. We could start the IC in the fifth year with them all being 15/16 in age. OR if we wanted to go sorta mega with this, we could all start in in the first year?? Start from scratch sort of thing??

Glad that you liked it! I'm fond of Celtic and Gaelic mythology, which influenced Dare (though fauns and satyr are more of a Southern European myth to my knowledge). I could see him and Matt getting into mischievous (but not malicious) hi-jinks, though there might be trouble if Matt were to shift into an animal form in his presence.

Personally, the type of character I'm wanting to play falls more into the mid/late teens, so I'd vote for them all being fifth year students.
