Okay, so in theory an escort carrier would have 6 squadrons total, of which 2 would typically be launch-ready.

As for battlefleet colours...according to this the traditional colour of all fleets in Segmentum Obscuras is red (it doesn’t specify if this means ship hulls or uniforms), but I have previously stated in Hearts if Darkness that battlefleet Ixaniad have green uniforms, so we’ll stick with that.

We’ll say that the Adrantean navy wear blue, since that’s what admiral Spire commodore Thark is wearing.

Yes, that’d be correct – although to clarify (cos clear as mud writing) that would be a Light Cruiser as a carrier. The smallest fully-fledged launch bay (rather than a freighter converted – usually hastily, and notorious for frequent accidents - for launch operations in support of convoy defense…so only one squadron embarked?) while dubbed an ‘Escort Bay’ was designed to be paired on a Light Cruiser.

Following the logic that’s laid out in GW and FFG’s rules, the next size-up of hull from Light Cruiser / Cruiser (defensive facilities) / Battleship (garrisoned Blackstones…) would double the launch-ready and overall squadron capacity of the previous tier of vessel – although whether or not those squadrons physically exist on anything but musty paper is another question, cos attack craft aren’t cheap.

You’ve got to love GWs consistently inconsistent nature – cos the models used for most of the Navy vessels in Battlefleet Gothic (resident poster fleet for Obscuras / the Navy itself) are mostly green with white prows and gold accents…while the game box cover has grey-ish white with red prows and gold accents, which the artwork throughout the Rogue Trader books shows as colors of Battlefleet Koronus.

…which following on from the above, the artwork uses that classic blue and white Imperial Navy uniform as the attire for Battlefleet Koronus and presumably Calixis, as their nominal parent fleet.

    Ack.

I think what I would do is have one launch bay to the prow of the ship with an expansive hanger deck throughout most of the ships midsection and a landing/recovery bay to the stern to allow for a more or less conveyor system to get the craft from hanger or recovery bay to the launch bay

Also gives you a backup launch deck in case the front hanger gets shot to hell.

    Ship name: HDMS Imperialist

    Ship class: Endeavour Light Cruiser

Date/Location of Commission: 343.M40 – Voss Prime, Segmentum Solar

Allegiance: Patriot Republic of Adrantis [Co-Belligerent Privateer]

    Trademarks

Heraldry: Imperialist honors the God-Emperor and the Holy Fleet’s traditional role as His Shield with on heraldic wedge shield - the Aquila in gold surmounts a black band in remembrance of the vessels lost and crews martyred in defense of the Imperium, beneath which a field of white embellished with five golden, red framed stars in astrological alignment with the Segmentum Fleet Headquarters.

Motto: Fides Supra Omnes – “Loyalty Above All”

Combat Colors: Imperialist’s battle-scarred hull proudly and prominently bears the crimson of a Obscuras Segmentum Fleet warship along its belligerent prow, spine, keel and facings along the port and starboard, with the ash-white common of the Calixis-region along the flank insets. Honors have been rendered to Imperialist’s bellicose machine spirit and the vessel’s service history within Segmentum Solar with golden trim, in addition to a central band along the length of the spine.

Cultural Quirks: Imperialist has been reconfigured for long-patrols through the perceived quiet corners of the Segmentum. Over centuries of mostly independent operations, Imperialist has customarily crewed within the Adrantis Nebula and has developed familial bonds amongst the crew more associated with permanent cruiser formations and battleships. Imperialist has maintained amicable relations with the Nebula fleet and a more professionally cordial one with the Ixaniad fleet.

STC Deviations: Imperialist suffered neigh-on catastrophic damage to its prow and torpedo decks in 213.M41 while on convoy command in the fraught, early years of the Meritech Wars (211-226.M41) along the Calixis-Ixaniad border. Imperialistwas refit over a bureaucratically encumbered twenty years at the Perinetus shipyards while the Navy and Administratum debated and negotiated.

Imperialist was rebuilt with Stygies-pattern bombardment cannons, rather than its original Voss-pattern torpedo tubes. Its new prow was reinforced, and adorned with a belligerently prominent Aquila figurehead. Imperialist already possessed a Munitorium which serviced its conventional Mars-pattern macrocannon broadsides and prow battery. This was augmented by a Manufactorum and extended supply vaults to increase the vessels endurance and self-sufficiency on independent tours.

Operational History: The majority of Imperialist’s service in Segmentum Solar was dedicated to convoy duty along the valuable tithe and pilgrim routes, and often honored as the command vessel in circumstances when the Navy was obliged to commit a squadron sized escort formation. It was in such capacity that Imperialist was functionally transferred into the Obscuras Segmentum Fleet, sent as a reinforcement from Solar during the Gothic War and remained in the aftermath of Imperial victory.

Imperialist drifted into and remained in the Calixis sector, and over the centuries it has built a reputation as a fighting ship on the burnt out hulks of Xenos pirates, Chaos raiders and Imperial renegades. Imperialist has participated in Calixis’ rare fleet engagements, such as the Sieges of Vaxanide (410-412 and 507.M41) and responded to local incidents such as the xenos incursion on Soryth, the Dominion Crisis, and the abduction of sub-governor and Navy hero Thomas Tierce on Siculi.

Imperialist’s main responsibility since its resurrection has been Pax Imperialis sovereignty tours, wherein vessels of the Navy are tasked to fly the Emperor’s Aquila over His distant and often isolated realms. They serve to remind His subjects of the promise and threat of the Imperium’s military might, and when necessary to incentivize a recalcitrant world’s compliance with the Administratum’s tithe.

Imperialist has often been assigned this task by the Admiralty at Administratum request, due in combination to its free-range autonomy, an unflinchingly bombastic patriotic name, its combat reputation against traitors, and the unsubtle threat of its bombardment cannons. This has earned Imperialist the slanderous nickname of HDMS Extortionist amongst the rising new bloods of Battlefleet Adrantis, which they have voiced with increasingly less discretion in the years since Siculi.

But of course! Magos Delzharian will be displeased.

@Derpnaster; is that an aye or a no on the escort carrier, then?

@Jarms48; per our PM conversation, will you be adding an Imperial ship?

Yeah, I'll join in on the action. Don't want to miss out. I'll get something up here tomorrow night. I'll be heading to bed shortly and will be going to visit family tomorrow.

That’d be an Aye. Escort Carrier Resurgent will be assigned to fleet defense duty in the sector.
