Maeva nodded. "I will. Could you... could you send my friend back in please?" she asked softly.
The nurse smiled. "Of course dear." She paused. "You know... He's cute." She grinned and walked out. Roger came back in after a couple of minutes. "Hey Maeva. You... You okay?"

She looked up at him and wiped her eyes. "Hey... I-I'm sorry, I'm freaking out a little..."
Roger immediately was by her side but he didn't touch her just yet. "I know. I bet this is all overwhelming." He said softly. "What can I do to help?"

She looked at him. "Tell me what happened... How exactly did you manage to save me? What happened to those men? And what about your job, and your stuff?"
Roger looked at her before sitting down. He sighed and started the story. He didn't leave out any details on his tale. "As for my job. I still have it... but I know you will have to go back there as well. You know... I was thinking. You're not crazy. You don't belong there. Once you're ready, I can break you out of here. We're going to run away together. You'll be safe then."

She listened with shaking breaths as he told her everything. She could hardly believe it. He had risked so much for her. He had been through awful things because of her. And David too. And goodness, those thugs could still come back if they figured out she and Roger weren't dead... When he brought up running away together, her eyes widened and they filled with tears. So she had been right in remembering that... He couldn't possibly be serious! "No, no no," she whispered, covering her mouth. "You can't. You'd have to give up everything, do you realise that? I could never repay you..."

Roger held her hand. "Hey. This is my choice. I just about lost my job at the center anyways. I don't want to go back. Not unless you're going there. But you don't need to be there. You're sane. Well... Just as sane as me. But you don't have to repay me. Just be by my side and I will be happy."

She shook her head, tears rolling down her cheeks. She wanted to sit up but again she found that she couldn't. "No. Listen. I'm not sane. Okay? I'm fucked up. I hurt people, that's what I do. I hurt you too! I... you don't want that. Please, don't... don't throw your life away for me." She sobbed. "I-I know you may think I'm all right but you haven't known me long enough. At some point you'll realise a-and I... you're going to resent me."
