The Last Hybrid- Information about hybrids:
Companion Animals:
If a hybrid dies before the companion animal dies, the companion will often go insane or lose his or her will to live. They can become more violent and aggressive if the hybrid master or mistress dies, and often they will need to be euthanized.
The members of the hybrid royal family were the only ones to have wolves as companions. Other ranks, such as knights and common hybrids could have any other animal species as companions.
A hybrid can only have one companion animal. If the companion dies, the hybrid will not get the ability to bond with another companion animal.
Common Powers/Abilities
Most, if not all hybrids have the following powers:
Intangibilty, which is the ability to make one's body so that things like weapons can harmlessly pass through their body without harm. This is also the ability to pass through solid objects like walls. However, with specialized equipment, a hybrid won't be able to use this ability.
Invisibility, the ability to make one invisible, so that they can't be seen. A hybrid using this ability can still be heard or scented by others, but this is the most sneaky of a hybrid's ability
Ghost Ray, an ectoplasmic blast that usually comes out of the palm of a hybrid's hand, this power can take almost any shape or form. Some of the forms include: a ray of energy, a glowing orb, or even a repulsion field. A hybrid can also kept the energy used inside his hand, using it to empower his or her strikes.
Flight: gravity doesn't have any effect on a hybrid's ghost form, so they can fly through the air and space at considerable speeds and heights, and walk on vertical surfaces.
Telepathy, the direct transference of thought from one person (sender or agent) to another (receiver or percipient) without using the usual sensory channels of communication, hence a form of extrasensory perception (ESP). In other words, this allows a hybrid to read another's mind, though this ability can blocked using certain type of magic.
Uncommon Powers/Abilties
Some hybrids have these powers. Not all hybrids can use the following powers:
Duplication: A hybrid can create duplicates of himself or herself that all have their ghost powers and can fight alongside the original copy. This can also be used for a short time, as it drains a hybrid's ghost energy. This ability also takes patience and practice to do correctly.
Overshadowing, A hybrid can possess the mind and body of a person, ghost, or animal, allowing him to completely control his or her actions. While overshadowing, hybrids can still use their powers of flight, intangibility, invisibility, and ghost rays.
Cryokinesis, the ability to fire blasts of icy energy from his or her hands or eyes that can freeze enemies on contact, radiate cold energy from their body, and create objects from ice out of thin air. When using this power, a hybrid’s eyes turn icy blue instead of their usual eye color in ghost formA hybrid can combine cryokinesis with their other powers for enhanced effects, such as firing an icy explosive blast or generating an ice shield to block fire attacks.
Pyrokinesis, the ability to fire blasts of fire energy from his or her hands or eyes that can burn enemies on contact, radiate hot energy from their body, and create objects from fire out of thin air. When using this power, a hybrid’s eyes turn a shade of fiery red instead of their usual eye color in ghost form. A hybrid can combine pyrokinesis with their other powers for enhanced effects, such as firing a fiery explosive blast or generating a fire shield to block ice attacks.
Rare Powers/Abilities
Very few hybrids can use the following powers:
Ghostly Wail, a very rare but powerful ability. The hybrid using this power releases a highly destructive stream of ecto-energy from his or her vocal cords and mouth. It is accompanied by a distinct ghostly moaning sound. It is often used as a last resort by hybrids, as the power drains so much ghost energy that it often leaves the user weakened, or in their human form.
Telekinesis, the supposed ability to move objects at a distance by mental power or other nonphysical means. This has only been noticed in a few hybrids, mostly in stories of the beginning days of which hybrids were just starting to be recognized as a species/race and their rise to power. This ability has not been seen or used in many years since the dawn of the hybrids. It is suspected that those who could use this power have all died.
Weaknesses:
The following are things that hybrids are, for a lack of a better term, allergic to. They can't use their powers that well, if at all, when exposed to them. Long-term exposure can lead to the death of the hybrid exposed.
Bronze
Silver
Jade
Sapphire
Blood Blossoms, the flower of a plant referred to as Hybrid's Blood. This plant doesn't block a hybrid's powers, but it causes extreme pain to the hybrid exposed to the flower when they are in ghost form. It doesn't seem to affect them while in their human form.
Life Cycle of a Hybrid:
A hybrid, like their human relatives, is born after spending about nine to ten months in their mother's womb.
As a hybrid infant grows up, they age just like a normal human would. Once they reach adulthood, their aging slows down, typically granting another three or four hundred years of life.
Once a hybrid reaches adulthood, they can have children.
Hybrids "mate for life," meaning that they have one sexual/reproductive partner for their entire life. Once a hybrid male and female are paired, the pair ends up bonding, and neither one can find another mate, even if one dies.
At death, a hybrid is often buried in the same direction that the sun sets, which is in the west, as the setting sun represented the end of life.
When a hybrid dies, their spirit goes to the hybrid underworld, which is called Gerwulf, named after the god of the hybrid underworld. It is believed that Gerwulf is a werewolf that walks on two legs like a human in both forms. Their actions in life, from birth until death controls what Gerwulf decides to do with the fallen souls.
Religion/Beliefs:
Gerwulf, the lycan wolf of the underworld. He is the god of death, and the souls of deceased hybrids must go to him for judgment. If one is deemed good, Gerwulf will allow the soul to stay in existence and live out the rest of time in his territory. If one is deemed evil, he will destroy the soul, erasing it from existence like it never happened. He has black hair/fur.
A soul that is deemed good by Gerwulf can visit the living world from time to time, but only after eight years of staying in the underworld.
Aniu, Gerwulf's sister and wife. She is believed to be a beautiful white she-wolf. She is the goddess of the harvest, the hunt, the earth and the sun. It is said that she gets killed by the god of thunder and sky, Thor, as Thor mistakes her for a demon in disguise. At her death, the world becomes cold, and all the plants "die" off. After winter she's born again, as Gerwulf brings her back out of the underworld. When this happens, the world gets warmer and plants start coming back to life.
Thor, Aniu's first son. He is believed to be a dire wolf and is the god of thunder and sky. He is black in color. It is also believed that he creates storms out of his anger and/or sadness.
Athena, mother of Aniu and Gerwulf. She is believed to be the goddess of the moon, wisdom and war. She is the "alpha female" of the Gods' Pack, and she has reddish-brown fur. High-ranking hybrids often prayed to this deity in times of war.
-Anubis, mate to athena, father to Aniu and Gerwulf. He is the god of love and beauty, and is believed to be a pure white lycan wolf. He is the leader of the hybrid gods, and is considered the "alpha male" of the hybrid deities. Hybrids seeking a husband or wife often prayed to this god.
