This is not an open RP, but thanks for the interest!
The year is 895 of the 5th era of the Menan, a race of intelligent humanoid creatures on the planet of Ollarth, the fourth planet in an eleven planet system around the star called Dayik. Throughout the time, civilizations have flocked around mysterious artifacts which held otherworldly powers. Some were lost to time, others went on to power advanced civilizations. Before the war, ten major countries signed a research agreement to create an expedition to space. Then, the world died. Full scale war erupted across the globe due to a research dispute regarding the treatment of these ancient artifacts. After three years of war, a bomb, the likes of which no one had ever seen, unleashed a small solar flare on the planet, incinerating half the planet and its inhabitants. Meanwhile, a biological weapon was released on the other half. Crimson red clouds permeated the ground and choked out life. Few survived. The northern and southern reaches remained fairly untouched and those lucky enough to survive found themselves in a dying world they no longer recognized. Volcanic activity pumped toxic ash into the air, periodic tremors disrupted the dirt, and strange new artifacts littered the ocean acting as powerful mines that killed unsuspecting creatures. This is the world we find ourselves in.
The four races in the world, the artic Imunan with shorter and thicker bodies, the underground Gazenan with their hard claw-like nails, the aquatic Dabunan with webbed fingers and toes, and the most common Brenan with golden skin, all flocked towards the northernmost island of Irall, controlled by the nation of Xydrift who used the frozen pole for research and development. At the southern tip of Irall, the largest intact building served as a staging ground for adventurers. The Xydrift Institute of Research, XIR for short, paid daring Menan handsomely for the procurement of the powerful new artifacts that hid in the ruins of what was lost in the war. The Hall, a bar-like area where adventurers gather to team up, get paid, and relax, is where we find our party.

General Vukani Yengwayo
Male, 48, Megazolian, Gazenan descent
Vukani was born in Megazolis into a military family. His father was an officer in the army and his mother was a field medic. His brother, the oldest of the siblings, became an ace pilot for Megazolis and his sister, the middle sibling, became an engineer for the Megazolis navy. Vukani, being the youngest, had quite the reputation to live up to and, through an extreme amount of determination, did just that. He moved his way up the ranks and became a general at the age of 32, after enlisting when he was 20. His life had been dedicated to Megazolis and the army, so when the war came, he was behind his country wholeheartedly. In that final war council, he was there when the decision to drop the bomb was made. The only reason Vukani had survived the aftermath was because he happened to be in Cythetta at the time. Despite trying to move on, he still harbored some resentment for the Brenan, and especially Massrend. After all, in his mind, they were the ones who caused the world to end.
Aleksandra Petkoska
Female, 28, Oudhalian, A mix of Brenan and Amenan descent
Aleksandra was born to a family of poor farmers. She was the first and the only child her parents had. Her mother was a small and frail Amenan who was born in Oudhal. Her father had moved to the Garden from Hasaarde. They lived in a small village near the southern shore of the lower Athacester lake. Her father wanted more children but her mother had a hard time having kids and barely survived her first pregnancy. Aleksandra spent her days helping her parents on their homestead, farming and caring for animals. Her father taught her how to survive in the wilds, hunt for food, and do emergency first aid. When she was 18, her parents were killed and she was abducted by cultists of Sorex in the middle of the night. She was prepared for ritual sacrifice as she struggle for freedom. The cultists cut all the way down her arm with their sacrificial blade. She would have perished had it not been for a family friend and town member, who heard the ruckus and gathered the townsfolk to rescue her. In the confusion, she stole the sacrificial blade and murdered the Menan who tried to murder her before passing out due to blood loss. The family friend saved her and became her adopted uncle as she recovered from the traumatic event. When she was 20, she joined the Oudhal air force for a few years, getting through training and only flying a handful of times before getting discharged. Just before the war, she was 23 and returned to her home. The bomb did not quite reach the Garden, but the wildfires quickly engulfed the forest. Her home burned down, as did the forest that her mother taught her to hold sacred. With little to live for, she became a guide for various searchers.

Female, 27, Clodhelmian, Imunan descent

Once she was old enough, she went to the prestigious University of Impliree were she studied biology. She graduated when she was 24, just before the end of the war. After that, she went to live with her grandparents and began to take internships with research labs and even try some research of her own. After the war, she became fascinated with the artifacts and how they affected biology.
