She was quite young when she graduated, but she did not go further in the following lessons, but went forward as a freelance lawyer, and has had many cases at a young age, she has lived many, but sometimes she does not have all luck.
Now years before, she has moved to another city, far away from her old life ... hoping to start a new life and never to be found
Sam Gibson
Age: 28
Sam was a bright and energetic police officer on the Seattle Police Department for 5 years. He spent the last two years on the tactical response unit. It was a rainy day one muggy Seattle afternoon when Sam rolled up on a disturbance call. A young man was punching a woman and shoving her toward an awaiting Hummer. As Sam ordered the young man to stop, the man turned to Sam and rushed at him. The young man was dropped to the ground with little effort on Sam's part. Two dark suited men exited the Hummer, one on his cell phone, the other casually approached Sam advising Sam that they would tend to the Mayor's son and if Sam were to simply walk away, he might have somewhat of a career left. Sam had nothing to do with that and cuffed the Mayor's son.
Seattle politics reared it's ugly head. Excessive force, unstable police officer, even claimed a relationship with the Mayor's son's new girlfriend, anything to trash Sam's reputation. The prosecutors were a farce, the Mayor's son was even portrayed as the victim on a jealous ex lover though Sam had never seen the woman before that day. It didn't matter, within a matter of weeks, Sam was working midnights in the worst districts as well as routinely assigned as a school resource officer in run down schools.
It was not long before Sam moved out of Washington State and ended up on a small town department where he has spent his last 3 years building his career back, now a training officer for his department. There are still small town politics to play, nothing on the scale of Seattle's and Sam has managed to fit in well in this new life. The only thorn in his side is a young attorney, Lydia Black. One of his first big cases was thrown out of court after the attorney tore his case to shreds. She simply went for the throat on her questioning and Sam hated that woman for how she went at him. His pride was hurt more than the reality of an already weak circumstantial case was easy to pick apart, something he knew going into court but held out hope that the suspect world only have some over worked public defender. He was not prepared for a talented defense attorney.
Over time, watching the young woman work, that initial shock and distain for her changed. She was uncompromising, seemed strong, independent and … quite beautiful. Having already licked his wounds of the defeat in court, he did realize she was just doing her job with a really weak case against a client who paid her to protect him, Sam began developing an admiration toward Lydia though he could not bring himself to admit this to her … yet.
