    Default From a distant shore....[M]{DamoniquexLycoris}

Rated M for strong language, drug/alcohol use, possible(probable) sexual themes and situations, violence, and love triangles.

Name: Learon Cylian III, Crown Prince of the Kingdom of Celvita(Prince Laer, to his friends)
Appearance: A strapping young man, half a year shy of eighteen at the start of our story, with deep blue eyes and a ragged mane of sand-blonde hair that falls well past his shoulders, tall and narrow, with sun and wind-burnt skin and regal features marred only by a ragged scar running from cheek to jaw on left side of his face, courtesy of a corsair.

Personality/Bio: Born the only son of a household full of daughters, Laeron has been raised to rule from the moment he opened his eyes. Well-bred and well-educated in both politics and warfare, with a sharp wit and sharper sword, he lives up to his position....but for an insatiable wanderlust. Whenever the opportunity presented itself, he would steal away from the palace grounds to see the realm with his own eyes, sharing the rough fellowship of men-at-arms and traders, sailors and craftsmen over the stifling air of courtly life. He was assisted and supported in these endeavors by his favorite uncle, Aeric, a third son left to his own devices more often than not, who carved out a life outside of his royal brothers shadow as an sailor, royal envoy, and merchantman in times of peace, Commander of the Fleet in times of war.

When Laeron's sixteenth name-day came to pass, marking him for a man grown, the boon he asked of his father was to join his uncle on his next voyage, to visit the exotic kingdoms of the east, treat with their kings, chiefs and nobles, and return with a hold full of foreign treasures and a greater understanding of the world beyond his homeland. Preparations were made, and they set sail a few months later with eight ships, a strong escort, and gifts, tokens of royal esteem for foreign notables, and trade goods to demonstrate Celvitan craftsmanship.

Half the population of the capitol turned out to see their beloved young King-to-Be off at the docks, an all went well for the first leg of their journey. Ports were called upon, lavish feasts attended, accords reached...but their return proved disastrous. First came the storms...three ships were lost, others damaged heavily, many fine sailors swept overboard and lost to the tides. And after the storms came the corsairs...vicious pirates who had caught the scent of gold and glory. The battle was joined and won....but not without cost. One ship boarded and taken, another rammed and sank...and his Uncle Aeric killed by the same pirate that gave Laeron his fresh scar, before falling to the princes own blade.

In order to get a full crew on the remaining ships, another had to be abandoned, and most of their treasures as well...and the remaining two vessels were in need of provisions and repairs. Thankfully, two days later, the came on sight of land. A small island, missing from most maps...and their salvation, with any luck there would be fresh water, wood for repairs, and either fruit or animals to eat....they would find all that, eye...but also something unexpected.

Name: Layla (Last name is unknown)
Appearance: A young women only the age of 17. Her blue eyes look just like the ocean. She has long, wavy brunette hair that she lets down free to blow with the ocean breeze. Her skin is fair and her body is perfectly shaped with curves in just the right places. Her height is about average as she was only 5'4.

Personality/Bio: Not much is known about Layla and where she came from. All that she remembers that when she was 10, she on a ship when a storm appeared out of nowhere. The winds were strong, strong enough to knock the young girl overboard as she tumbled into the sea. The poor girl struggled trying to keep herself a float as voices could be heard calling "Layla" in the distance. The waves were too strong and eventually the girl gave up as her body starting falling deeper in the see.

When the girl opened her eyes, she wasn't in the ocean anymore. Instead she was on an island that seemed to be deserted. The girl searched and searched to find that was indeed alone. The girl learned to adapt as she survived living on the island alone for 7 years.

Layla never imagined her luck when some unknown group came to her island. Who knows how her life may change with the arrival of the unknown group.

Looks like we're about set, the princess can be introduced later on when she actually appears. I'll get to work on an IC.

IC thread is up, I just sorta opened it up. I figure you'll start off with Layla watching these strangers with curiosity from afar, until Laer wanders off into the jungle on his own so they can meet face-to-face.

About to reply..I was thinking for this opening part, there be a bit of a language barrier between Laer and Layla. Like, she knows some words of his language and understands gestures, but hasn't spoken to anyone for so long that she's forgotten how to use real sentences, so they'll have to 'speak' with very simple phrases and gestures until she gets a better grasp of it.

Seems like it would be an interesting way for them to bond!

Aww that actually sounds really cute. It would be a good way for them to bond while also getting Layla getting more comfortable being around him.

So that thing that Layla was afraid of, people talking about her instead of to her....it's gonna happen a lot. Even our Prince, Chivalrous as he might be, won't be without his biases.

I hope you get where I'm going with...it'll be a true medieval society, rather than some happy fantasy-kingdom with equality and modern morality, and where they're going, she'll have where and how she was found, her (presumably) low birth, and her gender working against her.

To the rest, she'll be more the princes 'pet', living in comfort at his leisure, rather than a lady of the court. Around them, yes, but never to presume to truly be one of them.

Yeah, I kind of figured that will happened with her. In that type of society, it wouldn't make sense for these people to automatically give her some high status and treat her with such. To most, she would most likely just look like an outsider that doesn't belong in the castle as she doesn't seem to have any sort of importance at all.

I think by not having her be treated as one of them will actually help develop Layla overall as a character as she will learn to adapt to this new place as well as adapt and overcome how the people view her in this society.
