He smiled at her, unaware of what she was truly thinking. He kissed her forehead and let her help him. Once dinner was done, Roger called in the boys for dinner and ordered them to wash their hands thoroughly before coming to the table. David was the first to slide into his seat.
"Dad! We found this huge snail! It was at least an inch long!" He exclaimed, demonstrating the size of it with his fingers.
"Oh wow! What did you do with it?"
"We put in on some rocks and out of the way. We didn't want to step on it."

Mawva smiled as she brought their dinner to the table. "Good. I'm sure the snail appreciated that."

"It better. We did it a favor." David said before he started to serve himself his food. Roger smiled as he watched David.
"Make sure Jimmy has some."
"I'm not gonna take all of it dad." He said before handing the dish to Jimmy.

Jimmy grinned and served himself as well. "I wouldn't put it past you," he teased his friend before handing the dish to David's parents.

Roger chuckled and served himself for handing it to Maeva. "See? He knows what you're capable of, David." David just grinned in response before he started eating.

Maeva got some for herself and watched the boys. She was glad they were having fun together.

Roger held Maeva's hand under the table as he ate. David was chatting away with Jimmy, happily. This was the most David had smiled since he was officially expelled.

Maeva squeezed Roger's hand and looked at Jimmy.
"So James, do you play any sports?" Jimmy looked up at her.
"Just at school. In gym class."

Roger smiled. "Do you like baseball, Jimmy? Perhaps I could teach you and David some things."

Jimmy smiled and nodded. "Yeah sure! We don't play it very often at school."
