She bit her lips and hugged him. "You know I'll be right there with you when you want me to."
"Yeah. I know and I love you for it." He kissed her hair. "I'll be okay. You just try and rest."

She nodded and pulled away so they could sit down again. She scooted over so she was under the blanket he had hung up, and yawned.
He sat next to her and stroked her hair. He leaned against the tree and motioned for her to lay her head down on his lap.

She smiled a little and lay down with him, settling into his warmth. She didn't think she'd be able to sleep, but a minute after she had closed her eyes she had drifted off.
Roger sat there, listening to Maeva breathe as she slept. He sighed softly before grabbing the backpack. He simply put an unlit cigarette in his mouth and closed his eyes. Sleep would not have him. He was too nervous that his father would find them or come visit him in his dreams. He was hungry and tired and desperately wanted to light that cigarette but he didn't. He knew better than to do this in front of Maeva and that was the only thing stopping him. He opened his eyes and stares into the flames of the dying fire. He was alone with his thoughts and that was never a good thing.

Maeva's mind's eye tried to relive the day in her dreams, but her body wouldn't let it. She needed rest more than anything, especially with the baby. So she slept peacefully and dreamlessly, finding enough comfort in Roger's warmth.
Roger didn't sleep the entire night. He knew that he would regret come morning but he didn't want to take the chance that his father wouldn't be able to talk to him. Now that he was loose in the world... In Myron's body, it scared him. He didn't know what his father wanted. He didn't know anything at all.
Finally, the dawn arrived and Roger breathed a sigh of relief. He was exhausted and the bags under his eyes only proved the fact that he didn't sleep. He took the unlit cigarette from his mouth and carefully placed it back in the pack with the others. He wanted the comfort that the nicotine provided but knew that he couldn't have it.

Maeva stirred when he moved, and groaned softly. Her neck hurt a little, and she laid a hand on it before opening her eyes. She looked up at Roger and reached up to stroke his cheek. She could tell he hadn't slept, and it worried her.
