"Scary? How is my mommy scary? She always calms me down when I'm upset." David looked at her with utter confusion. He couldnt understand just how his mother could ever scare anyone!

"Because!" Milly snapped, trying to shrink back into her towel. "...You said she knows things before they happen."
David looked at her even more confused. "How is that scary?"

"Because," she repeated, more softly this time. She didn't have the vocabulary to express that she felt exposed when Maeva was around. That she felt like Maeva could see what she could feel, and that Maeva could see that she may have sealed her brother's fate with her premonitions, and that she may be dangerous to others because of it.
David shrugged and started picking at a loose thread on his towel, looking at it instead of Milly. "She's not scary. She makes me feel better when I'm sad or scared. She likes to help me."

"Of course, she's your mommy," Milly remarked softly.
"But my mommy wants to help you too. Can't you see that? She helped when you were panicking!"

Milly looked down at her feet. She hadn't really thought about that. At that moment, Maeva came back with three cups of tea, and sat down across from the children.
"Here we go. Now we have to let these cool down a little so we don't burn ourselves. Are you two okay?"
David took his cup and stared into it. He was okay, at least he thought as much but he wasn't sure if Milly was okay. Would she ever be okay? He didn't know so he stayed silent.

Maeva bit her lips as Milly did the exact same thing as David. "You know what... We could also forget about the pool and go to the movies. Get some popcorn and just relax. How does that sound?"
