He blushed a bit. "Hey. I know that you don't particularly like my magic. I get it."

"I don't like what it does to you. But the magic itself... it's miraculous."
He nodded. "Hopefully it doesn't get any worse than this."

She squeezed his hand. "Hopefully."
"Perhaps there's a lot of change in the front end but then it sort of plateaus."

She looked at him. "Well, if your father looked like that... I don't think so."
He bit his lip. "Yeah.... I suppose so..."

She squeezed his hand and hugged him. "You'll be okay," she said before leading him into the dining hall.
The next day, Maeva was sitting on her cushion in the healer's room. She had her crystal ball in her lap, and was focusing on Roger as an exercise.
Roger was taking his daily morning nap. Unfortunately, fear of his father couldn't keep him awake all morning and once as gain, he fell right asleep. Once again, his father appeared, this time flipping through one of the books with different magical spells.
"It never ceases to amaze me what all you mortals can come up with. You have a spell for practically anything!" He chuckled. "Though, I suppose that's why I gave magic to the humans. To explore and give the middle finger to God." Roger stood up suddenly from his desk.
"Oh fuck, not again..." He muttered. "Hey! I told you no last time! Get the fuck out of my head! I'm not taking any deal!"
"Oh I remember. But you will. There are some things that you would do anything to protect." He closed the book and set it down.

Maeva's expression grew concerned when she saw he was asleep. The second he stood up in his dream, she suddenly felt like she was right there with him. She froze completely as she heard him yell, and then chills ran down her spine as his father spoke. That voice... It was absolutely awful. She couldn't quite see the whole scene, as it was not quite real. But she could sense Roger's fear.
