Yeah,... He was pretty good for how green he was. Probably because of his self restraint was better than others his 'age' . he could concentrate better on the fight than just fighting with pure blind rage.

I figured the matches really aren't all that well organized. It's kinda like, two fighters are thrown together, people makes bets. And then after there is a winner, another challenger comes up to face them. The more challenges a person wins, the more they might get thrown in for bets. And reputation also plays into how much people are willing to bet on them.

Yeah I was imagining it like that too, all hectic.
So a few fights (could even make it a full out brawl in the end, with the crowd too), then getting out of there to a bar, they get drunk and actually make conversation while horny af and theeen when they get home, they finally give in. Sounds good?
Yeah an all out brawl sounds good. Maybe that pack isn't happy thier leader lost to a witch's dog and start shit and then just all hell breaks loose, And Mathian manages to sneak them out of there( perhaps immediately after the fight Mathian goes to collect the money and while he's gone, that's when they start shit with Theo
