"I didn't get caught." He said softly, looking away. He told me what he saw and when he was taken, I was passing by the window and..." He shuddered. "I don't want to describe it. It was horrible."

"So when they hurt you... Was that just for asking questions?"
He nodded. "Yes. I wanted to know where my brother went."

Maeva bit her lips, hard. She really had to fight herself not to hug him now. She took a deep breath and blinked back tears. "I... I'm so sorry," she murmured. "Is there anybody else who knows?"
He shook his head. "No. No one even remembers my brother except for me. It's like be never existed." He rubbed his face.

Maeva watched him for a moment, and then held out her hand, briefly closing her eyes. "Give me your hand," she said softly.
He looked at her confused but then gently rested his hand in hers. "What are you doing?"

"I'm not a mage, but I'm... slightly gifted." She closed her other hand over his. "Think of your brother." She looked up at him. "I'll remember him together with you."
Myron looked at her as tears formed in his eyes. He closed them and thought of his brother. Them playing together as kids on the outside. Then their arrival here and learning magic together. Their inside jokes followed by laughter as well as them comforting each other during tough times. They had been inseparable.

Maeva saw each of his memories as he went through them, clear as day. They looked so happy together. Knowing - or at least faintly understanding - what happened to them broke her heart. She was overwhelmed by guilt, both for lying to him and for making him talk about this. After going through this with his brother, she supposed he'd be very worried about telling somebody. And she had manipulated him into doing just that.
She took a deep breath to help her get her focus back to his memories. She would do as she said. If nobody remembered his brother... she would. It was the very least she could do for him.
