    Default The Voyage (M) (OOC)

Rated M for violence and language.

It is 1930. A voyage is being set out from a port in the Eastern edge of the human lands. Their destination? East, into the unknown. Lands only loosely charted by human ships. Lands of mystery, magic, and danger.

Brought from all corners of the human nations, sailors were promised handsome payment and adventure to go on this expedition. And a payment to their families, if they did not come back. A bad omen for the voyage, as this would only be offered if the journey were dangerous. However, many still flock to this voyage, as times are tough. War veterans, unemployed factory workers, farmers fleeing economic disaster, bored sailors, and a few adventurers all sign on for the journey, each for their own reasons.

The why and the where of the journey are left out, the man who organized the voyage being rather secretive. But all who come know that danger and adventure await.

You come to the port, for your own reasons, and sign aboard the voyage. You are asked by the crewmen when you arrive two questions. Have you ever been to sea before? And do you know how to fire a rifle? Even those who answer no to both questions are brought aboard however. You fill out a short form, and then you are warned that the journey will be very dangerous, and once the ships set sail there will be no turning back. If you still agree to go, 100$ are then placed into your hand, and you are shoved on board the ship and assigned your duties.

Then, the voyage sets sail, into the unknown.

Hello all and welcome to The Voyage. The basic idea of this is in an industrial-fantasy setting, a voyage travels to various islands in an unknown mission, each island presenting a new environment, creatures, and challenges.

I will be pulling a lot of creatures from the Dungeons and Dragons monster manuals, because I thought it had a lot of really interesting creatures that I was never going to get to use, but many will be changed to my will for this RP, and there will be other creatures as well.

I'm looking for 2-3 other people for this. Feel free to play multiple characters. If you have any questions or are interested, let me know!

There's a black crow sitting across from me
    His wiry legs are crossed
He's dangling my keys, he even fakes a toss
    Whatever could it be
That has brought me to this loss?

Getting some slight Arrowsmith vibes from this, which is definitely a good thing!

I had no idea what that was and had to look it up, but I'll have to read it! I like sci-fii and journey stories, so thanks!

I was more referencing the fantasy comics 'Arrowsmith' set in a WW1 where magic exists.

Looks like you've got an awesome roleplay started, Tranor!! If you would like to advertise for more members, here are some ways to do so!

First off, there's the Roleplay of the Week. This is displayed on the website's home page as well as on the side bar of the forum. If you think it might help then we implore you to do so! We are always looking for new RP's to advertise. (No, really. We are. Always.) If you would like a little bit more information, or even an example, you can view that here.

One of the requirements for a RP of the Week submission is that you have a banner. If you're not artistically inclined, however, do not fear! We have several amazing artists on the site who will make one for you. Simply post here.

Next, you can post in this thread and the staff will display your role-play in their signatures.

Also feel free to post in the Roleplay Directory. This is a thread that anyone can view at any time to see roleplays that are currently seeking and accepting members.

Haha, whoops. Although that actually looks really good, I've started reading comics of late so I'll have to try to get my hands on it.

    And also, thanks Scottie!

Looks great. I'll finish up a few more things, and then get the IC up and we can get started.
