Name and Title: Quintus Linus Venturius (Commander Venturius, as he is formally known, or Quint as he is informally known.)
Sex/Gender: Male
Species: Human (Ruiliran)
Birthplace: Ruilira
Homeland: Ruilira
Age:
Personality: Quint’s personality vastly differs depending on who you ask. As Commander Venturius, he is a harsh, intimidating, no-nonsense individual with a strong sense of honour and duty. As a Commander, he is deadly serious and seemingly without a sense of humour. As a friend, however, he is considerably more good-natured, brotherly, hardly ever seems to take anything seriously, and is generally really fun to be around. On his downtime, he likes to drink, joke around and just kick back and relax, seeming for all the world as if he is the exact opposite to his demeanour when he is on duty.
Weapon(s): Steel Shortsword, Steel Shield and Steel Battleaxe (Battleaxe can only be wielded with two hands)
Motivation for Joining the Quest: Quint is the commander of the Crown Prince’s personal bodyguards and also the Prince’s childhood friend. He is in charge of twenty elite troops who he and the Prince both handpicked and are, in turn, high-ranking officers in the Empire’s military. Yet on that faithful night they still failed to prevent the kidnapping. Naturally, first and foremost, the desire to save his friend is what motivates him. However, shame, embarrassment and guilt are also a prevalent driving force.
Appearance:
(Note: The above image
not his official raiment, it is more representative of how he will look throughout the majority of the RP. Whilst attending to official and/or ceremonial duties within the capital, he wears an immaculate set of armour more befitting of his title. Somewhat similar to
THIS, the key differences are that the Ruiliran Coat of Arms is gilded onto the shield and also emblazoned on the back of his cape. The crest on top of his helmet is also shorter, the red hair only reaching as far as the gold trimming seen in the image.)
Quint is a rugged, broadly-built man who stands at just over six foot in height. He has long, black curly hair (his curls are rather loose, making his hair look wavy) that reaches his shoulders, and a moderately neatly trimmed beard. His eyes are dark brown, almost black, and his complexion is somewhat tanned. A rather distracting feature is the scar running diagonally across his face, starting from near his right temple and ending halfway down his left cheek.

Backstory:
Quintus Linus Venturius, son of Caletus Falerius Venturius (Father) and Loreia Caeliana Venturius (Mother), was born in the Imperial Capital Ruilira. His father is the Commander of the Imperial Guard and his mother is a Midwife. It has been a longstanding tradition, for many generations in the Venturius family, that the matriarch of the family be the sworn protector to the Imperial throne. As such, it was already predetermined that Quintus would befriend the young Prince and, when they were older, be his sword protector.
Quintus wasn't overly happy at first. To begin with, he didn't really like the Prince. With Quintus being the older child by a couple of years, he thought the Prince was rather bratty and annoying. But, as they grew up, they came to see each other as brothers. Quintus had no other siblings, so he liked to think of the Prince as his younger brother, despite the fact that he had no royal title himself. Once he was in his teens, Quintus was enrolled at the military academy. He already had a head start compared to most others as his father had drilled him in the art of fighting, and the disciplines that would be expected of him in the military, from a very young age.
After spending a few years in training, and undertaking various duties on patrol, night watches, security detail, along with more menial military duties, he was eventually assigned to the Royal Guard. Specifically, the detachment that was tasked with protecting the Crown Prince. It would be a while yet before he rose to the rank of Commander, but his new post was enjoyable. He got to travel to other countries, was always in good company (the unit was almost like a family) and it gave him a sense of accomplishment in that he was treading in the footsteps of his father.
Over the following years, he was almost constantly glued to the Prince's hip. This, of course, meant that he got to witness (and tease about) the budding romance that was blossoming between the Ruiliran Prince and a Princess from the Kingdom of Kem. Many trips between the two nations were undertaken, all of which Quintus was on guard duty for. Eventually, Quintus was promoted to Commander and took charge of the detachment that was assigned to the Prince and, by extension, the troops whom they commanded.
Life was good. Right up until the eve of the wedding.
He had no idea how it had happened, but he, the Prince, and several other close friends were celebrating. There were only a couple of guards watching over them, which was fine, Quintus had reasoned, as he was there and, although he was not officially on duty, he intended on staying sober so as not to be dealing with a hangover during the ceremony the next day. He had no idea what was slipped into his drink, however, nor by whom, but the next thing he realised was that he was waking up to shouts of alarm and bells ringing to alert the guards posted on the walls that there was an infiltration. The Prince had been kidnapped.
The weight of what had transpired made him buckle. How could this have happened right under his nose? What would the Emperor think? What would his father think? Messengers came bearing the news that the Princess of Kem had also been kidnapped under very similar circumstances. Whoever was behind this had clearly put a lot of thought into staging this. The fact that they had kidnapped, and not assassinated, the royal couple gave hope that there was still a chance to set things right again. His first assumption was that the couple would be held for ransom, but the fact that the kidnapping had occurred within the very walls of Ruirila made this whole thing reek of an underhanded political manoeuvre. Whatever the case, Quintus vowed he would see those responsible be held accountable for their actions.
