The Kingdom of Cydonia, Celestial Year 771
There is great strife and mourning in Cydonia, for the Northern Kingdom has just lost the 17th Monarch. This loss is made worse by the rumors of betrayal, it is well known by this point that the last Monarch has been ruling from their sick bed for some three years. Haven fallen to what seemed to be an unknown disease. They’d been Holding court within their bed chambers, under the watchful eye of a team of Doctors, Alchemist, and Mages. Though this seemed to do little good, their condition slowly deteriorating until finally this past Winter they passed away. Leaving the throne empty, however they didn’t pass without an heir in fact; they had several children. Each capable in their own right, but the duty of rulership like many duties; falls upon the eldest child ( Muse A ).
But it isn’t as simple as taking up the throne, for as ancient Cydonian tradition dictates there are rites of passage that must be seen to. First and foremost being the festival of mourning, a week long event where the capital is filled with the various Jarls, and others of high ranking social status; Guildmasters, Influential Merchants, Entrepreneurs, and Adventurers. Coming to pay their last respects to the deceased Monarch, and make an attempt to befriend the next. Various tournaments and smaller festivals are scattered throughout the capital during the week that allow any and all citizens of Cydonia to partake.
This grand if not macabre festival is capped off by a Grand Tournament where all those of Cydonia blood may test their mettle against the nobility and future ruler; with grand prize being a share of bets made throughout.
That isn’t to say that all is well in the Northern Kingdom, it’s quite the opposite; threats loom on the horizon. The most worrisome being the now swirling rumors of betrayal, though they’ve been sequestered to just within the court people are beginning to believe that the last Monarchs ‘Sickness’ was in actuality the fault of a poison. Dragons have also been spotted, coming down from the World Spire. Making their presence felt throughout Cydonia. And as word would have it, the Imperium is has begun to make moves again. Cydonia being one of the two kingdoms to escape conquest; the other being the Island Nation of Albion. Albion, having been silent for the past two hundred years now calls for Cydonian aid and the renewing of the twin kingdoms defense pact.
But the heir apparent will not need face these challenges alone, for they are accompanied; as is the costume of all Royalty in the Known World by a champion ( Muse B ) one they have known since their childhood, as to how their skills shall aid their lifelong friend remains to be seen. But the time is fast approaching where both the 18th Monarch and their Champion shall be put to the test in the greatest of measures.

‘Welcome to Hell.’ Those were the first words that a recently deceased sinner ( Muse A ) heard upon waking up. They awake to find themselves lacking any memories of the past forty-eight hours. And despite hear someone talking as they stirred to consciousness find that they are alone. At first a state of denial overtakes them, they surely couldn’t be dead, but why couldn't they remember the last two days? Confused and more than a little uneasy they begin to venture out into the are around them, but are cut short by a warning. Turning they are met by a horned individual ( Muse B ); whom introduces themselves as a demon.
They begin to explain that the sinner was most certainly dead, but assures them so long as they stay calm and collect things will turn out alright. Going on to explain, that they’re in an area referred to as the Wasteland and they shouldn’t linger. Making promise to explain things once they’re within the safety of a city and that until the sinners questions were answered nothing bad was going to befall them. But they are quickly beset by the lost residents of the wasteland, as for what will happen after, remains to be seen.
