    Default {M} Our Next Battle {EerieWillows x Natora}

(This roleplay is rated M for mature themes, violence, love angles that might not be all that attractive to some, and colourful language and scenes.)

    Spoiler: Necolita Tao

    Spoiler: Amenhotep Tao

The sounds of the khopesh swinging through the air and clanging together was all that could be heard on this side of the palace. The practice of the battle was done in a sand pit to make it harder for one to move and to practice what would actually be needed to be done when it ever came time for a war to be fought. The arena was lined with a wooden rail allowing a ring of sorts so others were not blindly wander into a battle like the one that was happening now. It also allowed a place for spectators to lean to watch. None would take the royal seats that were set on a small stage on one side of the arena so the part of the army that was watching the match and waiting their own turn to enter the ring were leaning on the rail and watching with excitement and baited breath.

Amenhotep fought his brother with all he had had, the sweat running down his muscles in the hot afternoon sun. His adopted brother was the only fighter in the whole cavalry that held any candle to Amen's abilities. He still hadn't managed to find out if that was because the others were too afraid to hurt the crowned prince or if he really was that much better. In any case, this fight was a challenge for both of them as it was the hottest day in a very long time and neither of them was willing to let up and allow the other a victory without taking it strongly and sternly from the other.

A few more swings and holds later Amen finally asked, "Ready to give up yet, brother? Father probably wants us to prepare for the feast tonight." This was followed by a grunt and another flurry of matched hits between the two and another hold. He was trying so very hard to distract his brother and though it was difficult, it had to be done if he wanted to win. "How many do you think will try for Necolita's hand tonight?"

Necolita was upstairs being primped and polished until she glowed. The maids were bathing her and making sure that her braids were immaculate. She was the only royal woman left in the palace now and it was a terrible burden to bear. So for the entire day before a large feast like this she was polished and catered on to make sure that there could not possibly be a woman there that would outshine her.

Being almost 18 now her father had been trying to have her married a dozen times already. Somehow Necolita managed to make it not stick every single time. There was always a reason that the wedding was not a good idea but she was running out of options as she knew her father was running out of patience. Thankfully, though tonight was not fully in her honour, tonight would be a night where Amenhotep might be able to choose his first wife finally. Both of them were quite old for not being married yet but their father was still quite healthy so they did not yet need to worry about keeping the family line alive forever. That was still to their father to worry about.

All around Necolita her room shined with the polished stone that was her floors and walls. The warm and rich carpets on the floor served to keep her feet warm in the night when she woke and made sure that the room looked wealthy more than anything else. As far as she was concerned, Necolita never wanted to marry. She had grown up being trained to be the perfect princess, which she was...except for this part of the "job". In any case she sat there as the maids continued to prepare her for the dinner and gossiped around her as she sat quietly trying to think of another excuse for not getting married.

    Spoiler: Shadox Tao

    Spoiler: 'Princess' Belit

    Spoiler: King Ea

    ---

It was always on the hottest of days that their father sent them out to practice like this. Some part of him wondered if it was to see if the 'foreign son' could last as long as his pure blooded one. There was no ill will in this sentiment, or not that he felt at least. He knew he could at least stand to his younger sibling, though he was getting better and better with every day. This one would be a special, however. His brother was having a harem of young women bestowed upon him, and from them, one would become the lady he would court and wed. He could feel the pride in his heart swell as Amen landed a particularly well aimed blow, barely able to counter the move. However, being a hulking mass of male muscle in his own right, Shad had just a glimmer of an advantage.

"I'd assume father wants you ready swiftly, however I've all the time in the world. We know that you're the one this party is truly for." His last words punctuated by a slight chuckle as a rather strong flick of his wrist and twist of his arm sent both their weapons to the ground. He stood there in shock. Well.. They were both disarmed it seemed. That hadn't gone as planned. "...Call it a draw?" Mused the older prince, A sly grin across his lips. He hadn't anticipated his brother to continue on, soon pinned against the burning sand and laughing warmly. Well, he had earned that one. He ignored the question of his sister, slowly rising to his feet and dusting himself off.

"I think you should worry about yourself, Brother. Father expects you to pick a wife this time. One of them would have to do.. at least for a first." Remarked the older man, pulling himself out of the sand pit and extending a hand to the other. He was fine with the loss, it was the first time in a long time they'd had a chance to spar. Now, it was time for them to both return to the palace and ready themselves. A stone formed in the man's throat. He knew that once they arrived, he would have to put on the best of faces, and that was becoming incredibly difficult.

Arriving home would mean facing her, biting his tongue. It took everything out of him to refrain from maiming the men that flocked to her. His younger sister, a beautiful, regal woman she had become. One that had a voice sweeter than a fresh plum plucked from a well tended tree and a wit sharp enough to force away unworthy suitors. He'd chased off a few himself, at her request and his father's permission. The prince had grown with her, protected her by Amen's side. Now... He had to watch her go, and that twisted at the deepest parts of his core. She was precious to him, and none of these suitors were to her taste. He only could pray that Amen taking a wife would give her time... would give him time.

" Come, I'm sure the maids will prepare you well while I get to bathe. We cant have you finding a future wife while you're covered in sand. They'll be at the gates any moment now, and father won't let you keep these ones waiting." Teased the older man, continuing to banter and converse as if things would never change.

Little did they know their fates truly did wait by the gates to the city. Carts and caravans entered for the grand party that was to be held, Ladies from all about and nobles daughters flocked to these events. Lords and Aristocrats who sought the promise of the crown joined them. It was to be a grand day, a truly auspicious one. The promise of eternal glory or ruin seemed ever present.

A small group entered, a few priestesses leading their sleek show horses in. The horses pulled and lead the cart that concealed the one who would be set to attend, her sharp golden eyes watching the city around her. It hadn't been long since the ritual that sealed her inside this mortal form. A unity between the high priestess of a royal court and her great form created the creature that rested in the gilded cage of sorts. The were about to set upon the court a beast beneath fair eyes and caramel skin.

Her red hair hung around her in quite the mess as they approached the palace. Thankfully they would be able to tidy her once they arrived. Her slender hand rested upon the barred windows. It was nothing like the palaces in the other realm, but it would do while she was trapped here. So long she had sought the way back to the heavens. Perhaps being wife to the mortals' 'morning and evening star' would be what would set her free. Her attendants took her inside to one of the many guest chambers. She hadn't had a chance to really see the palace from behind the screens that had protected her. The marble, the furs, the gardens, all of it was meticulously maintained and lavish.

Yes, this would do most well. Now, to ensure she was the one selected for the most 'honorable' of duties in the mortal realm. Her ladies apologized for such handling, and began their work. There would be little competition in these mortal women. A smirk blessed the sealed one's rosy red lips. This would prove to be interesting.

Amenhotep smiled at his triumph of landing his brother on his back in the sand. It wasn't often that he got the better of his elder brother. A part of him wondered if maybe he had been given the victory over because of the greatness of what was happening today. Either way, he would take the victories as he came across them. He stood and offered Shadox a hand up and out of the sand. Both of them would require some cleaning up before the night's festivities began.

"A first wife for me and father is no doubt hoping to find a suitor for Necolita by the end of the week," he said clapping his brother on the back. "It'll be your turn shortly after that," he said with a teasing laugh. Even though Shadox was older, his marriage seemed to be in the back of their father's mind the most. He would likely be wed off to one of the high power families in the city or possibly as a small token for a small country that wished to join their empire. Either way he would have to be married too soon.

Amenhotep walked with his brother back into the palace, bantering with him back and forth over small, superficial things. There were so many things looming over them, he was grateful to keep the chatter light and on the positive side of things for this time. It was only when they got to the hallways leading to the row of the siblings chambers that Amenhotep laughed and stopped walking for a moment.

There ahead of them, currently with her backs to them, was Little Lita in a dress most unbecoming to her as she walked up and down the hallway, looking like she was trying her best not to fall over. The dress was most unlike things they had seen her in before. Contrary to the typical fitting dresses that would have a sheer layer over them, this one seemed to have three or four different skirts added to it. Lita made it to the end of the hall and turned around to see her brothers, one of them at least, trying to stifle a laugh.

"It's not that funny," she argued as her cheeks grew darker in a blush. She was old enough not to pout and so instead she looked very unimpressed that Amenhotep would dare laugh at her. "You try walking in a pair of sandals where the heel is raised," she argued. This dress hadn't been her idea, nor did she approve, but father had had it made special from across the seas in order to try and make her more attractive to those from foreign countries. The reds in the dress along with the typical golds brought out the jewelry that adorned her neck and wrist. It was so unlike anything she had tried before and she couldn't say that she enjoyed it at all.

"Oh I'm sure both Shadox and I could do a better job of it," Amen teased her. "But sadly, I have to get ready. I'll see you both at the feast," he said with a smirk. He gave another laugh and a shake of his head as Necolita took a few steps towards them shakily.

He hid it well how much he disliked the idea of his younger sibling marrying any of the beasts in their court. Gods be damned none were worthy of her. He had spent much time on fending them off in whatever way he could. Uncovering rumors and displaying their distaste before their father. He'd even go as far as letting Lita hide away in his chambers for brief moments, simply due to the stress of it all. If she needed that break, he would provide, he always did.

He was fiercely protective of both of his siblings, acting more as a body guard to them than a prince. The conversation then turned to his own marriage prospects, a scoff left the prince before a belly laugh. There was no rush for him to be married. He knew full well he wasn't royal blood, and there was nowhere he'd rather be than in the palace. Their brisk walk to the palace was pleasant enough, though the eldest son did catch a view of some of the stranger guests arriving. Great gilded ones of old, simple carts mean to hide the nobles away and even a cage-like carriage that was cloaked with golden cloth. What a strange thing that was to see.

He easily kept pace with his younger sibling, however, the sudden stop nearly had him sliding on the fine floors. He was about to give the other hell for such a quick stop. His eyes however, followed the line of sight to a rather.. strange one. Little Lita, wrapped in fine fabrics that were... strange. To say the least it added far too much to her figure. Covering his mouth, he did his best not to chuckle. It had to be terribly uncomfortable in such a thing.

"I dare say raised heels may make you as tall as me, Amen, perhaps you should consider as well?" Teased the older man, giving Lita a cheeky smirk before the other took his leave, leaving the two alone. Shad crossed his arms, taking his time to look over the dress fully. Really, had it lost maybe one layer... it'd be stunning on her, but this? It was so... large. Perhaps he wouldn't have to chase men away after all. Then again, who all was attending this weeks events? Who knew, maybe this would make things harder after all. His cheeky smile was replaced with an apologetic one as he strode to his younger sibling, holding his arm out.

"Where are you heading? your room for some rest before hand? The grand hall? The lounge? I'll help." The eldest prince was known for being soft of his young sister. She had been the first bit of his life that he could distinctly remember. The kindness she'd shown him, despite the strange situation, was something he could always rely on. So he'd done his best to shower her with the same and more. "Father must be hoping you catch the eye of a foreigner. But I must say, it is a strange choice, even for him. There is a chance to find you flatter sandals? Something less.. wobbly? Perhaps?" even now his light teasing was mean more just to keep his own head strait. He happily chatted with his sibling, walking her down the halls. He could wait to be ready. He wasn't needed like the other two were.

Necolita smiled to Shadox as he came closer to her. The two of them had always had a loving relationship ever since he got there. She had been one of the first ones to help him wake up when he got to the palace. It was her who had shown him around and whenever anyone had given him a problem, she had given them a stern warning and found some guards to sort them out. It hadn't been easy but she had been a driving force in the palace accepting him as one of their own.

"Just pacing so I don't look like a new born camel when we go downstairs," she told him, but gratefully took his hand and began pacing with him instead. When he suggested finding her less wobbly sandals she laughed gently, a sound like bells chiming. "I've tried. With flatter sandals, I trip on the dress," she told him. It was a sad truth but these were the shortest shoes her maids could find that would allow her to walk without the aid of always carrying the dress. They could try to shorten it for another occasion they had told her, but tonight wouldn't be possible.

After they had been pacing and idly chatting for five minutes or so, she took her arm gently back from his hold. "Thank you, brother. Now go get ready. Amen and I already decided we aren't entering without you. If we're late, father will be terribly disappointed," she informed him with a half smirk. Shadox had a way of getting out of being on time for these things, blending into the background. His younger siblings weren't letting him off the hook so easily.

"Now that is a predicament. My apologize. I should have known you'd tried everything. You're always so graceful, it's just strange to see you wobble like this. If you need an arm to lean on, you know where to find it when the party kicks off." Replied shad, rubbing the back of his head as they began their pacing. These were the moments he treasured. Their little bits of alone time with no interruptions.

The time spent with her, even such a short while was always so pleasant. However, as she remarked about him entering with them, he winced. Oh goodness, they were going to make a show of this, weren't they. He sighed deeply, ruffling his messy, sandy black hair. Perhaps a bath wouldn't be a bad idea. He took her hand and kissed the top of it respectfully, as he had for a long while.

"I'd normally object, but it's such an important event for you two... Please. Excuse me. Send a servant for me if you need." With that, he excused himself, leaving for the baths to find his other brother. Surely he was still there, he hadn't been too long with her. Before he'd even made it halfway he was swarmed by servants that Amen had sent, apparently he had been in on this from the beginning, and just let him think he was getting away. Words couldn't describe his displeasure with this event, but after such a good fight, a scrub was not the worst thing in the world.

"Please hurry sire, the prince is already done in the baths and waiting for you. " Whimpered one of the little handmaids that was tending to him, her face flush as she looked to the side. He had taken to playing around with the poor women when they forced him into things, but today, he had no time, instead just stripping himself in a rather showy fashion. The whimpering from behind him was all he needed to savor the moment. Usually his brother would lecture him, but there was none of that today. Taking joy in giving the poor maids a wink, he slipped into the cool bath water, groaning contently. Ah, that was soothing to the sand burns to his back.

As soon as he was settled, the women began their washing of him, dedicating themselves to their work and disregarding his usual taunts as they rushed to prepare him. He hadn't soaked nearly long enough before he was shoved from the bath and into the dressing room, his brother there waiting. letting his towel drop with little regard, he moved to where the dressers were waiting for him, grumbling once again before giving his younger a bit of side eye.

"I wish you had TOLD me you and Lita were forcing me to enter with you, I could have enjoyed my extra five minutes of time. Soothe my battle wounds." His last words were so sarcastic it practically dripped from his mouth. This time he did not taunt the maids, lest it irritate the other. There was no time for that. not if they were to be on time. The women slipped him into the fine linen pants and his loincloth, comparing pieces of jewelry to adorn him with.

Really, Why were they dolling him up as much as his siblings? This was not for him, he would be off to the side as he usually was, and that would be more than enough. Moral support, that's all he ever needed to be. That's all he wanted to be... that was what he told himself over and over. A support to the two most important youths in the kingdom, nothing more.

Once dressed, Shadox found himself beside his brother. He was about to begin with their usual banter before the room went quiet, his brother bowing as their father entered. Gasping, he soon followed suit, his eyes focused on the ground as they waited for what was to come. Surely this was not an unpleasant visit? Perhaps just to make sure that they were up to the high standards he expected of them.

Truly he did love the king. He had been benevolent and taken him in. Educated him, healed him when he was on the brink of death. He had such respect for the man, yet some part of him doubted what the old man thought of him. Really, how could he think of him as anything less than an imposter? Just a younger nanny for his children. Yet, he claimed to love him as his own. It was endlessly confusing, but he kept his qualms to himself, giving the old man a warm greeting as he always did. he was his 'father', after all.

Amen watched with a small smirk as the women dressed his brother. It was about time he got to look the part of a prince. It was a great feast and father was already hoping to make at least one alliance this week in order to help with the looming war on their borders. If they could also look at starting to make a name and appearance for Shad, it would only serve to help their cause. He had been too long in the background. It was time.

Once Shadox was finished getting dressed, Amen was about to say something about his brother finally looking presentable when he saw a large shadow cross the threshold of the dressing room. His father had come in. His eyebrows raised in surprise but he immediately bowed, the servants going to their knees respectfully but both Amen and Shad were only expected to bend at the waist and stay that way until they were given permission to stand straight again by the king.

He gave it shortly after he entered. "Rise my sons," the king's deep voice said with a smile on his lips. The servants stayed as they were but Amenhotep looked up to his father, a smile on his face. The king looked between the two of them and beamed with pride. "Both of you look very regal tonight," he commented. "There will be many women looking to find your hands," he said easily. His face shifted though hinting that his next instruction might not necessarily be to their liking. "I understand you have your tradition, Amenhotep, of dancing with your sister for the first dance before choosing her a suitor that she must try another with. Tonight, you will choose a guest for your first dance instead. Shadox, I expect you to take Amenhotep's place in that regard and share the first dance with your sister and then hand her off to an available suitor."

Amenhotep nodded, though he couldn't say that he was happy about the arrangement. For twenty years he had been dancing with his sister at the beginning of every dance. They had gotten quite good together. Now he would have to choose a partner that he hoped would be able to follow his lead as he led them through a dance where only royalty was permitted to dance. At least Lita would be left to Shadox instead of some random. "It will be done, father," he agreed.

After hearing his sons agreement, he nodded. "Then I shall leave and you two should finish getting ready. There is plenty to do, I'm sure. Some gold cuffs would do both of you some justice," he commented to the maids before turning and taking his leave.

Oh joy, this night was just becoming better and better. He was being expected to act as a prince, yet he really was not. Fully aware of his position, he believed it was more to quell Amen's tensions. It could only be that, his wedding to a noblewoman would be of no use, as he was not a blood royal. Regardless, he patiently and quietly stood there, respecting his father figure and keeping a stern face. To hear that he would take his brothers place, he nearly objected. That was their dance... but. Amen seemed to answer before he could protest. Great. This was getting better and better.

He bid his father farewell before the maids went back to furiously dressing them up, tying his hair back tightly and linking and threading gold into the simple, thin braids. Gods be damned he felt like he was being just as dressed as his sister. They put the earrings into his ears and set the small hoops aside, deciding on something far more grandiose. By the end, he was quite frustrated. The weight of such things left him unable to move as quickly. If something were to happen, he would be useless.

"I feel as if this is quadruple my weight in gold... These would be far more suited to you, brother." Remarked the rather irked young man, sighing as a woman came close and handed him a larger belt of gold. Great. He muttered to himself and secured it properly, moving to the mirror and looking over himself. Well.. perhaps it was not as gaudy as it felt. Adjusting things to his taste took a moment, but soon he felt a tad more put together, turning and facing the other. As he saw his brother finish his own preening, a warm smile graced his lips.

"Well look at that, you look like a future king, brother." He meant that statement, offering a hand out to him and helping him to his feet. Truly, they were as ready as they would be for this night. "Now... lets not keep Lita waiting. She'd have our hides if she has to remain in that dress longer than expected because of us." Leading the other out and down the halls, he did his best to avoid the other guests, lest they ruin their reveal.

Amenhotep shook his head every time Shadox started muttering about how ridiculous one thing was or how grand the other could be. Finally, his look at the large gold belt that was handed to him made Amenhotep let out a small laugh. "Just wear the damn thing, brother," he teased a bit before putting one on himself that was equally large and outrageous. Of course he had been much more used to being presented like a peacock before. This would be the first time that Shadox was forced to be presented with his siblings at a feast but it wouldn't be the last.

Amenhotep accepted his brother's hand up and compliment. It was kind but he knew a truth that he knew Shadox had a hard time accepting. It would be interesting to see if he would accept what his father was going to do eventually. Either way, he followed his brother out into the halls to go to the area that he had always met Necolita so they could enter together.

Thankfully, they arrived just before Necolita so Amen could feed some information to Shadox. "So, choosing a suitor for Lita isn't as easy as it seems. If you choose one that father would reject, he will be unhappy and Lita will be thrilled. If you choose a serious suitor, Lita will be furious and father will be happy," he advised his brother. "You know just as much about them as I do but choose one that could be a possibility in father's eyes or you won't have an enchanting conversation after the feast," he warned.

Necolita walked up catching the tail end of the conversation. "Why wouldn't Shadox have an enchanting conversation with father?" she asked innocently before tripping over her shoes again and falling directly towards Shadox. She was smart enough to extend her arms and she caught herself against his shoulder. She grumbled something about stupid foreigners before righting herself.

This whole party would work in her favor, she would make it so. As her hair was tied and bound with golds and beautiful jewels, Belit could only stare at the ceiling. She was lost to the universe within her, trying to see just what could be done to secure her preference with whoever this party was for. Her body was massaged with strange oils that smelt of foreign places and strange herbs. It was intoxicating, matching her beauty well. She would stand out in the very least.

"Milady... please rise. We must continue to dress you." Called one of the maids, clearly concerned with how long this was taking.

The woman simply closed her eyes as she started to stand. Supple skin and womanly curves on display for all around her. The girls rushed about to cover their lady in her finery. The dress that'd be chosen was showy at the very least. Though, calling it a dress was misleading. The collar was an elegant neck piece, like any royal, it had to make a statement, but the fabric that came down over her chest was more than tightly. Woven like a second skin on the, it barely covered a thing, the fine scales covering only the most indecent parts of her. they conglomerated in shimmering opalescent pieces and amber gems. The contrast of the pale color against her caramel skin was divine to say the least. Slowly the scales grew in number as they traced down her back and belly, fully covering the woman from the top of her plump rear. It was as if she were holding them on via magic. The long train of shimmering sheer fabric that fell from her neck piece added an elegance to the strange garment, her arms covered by the fantastic jewellery that had been forced onto her. Truly, she would outshine most at this grand event.

The women styled her hair to match, then one escorted her down the halls. Every time the light caught the scales of her dress, she seemed to glimmer and shine even brighter. She bowed to the men who held the doors open, slipping inside and smirking. Yes, this would be a truly interesting evening. Now, to patiently wait for the royal family.

The princes' walk to the entrance had been eventful, women of the court gawking as they entered, leaving the princes to speak amongst themselves. Their father was inside, giving a grand speech in thanks for their attendance and to the gods for their bounty. It was a hefty speech, and he tried to listen. Amen was to the side, continuing to discuss his job this evening. Gods, why had he been told to escort Lita? How could he choose from the men there? None would suit her, and none would be able to prove him otherwise.

His train of thought and snarky remark were cut off though at the feeling of hands upon his back, eyes wide as he looked over his shoulder to see his younger sister had used him to catch herself. A chuckle left him as he once again offered her an arm. The poor thing was still struggling with her heels. Unfortunate.

"Nothing Lita, never you mind what father and I speak of. Has he spoken to you yet? We haven't much time before our entrance." Spoke the eldest prince, smiling down at her with a certain sweetness. Really, she looked lovely, but the fact that she was struggling so with it... It was hard to keep from chuckling. "Lean into me while we dance. I'll lift you as much as I can. Give your ankles a bit of a break."
