So I do have two other ideas

welcome to hell
I started a short story called "welcome to hell" but never finished it.
The whole idea of this is that you have died and gone to hell with a chance of moving on. If you die in hell, you only come back.
Imagine a messed up, mirrored earth where lakes and oceans are red and it seems the sky is a REALLY high cave ceiling with eerie light.

afterlife
Ok, this stems from the idea of "welcome to hell."
In fact, you can probably call it a sequel.
Once one from hell has proven themselves to a point, they may get a second chance in a new world in a reincarnation of sorts.
The start of play for a character from hell could be in whatever form of life they wish as long as it makes sense.
You do not need to go through "welcome to hell" in order to go to "afterlife"

I am sorta thinking more modern for "welcome to hell," but we can do something more sci-fi and/or fantasy for "afterlife" with an interesting reincarnation.

Ajin: Demi-Human
"Ajin: Demi-Human" is a Netflix original anime where there are demi-humans called Ajin that never really die.
As an Ajin, you can blow your own brains out and stand back up without a scratch as well as control a variant or IBM [invisible black man], a vaglue human like figure only visible to Ajin or those it's about to kill.
Ajin were sought after for their medical and scientific experimental capabilities since they will "reset." Some even for military use.
This was taken care of after a small group of Ajin decided to become terrorists and were defeated by other Ajin working for the Japanese government.

With Ajin, we can do an alternate timeline with alternate characters or we can do a timeline after the original story.
Or we can take the idea and put it into another setting as a highly sought after, unaterual ability.
