“I- it’s not exactly human trafficking at all” Anna claimed “I’m not sure when he will be here” Anna took a sip of her beer and looked around the bar for Ian begging in her mind for him to hurry up. She didn’t know exactly what to say to Sarah.
“I- it’s not exactly human trafficking at all” Anna claimed “I’m not sure when he will be here” Anna took a sip of her beer and looked around the bar for Ian begging in her mind for him to hurry up. She didn’t know exactly what to say to Sarah.
Sarah took a sip of her water, but her eyes never left Anna's. "What is it then?" she pressed, willing her to tell her everything she knew. Then Ian came back and sat down, rubbing his hands together nervously.
"Hey. How are you holding up?"
"Well enough. You?"
"Same same," he said, and took a drink. "You sure you don't want anything else to drink?"
"Sure. Hey, Anna here was just telling me about that organisation," she said, looking at Ian with that investigating stare now. "What do they do?" Ian hesitated, and glanced at Anna.
"What did Anna tell you?"
"That it's not human trafficking. Is that right?"
"I..." He rubbed his face. "I can't say I know, really."
“Well from what I can deduct from this it’s not human trafficking we-“ Anna hesitated “we are not 100% sure” Anna didn’t like the pressure and was relieved when Ian came back. Anna took another sip of her beer nervously and took a look around the bar again spotting a man. Not entirely sure who yet but he looked familiar. She kept on thinking and thinking but nothing came to mind at that moment.
Sarah looked down at her glass of water. "So you don't know what they do, but you know enough to be scared that they listen in on you?"
"It's complicated."
"Do you think they're here right now?"
"Most likely." That unsettled Sarah, and she glanced over her shoulder.
"...Am I in danger?"
"Possibly," Ian said softly.
“Don’t be scared.” Anna looked at Sarah and gave her a reassuring look. “We will do what we can..” Anna turned around and saw that the man was closer and looking at them. Anna scared that it was one of her dads men nudged Ian a bit but only to where he would notice.
Ian looked at her, noticed her look, and glanced at where she was looking. He took a sip of his beer as to not act suspicious. "Do you know him?" he asked Anna from behind his glass so Sarah wouldn't hear.
“I-I-I think it might be one of the men that work with my dad but I’m not 100% sure” she whispered “He was farther away before but he got closer.” Anna was scared and wanted to leave but they needed to finish this business with Sarah. Anna just wanted to go and disappear. She unconsciously grabbed Ian’s hand for comfort.
He set his beer glass down and squeezed her hand to reassure her. Sarah looked around, still not seeing the man from last night. She bit her lips. He had to be here. He was her only lead.
Anna blushed when she felt the squeeze not realizing she was holding his hand. Anna looked back at Sarah seeing her being a bit nervous waiting for the guy. Anna then looked at the man one last time and looked at Ian. "What do we do?" She whispered.
He leaned in closer to her. "We keep an eye on him. If you want to leave, we can leave."
