Ikanu flew into an abandoned town and like with everything else, she started wondering what happened. She went inside some buildings with broken ceilings, messed up floors and peeling walls. She Rember how the bird sounded. Ika. she liked the sound. She left the town and kept walking. After a while, her feet started to burn. the sun beaming down on the orange, hard sand. She kept walking though. she wanted to explore every bit of this world she was put in.

Raylan blinked up at the mountain of woman that had ascended the platform to join them as he spoke to the other two members of his squad. Never once had he considered himself short of stature or small but standing anywhere within the proximity of her it was difficult to feel anything but. She was big and that axe looked about as heavy as he was.

“…Right.” He continued after a time, his thoughts coming back to him as he recovered from seeing the giant. Gerena, at least, had acknowledged him. Eager to please and succeed, that one. He only hoped he wasn’t leading her to an untimely death. “Well, if that’s all lets climb aboard and get this bird in the air.”

The pilot was already secured within the cockpit and even as Raylan finished speaking those large turbine blades began to slowly come alive, rotating faster and faster until they would eventually creature a hurricane wind all their own from sheer velocity. Raylan waited just outside the large sliding door in the side, one hand upon his hat to ensure it didn’t fly off while his troops climbed aboard.

"yes, sir!" Gerena said. she grabbed whatever she could of the gear that wasn't in the chopper already, which was little besides her own and everyone else's, and climbed in with her own gear strapped to her back, and got to a good spot to sit with her P90 in her lap if she needed to use it at a moments notice, and strapped herself in if there was anything to strap to.
she moved if needed for anyone else.

And now the moment Tanner had been dreading - boarding the helicopter and being wafted into the air. He didn't like the orientation flight, he was pretty sure he wasn't going to like this one either. And where were they going without any briefing? In all the time he'd been here, it was planning, meetings, training. Today, it was just "show up" without any idea what they were supposed to do. Already there were so many "wrongs" with this trip!

Scowling, Tanner climbed inside, taking a middle seat. He slipped his pack under the chair, and strapped himself in like he'd been taught, and held onto his rifle. If his knuckles were turning white from the stress of flying, at least they wouldn't hear a peep out of him.

Ikanu sat down on the ground as she was worn out. Drawing in the sand with her finger, she felt tired and every bit of her ached. at least her wings were feeling better. She stood up and opened up her wings and as she did that, she started running, catching speed, and then she jumped, extending her wings farther and father until the couldn't go anymore. She flapped them, taking off to look for somewhere to sleep. gazing down at the ground with tiny bushes and soft hills in the sand made by wind. She smiled as she looked at the clouds and the ground, soaring through each cloud then coughing because she wasn't supposed to breathe it in. She turned away from the smokey clouds and flew in another direction, looking at the ground once again to see everything was smaller then it was when she was closer. she started letting her mind wander and think up ideas about the way that this planet became like this. either it was always this way, or something big happened.

Joanna dipped her arrow heads in the the jar of saliva she had produced the night before. Her fangs were still aching from the encounter, but this served a purpose. Her poison tipped arrows helped her bring down prey when hunting. It was a good advantage to have as food was becoming scarce in these parts. I wonder how much longer we can stay in these parts. My people think others are a threat, but so isn't sitting waiting to die. This land can no longer provide, we must make a move soon. The nomadic tribes have it figured out. But the tribe won't listen to me.... She sighed as she spoke to herself with another inner monologue. There were not many people to talk to. Her tribe was small and she only talked to them when she needed to. Usually with bartering her meats for other products or services needed. Her mother was her closest companion, but she was also a woman of limited words. Joanna felt an itch inside of her to explore and meet others, but her tribe would not allow it. The rule was if you encountered someone you were to run and if caught do not give up the settlement location. Joanna strapped her bow around herself and grabbed her quiver of arrows, heading out to hunt.

The sun was high in the sky now and Joanna had not been successful so far. Her pack only held a rat and a two headed duck, but that would barely serve the tribe. What she needed was a big kill. Joanna let her tongue slither from her mouth, tasting the air for prey. Her close slit amber eyes took in the foliage around her. From what she could see there was nothing. Then there it was her heightened hearing picking up a large scamper. Joanna crouched and silently pulled an arrow from her back, readying to notch it upon her bow. She was silent as she approached the prey. As she got closer the beast came into view. It was a six-legged dear, a product of the many generations of radiation in the area. The land and animals had adapted, becoming one genetically causing mutations. Just like she was mutated. The deer was grazing naturally, unaware of the danger that was ahead. Joanna fully notched her bow with the arrow, pulled back the string, and let it fly. The arrow landed through the side of the deer's head. It flopped lifelessly to the ground.

Joanna approached her kill and removed the arrow from its head. Small amount of blood and brain matter splattering upon her boots. She wiped the arrow clean upon the grass and added it back with the others. Joanna grabbed one of the legs and was ready to drag it back to camp. That was until she heard the sound of a helicopter from above.
"Shit." she exclaimed as she dragged the body of the deer to nearby brush and did her best to hide it among the foliage. She would have to come back for it later. It would be just her luck to finally get a decent kill in a month, only to have to leave it and hope no one else will take it.

Joanna did not return to her settlement though, instead she went further into the woods, hiding low among the brush, awaiting to see where the helicopter might land and what would happen. She could not risk bringing them back to her tribe.

Jenny considered the helicopter for a moment. With a shrug of her massive shoulders, she joined her comrades on the helicopter. It took a little bit of finagling to her frame to fit into the door, but she got in eventually. It wasn't much better in here. Her knees were perpetually bent at an uncomfortable angle, the roof of the helicopter met at her neck and forced her to lean forward, and the seat creaked when she shifted her weight.
She pulled her ax into her lap. She had to, otherwise, the handle would be sticking out of the door. She turned it over in her hands, pointing the handle to the floor near Tanner's lap. Subconsiously, her thumb rubbed the little divot. She wasn't scared of flying, she was anxious for the mission. She hadn't been sent out in a good while, and she was itched to use her ax. You could only clean and maintain an ax for so long before it became useless to do so.

Gerena popped up from checking her gun like she just realized something.
"uh, sir? are we not being briefed?" she asked as Raylan entered the helicopter. she eyed the giant woman with a little bit of sympathy. her own feet barely touched the floor, she was so short. she didn't envy her hight then.
she was a little happy that none of them had pointed out her mutations. meant she didn't need to break another nose... yet. she had to clean the toilets alone for the last one. she might have something worse waiting for her when she got back if she had to break another nose. it would have to be a last resort.
she rested her gun in her lap as she listened to the commander.

Ikanu Ponderd on her Idea fo a few minutes until she decided that it was time to land. she didn't know if she liked flying or walking more so she switched between the two quickly. As she got closer to the ground, she slowed her flapping and drew her feet out. she landed with a fwap and she folded in her wings to her back. She started walking around, trying to find maybe people or more animals. she leans over to scratch her mosquito bite and saw footprints. She wanted to explore them but then felt a sharp pain in her hip. it was the shiny things that she found on the floor in that lab. she took them out and opened the bag, looking at every one of the shade. she picked up a bid one and help into she sun, Ika looked through it and a light shone in her eye, causing her to drop the shard and cover her right eye with one of her hands. after a few seconds, she picked up another shard and then tried to fit it with one that looked some-what identical. they didn't fit so she gave up but still wanted to find out whats they were. she backed up a bit and bumped into something hard. she looked to see what it was and saw that it was a rock. she pushed the rock over to the shiny things and started thinking about what to do. Ika picked one up and started scraping it against the rock, cringing at te shrieking sound she stopped for a second. she looked tat the glass and saw that it was sharper. She scaped the glass against the rock some more and made it super sharp. This interested her so she did that with some other shade and did the same, sharpening every piece to the point. She finished sharpening them and decided that it was a good idea to run her finger along the pointed end of one of the shade and the dropped it and whimpered at the sight of the little blood seeping from her fingertip. she wiped her finger on her dress then put the shards back in the sack. Wondering who the footprints were from, she followed them slowly and gazed at the forest-like place ahead of her.

Joanna was still well within the brush, hiding from view. She saw a bird like woman come into the clearing, seeming to be following her path. You didn't cover your own tracks, idiot! She had been so focused on hiding her kill that she didn't cover her own tracks. She contemplated what she would do if she was found out. She wasn't inherently violent by nature, but she was torn. She wanted to meet people outside of her tribe, but she was also protective of her settlement and its location. Joanna continued this internal struggle within herself, contemplating the correct course of action. The young woman seemed innocent enough, but how could she knew her true intentions? Joanna decided to have her bow at the ready with an arrow if she was found out. She could not take any risks. This world was cold and she should think people outside of her tribe were foe instead of friend. So there Joanna was, crouched within the brush ready to launch an arrow at any threat that came her way.
