    Default Punishment

Im playing time to time PC game Stellaris where if someone don't know the game, you step up in the boots of a leader of space faring civilization. Game is very much tactical and management level decision making with some really nice rp events too.

One such was that lower level civ (living their early medieval era) was having their solar system inside my territory on outer border. I had built in the past observation station nearby the planet who they called Corealla so the more advanced race was able to monitor the planet and its inhabitants without causing any interference.

Now this station time to time had small missions to the planet with order don't reveal your presence to locals. One lower class scientist however disobeyed and left out the shuttle when it left. This matter came quickly to notice not only to station but up to the royal house of my civ. As the scientist wasn't been able to found they gave order to monitor situation.

Some years later one of the leading countries of this world announced that their new leader is a great prophet with superior wisdom of any person in their world. It didn't take genius to figure out that he was our missing scientist.

Royal house after discussing the situation gave order that their ground forces are to make planet fall and if necessary extract this "prophet" with force.
The operation began and quickly turned out that scientist had predicted this outcome. He had spoken about evil gods in the sky who would one day come to claim him. Fanatic followers of him stormed against the landing army leading great massacre as they desperately tried to protect their leader - in vain.

Once back in the capital this scientist was tried and imprisoned for life.
As the Royal Prince said in the trial: "Now only time will tell the weight of your crime. Pray that we weren't too late and they would abandon your teachings."

45 years passed as the observation post kept worryingly monitor the Corealla planet as the civilizations there grew and sadly following the technological teachings of their lost messiah. Also even more worrysome they were teaching about the evil gods who are watching them and inspiring people any ways possible to fight against these gods. Their tech was flourishing and within these 45 years they jumped from bows- arrows and stone castles into steam engines and electricity. Space flight would be just matter of years ahead now.

Then the outer perimeter alert triggered in the observation post. Massive planet killer meteorite was detected on collision course to the planet and the planet with quick survey had no idea of coming calamity.

This information was quickly passed to royal navy but before their response the Royal Prince spoke.
"Do not destroy this asteroid. Get the scientist who said to be the messiah of those poor people. Install him to observation deck overlooking the planet and make him watch when the asteroid collides. Without him they would have the protection of our navy but now he and he alone is responsible of that planet. If hey can defend themselves with the knowledge he shared his crime will be pardoned and I'm ready to reconsider our laws related to lesser races"

Navy did as the prince ordered and frightened scientist was seated to the observation deck. He pleaded, begged and cried the grand admiral to give the order to destroy the asteroid, he tried to hide his eyes but the troops around him forced him to watch. Watch as the huge rock slowly creep towards the planet and then smashed to it. Cry escaped to his lips when the burning ring of shock wave left from the impact zone but when the surface of the planet cracked and red liquid lava size of small countries erupted across the planet he knew that no one there had any chance for survival.

A bit long story but tell what you think of the punishment.
