    Poseidon’s Wrath : A 7th Sea Story

Rated Mature as violence, cursing, gore, sexual interactions and innuendos as well as much more grey area adventuring may occur. Enter thread at your own discretion.

The 7th Sea is a myth that has been passed on from generation to generation. It is a legend that is as old as the Numa civilization, perhaps older. Regardless of where you come from, everyone has heard of the mythical sea that is not charted on any map nor any mention of it in scientific works. Some are bold enough to proclaim it nothing more than a metaphor for Theus’ lands, a place outside the reach of common mortals far off in the sky. Reduced to nothing more than a fairytale told to kids before bedtime each with its own twist, everyone brushes off the idea of the 7th Sea and carries on with their lives. After all, Theah is full of intrigue, wars and monsters to keep those seeking adventures away from myths of old.

This story starts about thirty years ago in the year 1613 when a young Castillian explorer by the name Fernando Jose Rafael Fuego who journeyed all around the Numanari Approach, exploring the ancient Numa ruins, hoping to one day find an artifact that would ensure his own place in history. His dreams were answered when, desperate and about to give up home, the man stumbled upon an ancient scroll, mostly faded and written in old Numian. Deciding to give it one more shot and praying to Theus that it was not another ancient recipe, Fernando toiled day and night, trying to restore the information on the scroll. What he discovered shocked him - a map, marking the place of the 7th Sea, the mystical ocean that was assumed to be an old wive’s tale.

Exhilarated, the young explorer paid what remained of his measer savings to gain passage back to Castille on the fastest frigate he could find, all the way tasting the sweet victory of his find and anticipating the reward and recognition that was sure to follow. Unfortunately, his dreams did not come true - upon arrival to his homeland, the Inquisition immediately took possession of the artifact, hiding it away in its vaults so as to not corrupt the minds of the people. Myths were to be myths. Fernando was given a few coins for his efforts and sent rudely on his way. Shocked and betrayed, he soon turned to drink and disappeared from the world, unable to be discovered.

Now, a group of explorers and outcasts, friends and seekers of adventures takes up what Fernando Fuego had wanted to do all along - pave their way into history. Unlike the Castillian explorer, they aren’t about to go looking for some old artifact, oh no. These rogued dare-devils are planning on finding the 7th Sea itself and their first step is easy. Simply break into the Inquisition’s most guarded fortress underneath the sacred Vaticine City, steal the priceless map and find someone to translate the runes scribbled on it. This will be the heist of the century, no doubt about it.

    Spoiler: History of Theah

    Spoiler: Countries of Theah

    Legend of the 7th Sea

Theah is surrounded by 6 seas yet many sailors speak of a place where the sun and moon shine in the same sky, where the stars go backward and the waters turn to silver. This “seventh sea” is the source of much discussion within Théah’s scholarly community. Sailors tell stories of sailing the silvery waters for days with no sign of land in sight until finally, the sky and waters suddenly snap back and the ship is thousands of miles off course. Some scholars suggest the seventh sea is a doorway to other worlds. Others believe it may be the home of creatures such as the Sidhe and Matushka, that perhaps these creatures are exiles of the seventh sea and live here now. Are there treasures to be found? Adventures to be had? Only time will tell.

    Spoiler: Magic in Theah

    Spoiler: Rules of Engagement

    Heroes of Theah

A group of heroes comes together, each for their own reasons, to find the mythical 7th Sea. Embarking on the shores of Avalon, the crew is traveling upon a ship called "El Huracan", a Castillian boat with an old history of smuggling which has ended up in our possession. As we travel to El Huracan's homeland, following the trail of the mythical map, it has been a couple of weeks at sea already.

What this means is that we have already figured out the basic structure of the group. We know the strengths and weaknesses of the group as well as have some established relationships. Instead of starting the story where everyone must first get together, we are skipping that phase and are about to dock where we will be meeting an informant.

    Spoiler: Character Sheet

    El Huracan's Crew
Note that positions can be filled by NPCs and PCs alike.

Surgeon Tamara Samojez Alekseiovna v'Pscovs- handles general health and welfare
Crew - Complete most work around ship, fight as part of the crew, hired for one or more voyages and jobs. Solveig Siv v Larsfolk Giovanni Auditore

If your character doesn't fit into any position or there is another one you would like them to be considered for, please send me a PM to discuss.

    El Huracan

El Huracan is not the typical Castillian vessel that one pictures - among the huge galleons and man-o-wars, the schooner stands out like a sore thumb, a constant reminder of the threat from Montagnie. However, even the Castillian navy needed a quick ship to carry key messages across the waters where bigger, slower ships were risking to meet their doom. Thus, although shunned and hated by all of the nation’s navy, the little schooner began her career as a messenger ship.

Unfortunately, only a few years into service, El Huracan was captured by pirates. The captain, refusing to constantly flee the brigs of the Brotherhood resolved to stand and fight, shedding noble blood upon the schooner’s boards. For the next five years, the schooner belonged to the brotherhood, used to smuggle important slaves from Ifri to Vedacce and other countries not shying away from the concept of second-quality citizens. To avoid detection, the hull started to have quite a few secret hidden spots.

As though by fate, the schooner was captured by the privateers while the crew was in mutiny on the way to pick up another cargo. Although the fight for the ship was rough, the privateers won, bringing in the pirates in for justice. The young Drake Ryder became El Huracan’s new captain and since that fateful day, the schooner blazes the oceans proudly sporting the flag of Salacio.

    Name: Zhao Jin
    Age: 46
    Gender: Male
Homeland: Cathay, the jewel of the west
Special skills: Zhao is a practitioner of Human Shu, the religion and magic of Cathay. While most users are citizens of the major capitals, the outlying cities have very few scattered users. Zhao is such, and has become and expert user of different styles of fighting.

Raging Bull: By focusing his qi into his arms and legs, he fights with relentless speed and strength to keep his opponents on the retreat.

Mighty oak: Focusing his energy into his forearms, thighs and torso, he acts as a mighty tree, defending and blocking against his enemies attacks while remaining on the defensive.

Intimidate: Focusing his Ki between himself and his opponent, he can persuade the weak willed and gullible into fleeing from him. While in no way a boost of his strengths, it can be used to win a fight without a battle.

    Strengths:
-Zhao is a seasoned fighter, his long years spent protecting his home and small village giving him plenty of experience
-Zhao has endurance to spare, as when not training the people to fight, he tended his fields for the food grown.
-Zhao has a calming presence, just by his appearance and naturally calm demeanour.

    Weaknesses:
-Zhao is getting on in age, which has begun to strain on his joints and muscles. He cannot last long in a fight any more without the use of his Ki, so has come to rely heavily on it.
-Zhao has no way to deal with a long range fighter or magic user, relying on getting into close range for fighting.
-Zhao is slow, most of his fighting relying on overwhelming strength or defense against his opponent.

Typical role: Zhao is usually the quarter master or fighter, as his age and strength has lent him plenty of experience in fights and life lessons

Description: Zhao is an old seasoned fighter and farmer, and has a body to match. His head is shaved bare in the respect of his immortals save a beard braided to rest just above his collarbone. His body is well tanned and has plenty of scars above his chest, usually hidden by a basic brown tunic and leather pants. His feet are usually bare when in the fields, though tends to wear sandals that wrap around his ankles.

His brown eyes hold flecks of copper in them, a sign of old age and his beard is a peppered grey among his tanned face. His most notable scar is a long line across his chest, one that he gained in defending his village and the title of the mighty oak in their lands. He is always seen carrying a weapon called the Guandao, a quarterstaff with a short blade on the top, fitting of his style.

History: Zhao was born in a small village far from the major cities of Cathay. This meant he was raised in poverty, having to toil the land and survive on the succor of his labor. His village were large practitioners or Huan Shu, even if only for religious purpose and praise. It was during this time that he began to study the way of Ki more, and grow in his skills. He was the only one of his village that could use it, so Zhao had to learn to use this to fight by trial and error.

When he hit the age of a man, he joined his village militia, built by the able bodied men of his village to defend against the band of roving bandits that were much more ill off than him. He began honing his skills in earnest there, wanting to help save those he had grown up with. It was a simple yet pleasing life, even up to his older age.

Until famine struck. He wasn't sure what caused it, nor the effects it would have on his people. He tried getting support from the local large city, even food, but they were ignored as their place was too small to gain any sympathies with them. He couldn't watch his people die and starve away while nothing happened, so Zhao decided to take matters into his own hands.

Zhao attacked the local food supply routes in the cover of night, taking off with their food to help support his village, but he knew it was only a small boost for his people without any medicine. Knowing that attacking the treasuries, Zhao decided to turn to the outside world for support and to an old rumor, that of the 7th sea. Upon the year of monsoons, Zhao managed to escape the firewalls in a small boat, praying to his faith to avoid harm.

Zhao just barely made it past the fires when his ship was destroyed by the monsoons, himself nearly killed in the waves, only managing to survive by sheer luck and his faith to the gods. He was stuck afloat in the ocean for 3 days before being picked up by the crew of El Huracan. Seeing this as a sign from the 8 immortals. Zhao joined their crew, knowing his skills and weaponry would be of great use for them

I'll answer for Breggo since she's gone to sleep and I've asked the same question, they are in the era of muskets behind pikemen. In most fights, the rapier is common use.
And while they do have cannons, they do not have mortars.
Funniest thing known, they have extremely primitive grenades, but they kinda suck

Correct. They are in early stages of muskets.
Best reasoning I can think of for why they are behind
"Why use something so dangerous when we have magic"

Though that's all on Breggo for the magic limit
