150 Years After the Air Nomad Genocide
50 Years After The Hundred Year War

The world has changed. Fifty years ago, the world was torn apart by a century of war. The Fire Nation dominated the world and the only hope appeared as a young Airbender named Aang. History taught that the Avatar was the bridge between this world and the next, the only one with powers enough to bring order and balance into the world. No one imagined the changes the young Avatar would bring, or how drastically he would change the world.

No longer did people live in fear of the Fire Nation, once the largest militant group in the world. Their strength instead has been replaced by the United Forces, military overseers of the United Republic. Avatar Aang and Fire Lord Zuko founded the United Republic with a dream: that benders and non-benders of all nations could live together in peace and harmony.

Avatar Aang spent fifty years still fighting for peace. The Avatar has aged considerably, and whispers of his failing health had begun to circulate among the people of the world. He still made appearances here and there, but he had ended the most devastating war on earth and laid the foundation for peace to come.

At least, he had tried.

Recently, the United Forces have begun to hear word of underground tournaments. Someone out there has been calling upon skilled individuals, hunting for the best fighters. Republic City’s police force have begun to arrest various citizens, benders and non-benders alike, as seemingly random acts of violence have begun to spring up all around the city. The Metal Bending Police Force and elite soldiers from the United Forces have begun to investigate. All over the United Republic, fighters have begun to turn up dead with nothing left with them but a single red lotus.

Meanwhile, the Order of the White Lotus has been receiving news of unrest among its ranks. Members have begun to break free and denounce their oath to protect the Avatar. Unbeknown to the general population, they have been gathering fighters with the promise of a “priceless” grand prize. The Red Lotus has begun to form in the shadows, amassing an army to take down the Avatar for once and for all...

Factions

White Lotus

The once secret society, brought to light by the late General Iroh of the Fire Nation during the last occurrence of Sozin’s Comet. They have always sought out philosophy, beauty, and truth. More recently, however, Avatar Aang appointed the Order of the White Lotus to be the eyes and ears of the world, the force that dealt with the world’s most dangerous threats. They have also been tasked with protecting the Avatar and, after Avatar Aang’s time has passed, to seek out and protect the new Avatar.

Red Lotus

The Red Lotus is a group known only to those who are a part of it. They hide in the shadows, meeting secretly as they plot to end the leaders of the world and reunite the physical and the spirit world. They are members of the White Lotus who have grown tired of being bodyguards, being nothing but the world’s defense. They are a new society with the mission of bringing the world to its knees once again. The Red Lotus has been hosting tournaments to find the best fighters, benders and non-benders alike.

United Forces

The United Forces are the large militant group that protects the United Republic from national threats. They patrol and monitor the nation’s borders and are sent out when threats to the nation appear. The United Forces is comprised of an army, navy, and Air Force. The United Forces is currently led by the young General Iroh, grandson of Fire Lord Zuko, and Commander Bumi, son of Avatar Aang.

Republic City Police / Metalbending Police Force

The group formed by the first metalbender, Toph Bei Fong. Republic City, capital of the United Republic, is protected primarily by its police force, comprised of benders and nonbenders alike. Its most elite force, a group of metalbenders, is run by Chief Bei Fong herself.

3.) No airbenders or playing as the original cast. They’re still alive, and you’re welcome to mention them, but I want us to branch out and create our own awesome gaangs! If you need to RP as one of them briefly, please just run it by me. As long as it’s IC and nothing too outrageous, I’ll probably greenlight it.
4.) All our characters are human, and they will have human emotions and limitations. Godmodding is an absolute no go.
5.) Please allow your character to be reviewed and approved before posting in the IC.
6.) Please, for the love of God, make posts a decent length. Correct grammar and spelling must be used to the best of your ability. If you cannot submit a MINIMUM of two or three paragraphs then this role play is not for you. I love lengthy, interesting posts. The sky is the limit!
7.) I know life gets busy, but I’d like everyone to post at least once or twice a week. If something happens, just reach out and let us know. We’ll make it work. Those who do not will be killed off or otherwise struck from the storyline. Let’s make it to the hall of fame!!!

Kira of the Northern Water Tribe

Spoiler: Kira’s Profile 

Name: Kira
Age: 20
Nationality: Northern Water Tribe
Abilities: Kira is a water bender, born and bred. She can hurt and heal in hundreds of different ways. She was top of her class in the Northern Water Tribe and began tutoring less skilled individuals from a young age. She’d secretly always been curious about bloodbending but never had the guts to try it…

Background: Kira was born from a middle class family. She did not know poverty, but her family did not have much money to spare. The third child of five, she always did what she could to stand out and draw attention to herself, even if that was not always the most positive attention. Her mother, Herra, was one of the tribe’s many healers, though not an extremely powerful or proficient one. Her father, Kai, a non-bender, was a scholar and artist. He was a kind and caring man, but had little drive to work hard to apply himself other than to make sure his children didn’t starve. Much of the money he received went to his collection of ancient and interesting items. His time was often spent playing Pai Sho and talking about things he thought were fascinating.

Kira was one of three benders among her siblings. Her eldest sister, Terra, was not a bender, but she was level headed and quick. She inherited her father’s love for learning and history, choosing to specialize in Water Tribe history. Terra had a special interest in the Avatar and Spirit World, and she would happily regurgitate her most recently acquired information with anyone who would listen. She was also a gifted Pai Sho player.

Her older brother, Koda, was the only boy and he was a strong bender. He had a fiery spirit and often enjoyed playing pranks on people, which Kira enjoyed being a part of. Despite his mischievous misdemeanor, he had a kind heart and usually spent much of his time rectifying his wrongs and helping out the people he may have pulled one on. He worked as an officer for the Tribe to help provide for his family and younger siblings.

Kirara, a twin, was the fourth child, and she had a shy personality. She was the exact opposite of Koda and Kira, preferring to stay away from attention. She was well behaved and quiet, preferring to spend time painting or reading by herself instead of spending time with others.

Hani, Kirara’s identical twin, was the youngest, took most after her mother. She was silly and playful, much preferring to use her waterbending abilities to heal instead of hurt others. She enjoyed using her skills to make ice sculptures, which she has gained some acclaim for despite her young age.

In her family, Kira was quite average, stuck right in the middle of her siblings’ accomplishments and squabbles. While they all seemed to be content with life in the North Pole, Kira always enjoyed hearing tales of the world beyond and craved what it would be like to see the world. As her parents always told her, she could travel on her own once she became of age, and now that she was, Kira was ready to take on the world. Shortly after her 18th birthday, she took off to travel. She spent time in the four old nations before choosing to visit Republic City, where she secretly hoped to become famous for her waterbending abilities.

Personality: Bold and sometimes extremely brash, Kira has a fiery spirit and a fierce determination once she set her mind on something. She feels deeply and sometimes allows her emotions to carry her instead of stepping back to think things through. Kira is prideful and stubborn, much more likely to rise to challenge rather than back down. She was taught good and bad, and will instantly intervene if she spots an act injustice.

Strengths: Kira has spent much time honing her bending abilities. She is equally gifted in healing and fighting. Due to her father’s persistence, she was also trained in using various weapons on the chance that she may need to fight without water. She is perceptive in a fight and though she may not be the strongest, her wits have won her many fights.

Weaknesses: Kira is not a doormat, and her pride allows her to be easily manipulated at times. She has not seen much corruption, and was taught to see the best in people. She has limited experience fighting people who use things other than water and standard weapons.

Affiliations: Northern Water Tribe, Republic City

Looks: Kira is a woman of small stature. She is a bit over five feet tall with tiny frame but strong muscles. She has strength and endurance from training and traveling day in and day out. She has a round face with large, blue eyes. Her brown face is framed by long, dark hair that is usually pulled back into three braids that cascade down the middle of her back.

My idea was recently cleared by Evie, so here we go!

Spoiler: Peleia (WORK IN PROGRESS) 

Name: Peleia

Age: 19

Nationality: Multicultural (Water Tribe & Fire Nation)

Abilities: Said to be the world’s first “double-bender”, Peleia has demonstrated the ability to bend both water and fire, and is a master of both bending arts, including the subdisciplines of bloodbending and lightning generation respectively. Her remarkable mastery of two separate bending arts has been highly controversial for years, leading to a great deal of speculation as to how she managed to accomplish such a feat, or even whether or not her double-bending is a hoax altogether.

Background: The one part about her personal life that Peleia is most open about is her heritage, specifically in that she claims to be the great-granddaughter of Hama, the world’s first blood bender, as well as the granddaughter of a Fire Nation soldier who was reportedly tortured decades ago by Avatar Aang’s wife, Katara, through the use of bloodbending. The latter incident, according to Peleia, went on to haunt her entire family even before Peleia herself was even born. The trauma her grandfather endured, coupled with the subsequent disgrace and hatred that all Fire Nation soldiers inevitably faced in the aftermath of the Hundred Year War, ultimately drove him insane, forcing him to spend the last of his days in an asylum. To make matters worse, his grieving and broken family received no sympathy whatsoever from the rest of the world; Peleia grew up watching as her Fire Nation relatives were shunned and persecuted, while the waterbender responsible for their suffering was praised and adored by the public.
When bloodbending started to become more well-known and Katara subsequently made efforts to ban its practice, the story of her fateful use of bloodbending on Peleia’s grandfather eventually resurfaced. Peleia had hoped that this revelation would finally give her family some form of justice; surely Katara’s use of bloodbending in such a horrific manner would expose her a hypocrite and ruin her reputation. But instead, virtually everyone at the highest levels of government (including Avatar Aang himself) downplayed Katara’s guilt in this regard by emphasizing Katara’s grief for her lost mother and by portraying Peleia’s grandfather as less than innocent in the matter. As a result, Katara’s crime was soon all but forgotten, and despite Katara’s ban on bloodbending eventually being passed, Katara herself never faced any trial or punishment for her own past use of bloodbending.
This was the final straw in Peleia’s eyes, and when the Red Lotus began recruiting fighters and benders to help them take down the Avatar, she did not hesitate to accept their invitation. Not only did Peleia see a perfect opportunity to finally punish Katara for her crime, but she also had no qualms with eliminating Avatar Aang, whom she sees as a corrupt and unfit Avatar who would gladly forsake his duties in the name of his blatant favoritism toward Katara. Unlike the rest of the Red Lotus, however, Peleia has no desire to bring the world to its knees or disrupt the natural order, seeking only to purge the perceived corruption in the current world order rather than destroy said order in its entirety. Consequently, Peleia is one of the Red Lotus' most valuable assets but also one of their most unpredictable agents, though their similar goals at this early stage in the Red Lotus' plans has allowed them to avoid any serious internal conflicts for now.
