John chewed on his lower lip a bit before purposefully eating his food as well, mostly to distract himself from staring at his daughter. June also forced herself to eat. They all were anxious about tonight.

Milly could feel it radiating from them, and it eventually made her put her fork down. "...I don't want to go," she finally said, looking down at her hands.
John looked at her and frowned slightly but quickly tried to hide it. "Milly, I don't think any of us wants to go. But we have to, for Harry's sake." He said gently.

Milly tried not to cry. She had the awful feeling that tonight would be the last time she would see her brother. "I know..." she murmured, fishing the two stones that she had selected for herself and Harry out of her pocket.

June looked at the stones. "What are those Milly?" She asked.
"Milly and David picked those up at the park. I think it helps her a little." John explained.

Milly placed the stones on the table, pointing to the shiny black one. "That one's for Harry," she said softly, and then took the white one into her hands. "This one's mine."
June smiled. "I think Harry will like it." She said softly.

John smiled. "Milly. I know you're scared but I am too. Remember, being brave doesn't mean not being scared. It's means doing something even though you are scared."

She took a deep breath and nodded, pocketing both stones again.
