I can accept thisName: Malina Kagul
Age: 28
Gender: Female
Race: Dark Valkyrie (with dragon blood)
Spoiler: Picture
Appearance: Malina stands at 5'10” with long legs that stride with pure confidence. She has the body of a well defined women, curves in all the right places, and muscles to make sure all know she is no damsel in distress. She has a small face, no sharp jaw line, and a petite nose that seems to add more definition to her plump lips. She has broad shoulders, that have spent countless hours wearing the armor that protects her. A necklace made of iron, wraps around her neck. Her flat stomach shows her toned muscles beneath, a slender waist that holds the belt/skirt of her armor. She tends to be seen wearing the corset armor, and though it may not seem all that sturdy, it was made from dragon skin, so the mere blade would not penetrate it. She wears gauntlets that cover her forearms, but gives her wrist and hands completely free movement. Boots seem to travel all the way from her small feet to the middle of her thigh, giving her a lethal prowl.
Distinctive Features: Black wings that she often keeps tucked behind her, to have them is in some eyes magic in of itself...when she wraps them around herself (or whoever is within her arms reach), they have protection for magic. Luckily, she has not had to use them for a while, and every now and then, if the air was right, you would often see her soar from the top of the castle to the empty embankment below. No one is really sure where the 2 sharp, ragged horns came from...some whispers say she was born with parents of both light and dark magic...and she was nothing more than an abomination. But in truth, it was the only physical aspect her father passed down to her.
Fighting Style: Of course she is well equipped with every type of martial arts knowledge known to them, no training is too good for King Nero's Royal Guard to know. She tends to lead more to mercy than killing, but when it comes down to her life or the life of another, she will chose herself. If she finds a way to apprehend the defendant, and knocks them out long enough to get them to the dungeons, she will, but make no mistake...killing is in her nature.
Weapons: A long sword that she keeps at her side at all times, the hilt made of iron and dragon scales, a ruby gem embedded at the very hilt, marking the sword as not only hers, but a family heirloom, it was the only piece of her family she holds, and she protects the sword as much as the sword is used to protect her. The tips of her boots are also made of iron, and a small dagger would protrude if need be, a simple kick to the heel would dislodge the blades.
Abilities: Malina can fly, but that does not mean she spends her days in the skies, matter of fact, she only flies at night, when most of the city slumbers, and no one is around to see her. She tends to keep that part of her life hidden...after all...not everyone can fly, so one might assume that flying in of itself would be considered magical.
Her other dark secret is she does know a thing or two about magic abilities. She was taught from an early age about honing in our her ancestral powers. She has been able to completely control fire, and conjure it within her palm and feel no paid, and able to bend shadows to her will. If she needs an area darkened, the shadows will come out from hiding and do as she commands. She can not “create” shadows...simple use the ones around her. (i.e. if the area is too large and not enough shadows around to cover it, there will be parts within the area that is not covered in shadows).
Personality: Malina tends to be seen as quite, she keeps to the shadows, and speaks only when needed. She is always seen within feet of the King, even when the King retires to bed, she is there watching over him until the night guard comes. When she does speak, her voice is like velvet fire, it burns in the most purest of ways. She is calm, and normally keeps her anger and temper in check. Only a hand few times in her life has she snapped out of character, and she has learned from those mistakes. Most men in the guard see her as nothing more than a woman...a female in a male world. Of course they would never share those same thoughts and feelings in front of the King. When the King is around, they “respect” Malina only because of fear.
The only solace in this thing she calls a life, is in the form of the Head Cook, a chef by the name of Ruby. A woman in her later part of her life, an ever blessing, that seems to be the only thing that sends a smile to Malina's face. It is with Ruby, that she some times acts like a child, and make jokes, and laugh. She knew that if this woman ever ceased to be in her life, Malina would surly become the dark soul she fears she would become.
Bio: It was a beautiful day when the wold welcomed Malina. The doves flew about the room, while the gryphons soared beside the dragons. Peace was a thing of life, and nothing was out of place. A dark half dragon by the name of Alric Kagul, Head Guard to the old King, knelt by the bed he wife laid upon, constantly brushing the cool cloth against her forehead. The only distinct markings that made him known as half dragon, were the translucent markings along his skin.
Spoiler: Alric's pastDuring a battle, years ago, Alric was gravely wounded. The old King didn't want to see his trusted friend and Royal Guard perish, so he got the best wizards in the land to do whatever magic needed to save his life. The wizards told the old King that they were working on experimental treatments; to transfuse dragon blood within the patient. So far, nearly every attempt failed. Either the mind wouldn't with stand the mental confusion of the blood, or the body was too weak to except the physical changes that would take place.
The old King begged, and so they did. It was a painful process; months of transfusing small doses at a time, agony watching his friend scream in pain...but it worked! He awoke stronger than ever, with eye sight and speed increased. He was back, alive, and better than before.
Tears of complete joy fell from their eyes. Life was now finally perfect. Magda, a beautiful white Valkyrie and Alric's wife and mother to Malina, held her infant as she sobbed...how many times have they tried and failed? She couldn't count...she didn't want to think of the past, the future was now looking bright.
Malina was barely 5 years old when the war broke out, her father, a distant memory, and shadowy figure passed before she was even able to fly. Her mother kept her safe within the walls of the castle, praying that the old King would win...there was nothing she could do to bring back her souls' other half. When news reached the Kingdom that the old King had fallen, and the Queen was now their ruler, Magda wept as she held her child. There was no denying the fact that she was the child's mother...however, she might be able to hold back the truth that the father was a dragon-kin. When the Queen returned to the castle to take ownership, and started to take the life of all those with known magical abilities, Magda pleaded to the Queen, begging her life for the child's. And when a promise was made to a Valkyrie, to go against the promise would be a curse that no amount of magic in the lands could cure.
The Queen made the promise that she, nor have anyone she knew personally, would take the life of the child. Magda told her, that if she betrayed this bargain, she would surly lose the throne, and those who hid, those who still held on to their magical roots, would bring a reign of terror to the Queen.
With the truce spoke, the queen quickly killed Magda, right before Malina's eyes. She didn't cry, nor scream, she merely tilted her head as she watched her mother lay on the floor, motionless. Ruby, years younger, and lowly kitchen servant at the time, came to the child and took her to the kitchen, where she was told to figure out how to get rid of the child, with no harm coming to the Queen, after all, the Queen could not have anything to do with the death of the child.
With this, Ruby took the child to King Nero, and pleaded that he would allow her to be raised within his walls, to live life to the fullest. King Nero was very hesitate; to go against the Queen's wishes right as she took reign, would mean certain death to him. But because of the brother hood that he and Alric shared...the bond they held...the life debt...he couldn't count how many times Alric saved his life, he allowed it.
Ruby returned to her place, and rose to head chef through the years, but secretly went back to King Nero's land, telling the Queen of a special herb she needed that could only be bought in his land. She wanted badly to stay with King Nero, and he even offered...but to make the child “vanish” and her as well, the Queen would certainly know something was afoul.
For the better part of Malina's life, she knew Ruby as only her mother, and when Ruby thought she was strong enough to hear the truth, she was told. Anger filled her heart, a darkness that threatened the very kindness that was her soul. Ruby told her to still her anger, that it would only bring about death, and destruction to all Malina loved. This hatred, this revenge that fueled her, was the reason she fought hard to become King Nero's Royal Guard. She made her way through the ranks, fought men twice her size, and rose through the ranks to become his personal guard. He knew of her parent's lineage, he fought beside Alric and the old King in battles, he knew who she was. But as long as she never over stepped her bonds with magic, made certain to keep it hidden from others, and only use it for healing or protection purposes, he let her live within his walls, and stay by his side.
