Default M - Touch of Monkshood, a Forbidden Romance - (The Cockatiel & Pyro) OOC

Princes are supposed to do what they are told until they assume the throne. Princes are supposed to marry princesses from friendly nations to strengthen political bonds. Princes are not to pay any mind to the common folk.

Knights are supposed to serve the royal family without question. Knights are supposed to be diligent soldiers who have dedicated their lives to their country and sovereign. Knights are not to become intimate with any member of the royal family.

Trystaine and Dunstan didn't mean to break the rules. They didn't mean to uproot the order set in place generations before. Their attraction for each other was purely coincidental, and their future together is compromised by tradition, societal tension, and secrets they keep even from each other.

    Name: Sir Dunstan Greybanks

    Gender: Male

    Age: 26

Appearance: Olive toned skin, black hair cropped close to the skin, even stubble. Intense dark brown eyes. Muscular build with intimidating stance, various scars from combat

Personality: Dunstan is a man of few words, but when he does speak it is with purpose and meaning. He has a sort of surly attitude, but is never outwardly rude or mean spirited. He is a spiritual man, and believes deeply in a moral code that will change the world, should the majority of the people choose to follow it. He bends for no one but the royal family, and is close with no one but Prince Trystaine.

History: Dunstan was born to a lower class family in the slums of the capital city. He knew the harshness of the streets from a young age, and fell in with local gangs before he reached adolescence. In his late teens, Dunstan was recruited by a small insurrectionist group, convinced that the monarchy was directly to blame for the plight of the poor.

Dunstan ran with the group for several years before he experienced a major shift in perspective. He began to question everything he had ever known, and struggled with identity. Shortly thereafter, he joined the army. Military life suited Dunstan - he needed the routine and the direction given to him. He performed so well that he was promoted to royal guard and, more specifically, the prince's personal bodyguard. Within months he was promoted again to captain, and takes his role extremely seriously.

Dunstan feels completely honorbound to Trystaine, but cannot deny he has grown more fond of the prince over time. He isn't sure how to assess his feelings for him, as it would infringe on his duty to begin an inappropriate relationship with the heir to the throne.

    Name: Trystaine Aramand Salvere

    Gender: Male

    Age: Twenty-five

Appearance: Green eyes, dark brown hair, very tall, and in fit physical condition. A variety of small scars from rough play and accidents, as well as a scar from the stab wound that nearly killed him.

Personality: Trystaine usually needs a little shove to step outside his comfort zone. He's somewhat awkward and shy with strangers, and is much more likely to hide behind a book than go make conversation. He's determined to be a good king someday, and certainly has the knowledge to be one, but he prefers his friends to diplomats, and tavern gossip to court matters. His stubbornness mostly comes into play when someone's trying to make him act princely and reserved, which is more or less completely against his nature. Curious and likes to read, which his father used to joke was probably the only reason he learned anything in school, and has more than once been found awake in the middle of the night, so lost in his research that he thinks it's midafternoon. He'll go out of his way to help someone if they're in need of assistance but he's not likely to stay and chat afterwards, or even tell anyone who he is. He much prefers to work behind the scenes with his friends than take credit for what he's done. The handful of nobles who aren't particularly fond of him remark that he would make a better grocer's son than a prince, but for the most part, people are more fond of him than not.

History: Trystaine was born and raised the crown prince of the realm, which meant that he wanted for absolutely nothing in his life. His childhood was spent in the palace and on its grounds. Despite his bouts of shyness as a boy, there was no corner of the estate that he could be kept out of, and he had a special knack for evading whatever tutor or babysitter was supposed to be keeping an eye on him. This was cause for amusement most of the time, rather than concern, especially because he could usually be found if one were to check either the library or the kitchen. But a rival kingdom sent an assassin to murder him shortly before his twentieth birthday, and the injuries he sustained left him bedridden for weeks. Everyone had expected to die, and when he recovered, his parents took far more care to protect their eldest than they had before. He wasn't fond of the restrictions at first, or of the royal guard that was assigned to follow him in his every waking moment, but he's come to be good friends with most of them, and wanting something more than friends with a certain captain.
