In an age before the oldest record of humanity, vampires ruled the world. They had a grand civilization that was built on advanced technology and slave labor. Over time though, the humans grew to hate the vampires and formed a holy order that worshipped the sun and eventually declared war on the vampires. At first, it seemed like there was no way the vampires could lose the war but over time they started to lose more and more battles.

Eventually, seeing their defeat at hand they sent the heir to the royal family to a land in the far south to build one last fortress. However, in the process of it being built, a message was sent informing the heir to use the fortress as a tomb. To sleep for many ages until their race was forgotten by humanity. With this, the heir turned the fortress to a tomb and slept for many ages.

Now it is the modern era. The continent that the tomb was built was never discovered. As the world changed, so did the lands. The continent was covered in miles of snow and ice, becoming the continent known as Antarctica to humanity. Now, a human research group is currently on the ice testing out now laser technology to try and discover now deep ice caves under the ice.

When the lasers go active, that is when they find a mysterious object buried deep under the ice. Unbeknownst to them, it is the tomb that has long since been buried.

In this, we can play any of the fae races. Vampires survived the initial assault by going into hiding. What used to be lowly slave vampires became new noble families. The holy order of the sun still exist but are deeply embedded into the many different major companies, governments, and places of power.

Yep so if we go ahead and make our characters here we can go ahead and get started. Naturally the expedition on the ice is made up of humans (with an agent of the holy order embedded in them hoping they help him find the tomb on accident) You could be a secret vampire among the humans hoping to also find the tomb, you could be a human who gets turned into a vampire when the tomb is found and the vampire is released, or you can even be a creature of another race who has no care about the tomb and is simply there for science or adventure xD I'll be making a human character for the excavation team on the ice, as well as positing my vampire character who is currently buried in the tomb. :P

I think I'll be vampire, there on a mission for his master. Was thinking, maybe one of counsel members was secretly one of the advisors for the royal family? So is normally pretty quiet during meetings, to not draw too much attention to himself?

Name: Alessia von Zurbank

Personality: Alessia appears to be cold and calculated. Being a vampire has given her a long time to learn the mistakes of her kind as well as to learn how to get what she wants. She's prideful and intelligent, but carries grudges, especially against those she considers to be her enemy. To those, she considers an ally she is kind and supportive but isn't afraid to hurt them to help them see the truth in their mistakes.

History: Alessia was born to the royal family of all of the vampires. She was just a kid when the war with the humans began and she grew up during the time. She became an adult shortly before the war ended, however, at that point, she had already gained a large amount of knowledge on warfare among other things. When the time came to build the last fortress she didn't want to leave to do it but knew she had to as it was part of her duty. When the news came that the war had been lost she was so angry that she killed all of the slaves after finishing the fortress and turned it into a tomb in order to sleep until the time to rise came again.

Personality: Etmere is hot-headed and quick to act. He usually thinks about the consequence after instead of before. He's extremely passionate about the machines he creates and thinks humanity is the best there is. Besides that, he is often considered to be an airhead as he can be found staring into nothing as he thinks on his own thoughts, yet at the same time, he's extremely friendly to people and easily befriend most strangers.

History: Etmere born into the holy order of the sun, as are all of it's members. He was trained since he could walk and talk to hunt down anything that would threaten humanity, namely vampires. When he was old enough to go to school he went to normal school like any other kid, but then when he got home, he took classes that the order taught him, in order to become an exceptional hunter. Eventually, when he got to college he went to a university to get a degree in advanced electrical engineering and physics. With these degrees, he started to work to develop new technology for the order to help identify and kill nonhuman creatures.

Now he has a new machine that is ready to be tested. The vampire of the current days was nothing like the vampires were when the order was originally founded. Yet there were rumors that the vampires were hunting for an old fortress or tomb that was supposed to contain some extremely powerful weapon that could bring humanity back to its knees again. His own sources point him to the frozen continent in the south and so he signs on with a university as an engineer to work with a professor who was interested in taking his science students to the frozen continent to take ice core samples and do research. He spent many years with many misses on the tomb, all while the professor was happily taking his students along to teach his students science about snow, ice, and the frozen continent. Now he is on another expedition with the same professor and some returnee students and some new students.

Name: Viram but now goes by Vincent
Age: Unknown
Race: Vampire
Sex: Male
Appearance: is about 6 foot 2 and can always be found walking around in either a 2 or 3 piece suit. When asked if he had any more causal clothes. He appears confused, as if a 2 piece suit is his causal clothes.
Personality: Most don't know Vincent's history, they just know he is an old man. Even by Vampire standards, even if when you look at him he doesn't look much older than late 30s or early 40s. He likes to keep to himself, being quiet and observant. No one knows how much power he actually has, all they know is that when he gets stubborn and stuck on something. At times, it can be very hard to change his minds, but no one seems to know why.
History: Long ago, he was born to a slave vampire family. However, because of his gifts, intelligence, and surprising insight at the age, most are still learning to read. He was stolen from his family and was taken in by a noble family. He didn't resent his new family though, he learned a lot and saw what his life would have been like, should he have stayed a slave family.
So he took the name his new family called him, which meant gentleman. So he learned to become one, that and a statistician. Though, outside of the family that took him in, no one truly recognized him as such. Until he came of age, so until then his family helped him refine and pass along his thoughts. Until he cold join them in the room himself.
When the queen was born, he was already almost fully grown.
However, since at the time, he was still the youngest member of the nobles. He was still in charge of helping and watching the young queen. He helped her as much as he could, he cared for his young queen. Like a sister he never had, when the war started. That demanded his attention, but he tried to make sure he was still able to give her the attention she would need.
He helped win many battles in the human war. However, when the war was coming to a close and he saw what was coming. He sent a messenger to the queen, while the others were sent to tell the other nobles. Over time, he found that his messengers didn't reach any of the nobles. So his heart broke, thinking the queen didn't get it either. He was the only noble left, but he went into hiding. Seeming to Disappear for a few thousand years, by the time he saw another vampire. No one knew who he was and he was ok with that. He was just happy to find another vampire.
Eventually, he found 4 other vampires alive during the war.
The four of them started meeting up about once every hundred years or so. The Consorts or people that have changed into vampires. Would wait outside while they met up, when rumor has it that the humans have been sending parties to Antarctica. So after a while, he started sending his first consort to go on the trips with them.

Name: Herald
Age: 327
Race: Vampire Consort/in-training
Appearance: is about 5 foot 8" with brown hair and brown eyes. Unlike the man who changed him, he actually wears normal clothes and seems uncomfortable in anything too fancy.
Personality: He is a Pretty laid back, loves helping people, especially kids.
History: Originally, he was born to a Merchants' family. So he had a pretty good childhood, they traveled around alot, but there wasn't anything he could do about that. He thought he would be a merchant just like his parents and their parents. However, when he showed a gift for magic, that was when things changed.

He went from being with his family. Laughing and playing about random things they saw on the road. To being taunted and teased at a school designed to help him control and make full use of his magic.

No one at school understood why he felt weird for staying in one place or believed him when he tried to tell a few of the stories him and his family had seen and been through. Plus he was the oldest student in the beginners class. All of this added up to him being taunted and teased by the other kids, both older and younger.

At first he tried to ignore them, however things got worse and worse. The only reprieve he would get would be doing simple party tricks for the village kids. The village came to think of him as clumsy and accepted anytime he had bruises or injuries.

Life was miserable for him. He was quickly progressing in his magic studies, but his father had preached non-violence to him. So he stuck to his fathers' wishes and never even tried to injure or truly fight back against the other kids. Maybe that is why they didn't stop, even when he was at their level.

Maybe that is also why, when a stranger that stayed in town for a little while and been to a couple of his shows for the kids. That Herald didn't question, when the man offered him a new life. A life where he would go back to traveling, be away from the people that had hurt and tormented him so. Maybe that was why he took the man up on his offer.

Some would say, Herald had a life, but the boy would have disagreed. He was surviving, learning, but not really living. He didn't really know what he expected the man to do. What he didn't expect was to change into a completely different race.

Being a vampire was not what he expected. He learned alot from his master. They differently did travel alot, but traveling so people don't realize you don't age the same way they do gets old after about a hundred years or two. What he didn't expect was for you to be able to switch on and off the vampiric powers. As well as, the fact that it changed the color of his magic, to beautiful night blue.

Over the years, he has learned to sew, make expensive pastries from scratch, has experience in all stages of construction, including wiring. One thing that has been interesting to watch, was how people are depending more and more on science and less and less on magic.

One thing that Herald doesn't understand, is why his master wanted him to join the college that has been sending its' students to Antartica, but at least maybe he can get a masters in something with the credits that are building up.

Age: 16
Race: vampire (consort)
Gender: male
Appearance: he still looks like he is 8 years old, with blonde hair and bright green puppy dog eyes. He wears nice clothes, but his favorite shirt is a marvel T-shirt that is still a little big for him.
Personality: He is quiet and doesn't speak alot, except for if he completely trusts you. Then he can talk quite abit, he loves board games, and he loves to learn. He almost leaves Vincelets' side.
History: Henry never knew his parents or at least doesn't have any memories of them. He has been on his own most of his life. He lived on the streets and were used to no one caring or even looking at him. Then one day a man that looked like he worked at a hotel came and took him home. Henry would have fought a strange man trying to take him somewhere. However, this man didn't seem to care about anything other than the fact that the boy was dirty.

Like the man thought his parents' would be upset to see him in such a state. So took him home and gave the boy his first bath ever. Even gave him a snack, before telling him to go home.

Over the next few months, the boy would randomly see the man. Sometimes the man would see him, sometimes he would see the man. Every time though, the man smiled at him or gave him something small. The boy started to like the man and one day decided to go back to his house. Where he waited, another man came at first, he soon left and brought the man he was looking for with him. The man offered a smile like he always did, he didn't ask any questions and just let him join them in the house.

He lived with them for a few month, getting used to everything. Learning to trust both men, Learning how to read from the younger man and learning to play games from the hotel man. Every night, they ate more food then he had seen from life before that point.

Slowly he gained his voice, it was cracked at first, but it was nice to be somewhere. Where he could laugh and not have to worry about someone hurting him for it.

So when one day the two men came and asked if he wanted to join their family. The boy answered right away, "YES!" he had gained the only name he has ever had by this point. They have called him Teddy, so he goes by Ted or Teddy. He doesn't seem to care which you call him.

He has been his new family since, still trying to figure out how to not hurt when the bright sun was out.

Vampire Lore:

Different bloodlines have different levels of magical power available to them. The Order that this goes in is:

Slave: 1% Bonus

Crafter: 10% Bonus

Soldier: 25% Bonus

Noble: 50% Bonus

Royal: 100% Bonus

When a vampire drinks the blood from another it is often considered an intimate act between two vampires of opposite sex. Likewise, it is used as a reward by same-sex vampires. When one drinks the blood of another vampire, regardless of the genders at play, the vampire that is drinking has their power increased to the rank below the vampire that is providing the blood. Ranks in power can not decrease, only increase. When a vampire goes up in rank they have to rest a few days as their body gets used to having an increased amount of mana.

Blood has a smell that can be smelled by any other vampire regardless of rank. It's how vampires identify who they are in the presence of. Regardless of whether or not your bloodline power has been raised by drinking from another, the smell of your blood will stay the same as the bloodline you were born into. Likewise, your children and those you turn into vampires will be born of the bloodline you were born into, not of the bloodline whose power you currently hold.

Vampires have a caste-based system based on the bloodline they are born into. It is possible for a vampire to rise to a new level of caste if someone in a level higher decides that the lower vampire is worthy of such a thing. Even if raised though, they are considered to be a lower level version of those in the same caste. (for example, pureblood soldiers will think themselves higher than a slave/crafter who was brought into the soldier family (nonpure blood))

When two vampires of separate castes birth a child, the child has a random chance to become one of the bloodlines as their parents. A ritual can be used to determine which bloodline the child is.

The slave caste and crafter caste are extremely nice to each other and often intermingle with each other in the same way that modern day people would intermingle in the free world.

It is not uncommon for royal family members to take many sexual partners from the lower castes (slave and crafters). If one of these sexual partners bears a child, the partner is often killed in order to prevent the child from being born. For female royal family members, the partner is killed but the child is still given birth to. When the child is born, it is sacrificed to the Astrals to appease them in a ritual.

The Astrals are considered to be the gods. The royal family was created by the Astrals and are often considered to be their children even though they were created not born from. There are many gods in the world, with several different races being 'born' from these gods. The astral gods represent the gods of the night, the stars, and darkness. The vampires are the firstborn children from these gods with other night races being later children and holding lesser power than the vampires.

The Astral observatory is a holy temple to the vampires, while any vampire could visit it to pray for any number of things or have rituals performed, only royal members could enter the inner sanctum to commune with the gods. Communing with them usually involved them getting more direct answers, rituals, warnings, and prophecies given to them.
