She smiled a little. Then her eye was caught by a little boy peeking through her door. Except, something was off. He seemed... seethrough. She frowned a little, watching him stare at them.
Roger followed her line of sight and saw the ghost boy. He squeezed her hand. "That's a ghost..." He murmured. He always hated seeing the ghosts of children. Their lives taken from them too soon. In a hospital... It meant that this boy was sick or hurt before he passed. "Most ghosts are harmless." He reassured softly.

"God," she said softly. Somehow she wasn't surprised by this. It was as if she remembered that ghosts were real, and that she saw them regularly. She offered the boy a sympathetic smile, upon which his little eyes widened and he moved a little closer.
Roger smiled as she seemed to take the appearance of the boy in stride and even smiled at her. He looked at the small boy and smiled at him. "Hey little guy... How are you doing?"

The boy seemed very confused that anyone could see him, let alone talk to him. He took a step into the room, and now they could see he only had one leg. The other seemed to have been ripped off. Maeva bit her lips and closed her eyes. "..I..." the boy stammered. "...I don't know where my mommy is..." Maeva covered her mouth and willed herself not to cry.
Roger forced himself to look at the boy. The missing leg broke his heart but he wasn't the first ghost he's seen who was missing a part of themselves. "I'm sorry, little guy. I don't know where she is either." Roger said as he squeezed Maeva's hand, trying to comfort her.

Maeva looked at the boy with pain in her heart. He looked between them and started to cry softly.
Roger sighed and patted his lap. "Come here. I'll hold you. No need to cry. I'm sure you'll see your mommy soon." He said gently.

The boy shook his head, crying harder now. "Nobody can touch me," he murmured. "Nobody holds me."
